Sonic Generations |OT| What Sonic can learn from Sonic

After turning on Sonic Generations, it claims that my save file is corrupted after choosing my storage. I decide to move the file on a usb, and it still says that my file is corrupted. I decide to check my storage, and my file doesn't show any signs of being corrupted. Usually when a save file is corrupted on the Xbox 360, it would have a yellow exclamation mark next to the file. Anyone else have this problem?

For those interested, supposedly the Casino Night Pinball DLC is up on the Asian Xbox Marketplace now.

320 Allards.

It'd be cheaper to just buy the XBLA or Steam release of Sonic 2 and play until you reach Casino Night Zone.

The Sonic Generations pinball table is a nice novelty but not worth $4.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't pay that much for the Casino Night Pinball thing. It's nice fun, but not worth $4 at all.

So I ended up going back and S-Ranking the challenges that I didn't S-rank before, just speedrunning most of the levels I liked in the past week or so, and I think I'm liking the game more than I did at launch. Hell, I even like the final boss a little better now that I know what to do in order to S-rank it and never be touched (got the trophy for it a few weeks ago), but it's still an utter mess and they never should have gone with that default music; I went with Live and Learn and What I'm Made Of for it today, and I pulled off flawless victories multiple times.

I think the enjoyment and thrill of the game comes from learning the level designs and upper pathways in order to speed through them. I used to have so much trouble with Seaside Hill, for example, but when I got the Red Rings for those a month ago, I finally learned the upper paths, and the level became much better as a result for me. I went through both Seaside Hill Acts yesterday and I enjoyed myself a lot more because I know the level maps really well. I guess that's why I like Crisis City so much, aside from it being a significant improvement from the 2006 level original. Both of them are so fun when you're trying to speed through them (particularly with Homing Attack/Thunder Shield for Classic Sonic or Double Boost/Refill Boost for Modern Sonic), and when you learn the maps for both of them, then it's quite fun to go through over and over.

Despite "inaccurate physics", "Vector Challenges are stupid", "final boss is a mess", "Classic Planet Wisp has poor balancing between wisp and hedgehog platforming" and "really strong spindash", the game was really damn fun. I still prefer Colours over it, but if Sonic Team can design Modern Levels that are just as good as Modern Sky Sanctuary, Modern Speed Highway or Modern Rooftop Run, then I'll be happy. Hell, if they go back to the Classic Sonic route and reuse that delightful model for another game... and design levels that are just as good as Classic Sky Sanctuary, Classic Speed Highway, Classic City Escape, Classic Seaside Hill, Classic Crisis City and Classic Rooftop Run, I'll be super-happy. They just need to make the spindash not overpowered.

Just no levels like Classic Planet Wisp, mmkay?

okay guys i got sonic generations on PC. I've noticed that the graphic options are not that very advanced. I've got a 580 gtx so i'm wondering is there anything else i can do to make the graphics extra good?

The last boss in this game has got to be one of the absolute worst moments in Sonic franchise history. We are talking sub-2006 levels of complete and utter dross.

It also would be nice to have a boss which didn't mean going round a track ad nauseam until you register the required number of hits. Awful.

A few of us had the impression that the final segment of the game was rushed, especially with regards to how the final boss, and how to get there, were handled. Utterly disappointing. It was a visual and audio mess.

With practice, you can beat the final boss without taking damage at all... and I'd highly suggest changing the music. The default music is quite subpar in comparison to the other tracks you can use. It's strange, because lately, Sonic soundtracks have been including really great final boss themes in Unleashed, Colours... and even... and even Sonic 2006.

The 3DS version of the final boss actually looks nice (turn on the 3D for maximum enjoyment), the objectives are clearer, and it plays better. Too bad you can't really change the music for it, but it's much better than the HD version by comparison.

I think the worst part about the final boss is the shitty friends chatter constantly, but none of them really explain what to do. It winds up being a bunch of annoying white noise

I wasnt sure if I was even supposed to hold boost or not since for a while it didnt even look like I was making any distance to the boss. Terrible.

Well lets not sell them too short, they warned us about homing attacks.

I know, right? It wasn't until my fifth time through it that I realized that you had to hold boost, and you didn't even have to bother with changing to Classic Sonic's 2D perspective except for when the boss is about to use the laser.

"SWITCH WITH THE TRIANGLE BUTTON. THAT'S A HOMING ATTACK. BE CAREFUL SONIC."

Grrrr... SHUT UP, Tails! All of this is just useless info. The only thing that might be useful is the laser quote, but even then, you can clearly see it charging up, so you just need to switch to 2D so it fires in the wrong direction. In fact, you can do this with the homing drills too. I haven't tried it with the hands, though.

I'd also advise turning the subtitles off. I had the subtitles on and they just get in the damn way all the time. Urgh, whoever made the decision that the friends should talk during the boss battle was clearly hard of hearing.

Did anyone have Omochao turned on during the final boss? How was that?

Why dudn't they do some kind of stage compilation through time for the final boss? Or why not a final boss boss compilation from past game? Would gave been awesome. .

I don't know how I got an S Rank on Vector's challenge for Rooftop Run, but I did. o___o

EDIT: The trophy for not getting hit during the Final Boss can eat a dick. That and the Ranking one are the only ones I need for a Plat.

Thats what should have happened. Or at least pull a lavos, and have the last boss mimic various final bosses from past games.

lol wtf was that final boss. Them and silver were the worst parts of the game, god damn. Fuck that. Cute story, loved it. Wish there was more of this game to plaaaay.

Yeah, the final boss was a piece of crap. Not really hard, but extremely annoying. Still, I had a bunch of fun with Generations. Now time to move on to AssCreedRev as soon as I complete Classic Sonic's levels for ranked.

Silver wasn't that bad. I mean, it took me a while to figure out "Oh I can homing attack those cars" but once I did it was smooth sailing.
Fucking Shadow, I had no idea what I was doing at all. I luckily beat him in one try, but fuck knows what I did to achieve that.

It was the stupid fucking rolling ball at the end that got me. Everytime I got to that portion I had no boost. It was futile as shit where are the god damn rings. I dodge everything this dumbass throws at me and straight can't catch up with him because I don't have boost. Second to last time I had boost, but I jumped at him right when he went into a random as fuck throw or something and I got kicked under the ball and I died. Raaaaage.

It really feels like they didn't actually play the final boss at all when they made it. I mean the constant chatter from your friends, the lack of feeling like you're even moving towards the boss, "how about....." "..." "THIS!" It's a complete mishmash of a boss. Colors final boss was pretty good, and the unleashed one was pretty terrible.

Unleashed's final boss was frustrating, but it was epic as fuck. You fought as a Goliath made of ancient ruins. That part made me :O

It was also led up to by the really exciting (thanks to the music) Egg Dragoon fight. Sure it follows the "defeat eggman to fight the REALLL final boss" formula, but it's been one of the more memorable ones to me. Colors was excellent too, <3 Terminal Velocity. Sigh, fuck Generation's anticlimactic, annoying buggy final boss.

My god I hate planet wisp. It starts out alright, but everything in the factory area is garbage as far as I'm concerned. Unlike the other levels, I have no desire to ever replay it.

On the brighter side, Rooftop Run was incredible! Certainly one of the easier levels, but the shortcuts were a blast and it has a nice flow.

The opening was really good. Felt like a modern version of Windy Valley from Adventure.
I liked some of the stuff in the factory, but its so goddamn long jesus.

I liked Wisp, was neat. Took me 20 minutes to get done in modern though, 17 in in Classic. The mechanics take forever to get down and they both had sections where it was like "what the hell am I supposed to be even doing here" but not in an aggravating way.

I'm pretty much new to Sonic. I bought Generations on Steam and started it yesterday... and I am terrible.

I like that it offers two different playstyles. I seem to enjoy the modern Sonic's levels more because I'm just plain bad at Classic Sonic ones. In Classic I feel like I'm always being stopped so boosting is usless, yet I feel like I have to do it because it just feels too slow otherwise.

I really liked the City Escape level for Modern Sonic. Gotta admit the music was part of the reason. And the truck. Ridiculous (in a good way).

Played through Speed City. This game is fantastic. Gorgeous to look out, the soundtrack gets your attention, and the gameplay is great, even on the modern Sonic levels. It's like Sega actually figured it out: keep the elements of the Genesis games that made the franchise such a hit in the first place and build off that without too many gimmicks. The levels are well-paced and have a lot of secrets and alternate routes, you're rewarded for thinking outside the box and looking around. I dislike having to do challenges in order to get to the boss. It kind of kills the pacing of the game, the challenge stuff should be extra for when I want to try something different from the main levels, not mandatory.

Can't wait to see the later levels. I'm extremely impressed by this title so far, it may be the best Sonic game I've played since the Genesis days.

This game needs more metal sonic because metal sonic is a G. Replace silver sonic and shadow sonic with metal sonic because fuck the world.

I beat all 45 extra missions today for classic and modern sonic, finally.

Most of them were fun but I do hope DLC is not just this kind of stuff.
