Snowbreak: Containment Zone’s devs on sexualization criticism :“We know our players’ needs”

Reminds me of my first time in a 4DX movie theater.

Also, their website has anniversary information (starts today) and you can do fake calls to get some additional freebies, for any potential or new players in the thread:

Looks cool, I'll give this game a try. Even if I don't take to it and only play for a weekend, it's worth it just to boost the download count and playtime.

Been playing off and on for a couple days now and I'm just not seeing any fanservice to get pissy about. I guess they hid it all several story chapters deep? Devious bastards...

The dormitory interactions are pretty wild. I mean, they have chosen unapologetically that path, you can see it in every trailer.

Out of the "legit gacha games" , I think this is the horniest, probably surpassed by Nornium, a space-mecha-girls game due this summer.

Ah, I actually didn't bother watching any trailers. I'm on the chapter than unlocks the "base" so I guess that's the point where the horny shows up in full force?

I've played Azur Lane for years now and they've been leaning into the horny more and more over the years. We've been getting increasingly more fetishized stuff with the CN version getting slightly censored outfits (which often look better and are even more suggestive). They aren't topping the charts but they're consistently pulling in plenty considering it's age.

You have to look at it from the right frame of reference. It's a CN developed game, so to have characters without safety shorts and cleavage blockers, or that annoying visual filter that makes the characters invisible if you move the camera below their waist, it's already way different than average.

Then you add in the harem aspect (this is what makes western twitter users mad) where all of the girls are unapologetically into the MC.

It's not a porn game or anything, but they don't cut a lot of corners and worry about a lot of the age rating censorship crap that most games have to deal with. And they're very transparent and very quick to respond to the players. Like last patch they made a new skin for Katya (secretary themed). They made 2 sets of leggings for her that they gave you for free if you bought the skin. Then players said that the skirt part was a little long so they made another new variant that's shorter, and gave it for free to anyone who bought the skin. Notice that they didn't take the old one away if you liked it.

That's why it's been making waves. Compared to something like Genshin there's a lot of fanservice but it's not without class or whatever you'd call it. It's mostly how awesome and responsive the devs have been that makes the game good. The goonbrains that like sexy characters brought the game back from the edge of them shutting it down, so they're focused on providing those players with good stuff that they'd probably like.

Yeah, I get all that. Was just saying I didn't see any fanservice early on that was anywhere near worth the English VAs refusing to come back to a paying job. If they felt snubbed by the devs cutting off English VO due to cost cutting then I could at least understand. But apparently I simply haven't progressed enough to see the so called "problem". At the point where I'm at in the game I could pick out a random (dubbed) anime on Crunchyroll and it'd probably have as much or more fanservice.

Edit: Looking back at the OP I was focused on the VA aspect when a lot of the post was about other responses to the fanservice.

I played a couple of hours, it is free on Steam. To be honest it is kind of like the first descendent if you removed all the open world parts of first descendent. Small linear maps that can end in a small arena with a boss or mob fight, characters all have a few special powers.

I thought it was ok gameplay wise but honestly not up to the level to keep me playing. First Descendent is better in a lot of ways. Both games suffer from the free to play trappings expensive but very cool/sexy looking skins.

I am fine with these types of skins and wish we would see more of them instead of the industry being morality police and saying that’s not acceptable in a game where we kill hundreds to thousands of people.

I found this game was also just too anime in the dialogue/story for me. I don’t mind some anime but some of the tropes are just like nails on a chalkboard at times.

a ton of English VA’s are fucking useless prudes.

Actually, most of them have OFs and/or are sexual deviants. This is pure creamy horseshit virtue signalling. The same wankers were splooginig over themselves at the thought of getting dicked by a bear in BG3.

Absolutely disgusting!!

What anime is this? --- asking so that I can watch it in sheer disapproval.

The actual Snowpeak 'plot'. :p

For me, the really gross part about this game isn't the sexualized character designs...it's their use in the context of a gacha game, designed to suck all your money with no limits.

I've played those before and already paid the price for my lack of impulse control, which is precisely why I will no longer pay into any of them.

Disgusting

They're clearly abusing the naiveness of the weaboos and keeping them in a perpetual cycle of worthlessness

Coomers have single-handedly killed JRPGs

Now we can't have nice things anymore, everything must revolve around coomers
You know, other than your clear ignorance of what psychological reactance is, the desperation for attention isn't really helping your case...

The biggest highlight of this, is the devs are from china and once again prove that at this moment, if you are a game developer, you would rather be in China or Russia than the democratic west! This is such tragedy and US is undergoing great cultural depression. Economic depression in late 1920s and great cultural depression in 2020s, almost 100 years later. Seems like coded in fate that some sort of depression will happen every 100 years in the US, What a disaster.

Ok, I don't get it.

The VAs started the job then refused to continue it when they saw the "hot" parts? After signing a contract?

Why not sue for contract breach and then go after others VAs or a (more) professional VA business to outsource the dubbing?

I get the idea to can the entire English dub, but it's probably not that hard to get other VAs to do the job...

Downloading the game right now.
Not for the plot but for the lewd, the gameplay isn't so bad tbh, thank you.

Gave this game a try because of the lewd outrage, actually not bad gameplay but yikes the English voice were annoying I had to switch to Japanese one. Another big issue with this game is the environment which really felt really barren as if I was playing in a training room, completely lifeless.

Not every game needs to be for everyone, some games will appeal to certain groups and they shouldn't feel ashamed about it.

Their is literally a STEAM game where you play an orc massaging monster girls they're a group of people who enjoy playing these types of games.

"bUt tHe mALe GaZE" the industry is really a clown fest.

I know this sounds pathetic to people, but to a lot of people it is a niche that they want to be explored. It is a "need".

They want to engage in escapism, or self-insert stuff, circled around "waifus". Either because is fun, or because they want to cope with certain things in their life.

There's quite literally nothing offensive about it.

And I know that these same people would be okay with something that is meant to be pleasing to LGBTQ people. We have seen it with Hades 2 ("Safe Horny") and Baldur's Gate 3 (Just unapologetic horny).

They want that niche too, for them. And that's FINE. Just like is fine for straight people to want that too.

I'm completely unbiased here, because I'm in the camp that is excited about Metaphor: ReFantazio. A game that supposedly has no waifu or horny/romantic self insert content. I don't like waifu shit, it's mind-numbingly boring to me.

But the argument against the fan service of Snowbreak screams inconsistency and biase.

If you are gonna take issue with fan service, go hard and deep about it. Don't be against the shit that doesn't make you dick or pussy wet, and okay with shit that does.
I didn't hear any complaints about Witcher 3 taking his shirt off.

To quote that Tim Walz guy: mind your own damn business.

Lewdness/“sexualization” can be explained as “comical amusement about sexuality” whether expressed through attire or the visual arts or dance, all throughout human history since ancient times to the present an be found works of art of this nature (like look up “fertility figures” and tell me those aren’t just ancient “waifu” figurines haha). I’ve been meaning to ask which college course is it that taught people otherwise? Is it also taught otherwise in K-12 or on certain parts of social media? Was it traumatic cancellation from the #metoo period? Paranoia that lewdness in the visual arts and fashion means something harmful rather than something playful?

I’d say that creators interested in expressing that comical amusement should just do it and boldly assert that it is comical amusement. There was a YouTube video I saw yesterday where they said in the past, being able to playfully joke about what was amusing about each others’ superficial differences between the races was a healthy expression of a society where those differences ultimately don’t matter (a colorblind society) and I daresay that lewdness when producing entertainment is the same way of playfully coexisting with the opposite sex :p

Crazy to me that Google balked at this. The game has fanservice, sure, but it's not the level of Brown Dust 2 or any of the kusoge games that are just hentai .pngs. I'd like to think this was either an automated system, report trolling by unhinged haters, or some SJW at Google crying and shitting their pants because of some boobs.

BD2 has hardcore lewd animations but then the story has no sexiness at all and you can't interact with your companionship, so Snowbreak is proudly at the top of the degenerate club IMO.

You miss BD2's octopus tentacle bondage and Dalvi gangbang parts from the last summer event? Snowbreak is more harem wholesome than degen from anything I've seen.

Damn, I'm still fresh in the game. I joined for this summer event with Nebris (lol that animation) DJ Bouncy (that animation pulled me in) and Dalvi. So glad I got them all but still missing a lot of hot stuff.

It's a weird situation since the same build that was rejected by Google was approved by Apple for release on iOS. I'm quite curious to see how the situation evolves.

Based on this response on Discord they might have to adjust the promo assets (and maybe some in-game ones, too?) they're using on their product page for Google Play Store.

Just have to say what a based response that person gave about creative freedom and not pandering to opinions, as if these people could nuke you if you didn't pander to them (as western devs believe).
