So far what has been your favourite game this generation?

10 of the best

Fatal Frame
Beyond Good & Evil
Ninja Gaiden
Halo
Soul Calibur (if DC counted)
Jet Set Radio Future (must be only person to prefer it to Jet Grind Radio)
Orta
Pro Evo 3
Metroid Prime
KOTOR

Top honours to Fatal Frame; sequel is great too

There are a lot of knee-jerk answers that I can give, but I won't do that. It really comes down to which game that, no matter how many times I "beat" it, I keep coming back to over and over again.

Agreed.

KOTOR

Honorable mentions

GTA3
GTA:VC
Halo
Halo 2
Super Mario Sunshine
RE: Remake
Rogue Leader
Morrowind GOTY:ED
MGS2
Super Smash Bros melee
Animal Crossing
Soul Caliber 2

Since the question is 'favorite' as opposed to 'best'.....

Console:
Ninja Gaiden
Mark of Kri
Halo 1
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Steel Battalion (that controller....I mean...wow. Too bad LOC sucked)
Genma Onimusha - the xbox port

PC:
Diablo II by a frickin' mile. And then some. Nothing else comes close.

I guess I'll go with PSO for GC. Never put so many hours into any other game in my life. I'll never touch it again, but the memories live on forever.

Difficult, difficult desicion...

Tales of Symphonia
Soul Calibur 2
World of Warcraft
All 3 Nippon Ichi titles

There's been about a dozen that fall into the "enjoyed heavily" category, though.

Civilization 3 with both expansion packs and some mods is my favorite game of all time, let alone this generation. It never gets old.

Halo series for me.

close behind:
GTA3
MGS3
Metroid Prime (not Echos though. Feels like too much of a chore)
Shenmue series.

This generation has been so nice to all of us. :D

Metroid Prime 2: Echos

at first i was meh about it, but it sucked me in. I wish the screw attack allowed more lateral movement, but great anyway

If we're talking strictly console stuff I'd have to with MGS3. VF4 Evo and San Andreas would be #2 and #3.

If we're limiting stuff to consoles (not sure what a "generation" would mean for PC gaming, anyway), then add another vote for Rez. xsarien said everything that needs to be said about that game.

By far the game that had the biggest "Holy shit..." factor on me this generation was...surprisingly enough...Soul Reaver 2.

The gameplay mechanics were flawed...there were a sad lack of boss fights, but my god if that story didn't completely enthrall me from start to finish. I still go back and read the script every now and then.

As far as sheerly impressing me on a mechanical level, metroid prime.

As far as providing the best gameplay experience, Ninja Gaiden.

But I think Soul Reaver will have the largest lasting memory for me.

Nice to see you mention 'Beyond Good & Evil'. Really charming and magical game.

Reminded me of the 'Little Big Adventure' games (which were also French).

Pro Evolution Soccer 2 & 3. Only because both titles had me hooked to the PS2 for 2 years non-stop. No other game has made me play week in and week out, not even the free-roaming of GTA in 3D can suffice to the juggernaut. Number 4 is good but I think I need to wait for the next generation of PES/WE to be impressed once again. 10 in-game seasons for both will do that to you.

Pirates!, easy. (if it runs on xhouse as well as it does on my 3-year old pc, I'll be happy with it). Remake of my favorite game ever is going to score big bias point, though...

Followed by PSO, then I don't know what afterwards.

PS2:
Kingdom Hearts/Shadow hearts 1&2

GC:
SSBM/Zelda:Wind Waker

GBA:
Fire Emblem/KH:COM

Ahh this is tough to nail down here.

I'm a huge beatemup fan so instantly Buffy,ShenMue, and Indiana Jones and the emperor's tomb.

I also like the racing genre allot-OutRun2 and RallySport 2 are my favorites.

So....

ShenMue 1 and 2.
Buffy
Indy
RallySport2
OutRun2

Screw picking one out of that bunch, cause I just can't do it.

here's my top 10 in order

1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty
3. Dark Cloud 2
4. The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker
5. Tales Of Symphonia
6. Metriod Prime
7. Gran Turismo 3: A-SPEC
8. Devil May Cry
9. Zone Of The Enders: The Second Runner
10. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time

The Legend Of Zelda: The Ocarina Of Time Master Quest is one of my favourites. This generation was the first time I played it but since it was made for Nintendo 64 I didnt put it down.

I'm also enjoying Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within but I have not completed them

Honestly I guess say it's between Ninja Gaiden, Halo, and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on the Consoles Systems. I'd probably give the nod to NInja Gaiden because from start to finished my jaw was on the ground at just how great looking the game looked in all aspects and the controls just really flowed after awhile. Only complaint was that the camera shouldn't have been as tight as it was on the character during fights.

I'm going to definately say Metroid Prime, although all the MGS3 praise make me really regreat selling my PS2 to my cousin. Oh well, I'm sure it'll just provide an excuse to buy one of the new slim PS2s...assuming I can track down the Gamestop employee I'll likely have to perform fellatio on to actually get ahold of one. :lol

Man, after all the praise that Ninja Gaiden is getting, I need to get an Xbox for this and Halo 2. None of my friends have either of these games.

As for Tedtropy, you should feel bad for selling your PS2. MGS3 is the greatest game ever.

I would have to say I was most addicted to SC:Pandorra Tomorrow when it was at its height on Live.

Single player would probably got to Metroid Prime.

PC - Half-Life 2. Runner up would be Quake 3, which, after all these DC games are listed, must be this gen.

Console - IIDX series (8th), probably, though it's a tough call.

I just never played the thing. Naturally the moment I sell it everyone is saying MGS3 is the greatest thing ever.

The game that sucked me in the most and robbed me of my desire to sleep was Fable. For some reason I was just instantly drawn in to the story and couldn't stop playing. It gets the #1 spot for my favorite game.

If I had to pick a #2 it would be Splinter Cell followed closely by BG&E, KotOR and KotOR II.

I'm anticipating that Jade Empire will own everything though. :)

I guess the reasons why I bought this gen's consoles has to be my favorites... PGR1 and FFX. Followed by PGR2, RSC1/RSC2, HALO1/HALO2, SegaGT2K2, CMR3/4/5, GT3-ASpec

Of course I'm a car/driving nut... and have gotten my yearly share of NBA2Kx from Sega...
