Smackdown vs. Raw is such a huge disappointment...

DarienA

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
Where do I start...

Shoddy hit detection(if I throw a punch, kick or grapple it should matter who I'm currently targeted if there are people in the way they should get hit).

I can't seem to control my character in a tag match once I tell him to go attack the legal or corner opponent.

Where more moves added? I'm having a hard time seeing them... I miss the over the top finisher of DF:NY I guess.

Story mode seems shorter than last year... maybe it isn't... at the very least it seems that way.

Limited wrestler interaction... I'd like to be able to pick and choose who I talk to yet this year I'm completely locked in to a storyline with a very chances to make positive/negative comments.

The Clean/Dirty system? Whatever.

Submission moves... Yukes references to go back and convert the old original submission moves from way back in to either of the two new button based submission systems.

6 player matches? Yeah it looks great on the screen... but is virtual chaos in implementation. Even with the new Ring Out system it's still too easy for the AI to knock you out IMO. Those of you who can win the 15 and 30 man battle royales... I salute you.

And why do I feel like my CAW has less moves now? If anything the categorized grapple system should have added to it light and heavy move categories. Where's the Extreme version of the F5? I don't see it...

Why do some high impact moves have like NO strong sounds with them? The double knee that knocks you way up in to the air? Certainly doesn't SOUND like it's doing any damage.

On the bright side:

The new submission systems are nice... the chest slapping system is ok... and the start of the match stuff is cute.

What's with all the kissing in cut scenes? And is this game rated M I mean geez not much left up to imagination at certain points on the Smackdown storyline side at least...

On the other side how the hell do I unlock move on the move list that are listed as ????????????

I'm in the middle on the voices... some sound like they really got in to it... some are really just reading it off the paper.

Overall some of this is a nice improvement over the last one... but some of it REALLY isn't.

Yes, once again Yukes churns out a paper bag full of crap. Keep buying those WWE games and encourage them to continue!

What do you mean by this?

Also, I kind of thought it would be a disappointment in reading the reviews. I'll just stick with Here comes the Pain. Hopefully the X-Box game will be good.

Well in quite obvious terms you and one of the Diva's get it on in the shower, she leads you toward it.... the camera cuts to you seeing the shower room fogged up.... her bra is on the floor, etc....

Some you have to buy in Shopzone, and the rest are unlocked after you finish all the Legend Challenges.

I bought a whole bunch of those movesets I think only 1 or 2 are left yet I didn't see anything new in the lists... they'll be a different color to indicate that they are new won't they?

I was having dinner at the old WWF New York (the only time I went there... actually had an ok time) when my friend and I striked a conversation with one of the waiters. Somehow the subject of toys and video games came up (if I remember correctly, it was becaks JAKKS Pacific was having a private party by the stage area... J.R. and Kurt Angle were guests) and he mentioned a time about when he over heard what the true AGENDA of the WWE Video Game franchise was.

Basically... Vince wants a game with flaws so that the apparent "newer one" will be an upgrade from your last one.

But, of course, you'd have to be silly not to realize that this has been the case in MANY of our favorite Sports games for years/forever. The business aspect of building games like this is just too profitable.

Lament... we will never see the "perfect" wrestling game.

Why do these shoddy Yukes wrestling games get such high scores?

Because at least in the american market they are the only, up to date to the current console gen, option as far as wrestling games are concerned. Unless you take jokes like Backyard Wrestling and Legends of Wrestling into account.

What this genre needs is a publisher with balls that is willing to get AKI or Spike on the helm and not worry about whether or not the game has a fancy, known license like WWE.

Nope, when you no longer see any ??????'s, it means you have bought/unlocked them all.

So there is no way to tell when I buy a new move set what moves were added that I can now give them to my CAW?

That sucks.

I need AKI or Spike to give me a non-wrestling title with a huge CAW and over the top finishers like what DJ:NY has... but more wrestling based finishers.

Hardly perfect anymore, especially since a lot of new moves have been created, or implemented into wrestling ever since it came out. Still a lot of fun though.

I think its a great game. Better than No Mercy, IMO. I think this series is going in the right direction, I actually dont want AKI to get WWE rights again. Playing against the computer as actually fun and challenging. Not as challenging as it could be, but its way harder than the last game. My only real gripe with the game is the lack of cool designs for the CAWS. All the patterns are useless. Also despite only being able to do one on one matches online and the fact that a lot of people have ZERO talent for creating CAWs, the online is good fun. I've had some good matches against some good CAWs. Look for me, AUTOMATICMAN. My Maxwell Murder will make you tap out!

p.s.---If you ever kick my ass really good, it just means I have bad lag. I am just incredible at this game and you will have to bring your best to take me out!

All in all, I love the game!

I hate the game .. its worse than last years .. I won the title in a season and started another one .. and i dont care to play it .... its not very good.

Until they figure out a better way to win grapples and escape submissions wrestling games won't be that good at all. Everything else has improved but fundamental problems with the engines are the greatest flaw.

Other than that, SD needs to slow down the gameplay, fix the retard AI, clipping issues, get a better reversal system among countless other things.

As for the perfect wrestling game, that would have to include big names past and present and maybe even other leagues. Obviously that could never happen. CAWs could fix that but no many ppl have the time to make them. Maybe it'd be worth their time if someone made a half decent engine with good CAW editing. Still, nothing more than a dream.

eh its pretty shoddy

its not BAD its just that it feels like they really didnt do anything except ad a few more polys no one will notice and slap in some half assed "mini games" and a barebones online mode

while raping the decent season hctp had, and a smaller roster

I think it's pathetic myself...not even my boy Bret Hart can save it. I got HCTP used last week for a twenty spot...at least in that game CAW's are part of a storyline that isn't linear as fuck, along with having a roster that's twice the size.
