Nope, Modern Crisis City all day with some Classic Planet Wisp, Death Egg Robo and Final Boss Phase 1 throughoutGreen Scar said:Has anyone else been listening to City Escape Modern on loop? :lol
Green Scar said:HELL NO. I fucking hate the classic version, it's just weak. The track needs the loud-as-hell guitars.

Odd, because SEGA confirmed the release dates for the 3DS version a week or two ago. Must've gotten delayed again (I thought the NP release date was outdated, but oh well).Nora Kisaragi said:Good news everyone!

I honestly don't think SEGA knows what they are doing with the release date for the 3DS version. It looks like they had planned to delay it at one point, with so many places listing a release date for next year.Dark Schala said:Odd, because SEGA confirmed the release dates for the 3DS version a week or two ago. Regardless, that version needs work. A delay might be a good thing; it doesn't need to meet the time period for the 20th anniversary. I just want a good game.

Especially since some don't seem to realize that the level of graphics present aren't really possible on the consoles at 60 FPS, some seem to think it's just like Sega forgot to flick the 60 FPS switch.

It's a good thing I just skimmed it over without processing many details except for the concluding paragraph. Actually, that's kind of what I've done for most of these European reviews.Miri said:That Game Informer review blatantly spoils the end of the game. Do not read, if you're wanting to go in fresh.

Doesn't matter because the game looks fantastic to me at the moment and I don't really care much for reviews (a lot of the games I like very much have not been highly rated; ex: Suikoden II - GameSpot score: 7.6). We'll see when I play it, of course, but as of right now I'm still pretty hyped for the game.

...There's a great deal of game here, which speaks to just how smart Sega is in iterating on a small collection of stages, rather than going the usual route of wasting valuable HD assets on a series of sprawling (and typically unplayable) levels for Sonic to get lost in. If the inevitable sequel to Generations offers the same refinements Sonic 2 brought to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's blue rodent might just completely emerge from the pit of embarrassment he slowly dug for himself throughout the '00s.
Oh man the rail grinding and controls were so bad in Sonic Heroes. It got to where I'd just switch to Tails since he went slower and had a chance to get back on the rails if the spastic controls made him miss.Nocturnowl said:URRRRRRGH! that there sums up my thoughts on the rail canyon stages of Sonic Heroes...
Rail canyon: Well it looks nice, immediately the player is greeted by the random grinding controls which seem to work by spamming the b button (GC version, oh yes) so that Sonic and chums are constantly flipping around like a few screws have come loose which is quite appropriate as a good majority of the rails in this stage are prone to falling apart. You know I was playing this and thinking "boy this game really does get some undeserved hate, yep it's pretty decent for one of the feared 3D Sonic games and this rail canyon isn't that ba-WHY DID YOU FALL THROUGH THE RAIL?!"
This stage was a disaster, I died at least 6 times at the same checkpoint, only one of those deaths did I feel was my fault, punished for going too fast, punished for going too slow, punished for daring to try and play the game! This stage could have been good, what's not to love about trains of death? the stage is pretty much autopilot except occasionally it decides to kill you for laughs, well i'm not laughing at all.
The true low-light was a section with shield enemies and a pole that would raise upon killing the enemies, so the plan is to sonic tornado the enemy shields away except that for no apparent reason when putting the input in for the tornado move Sonic would zoom over to the unraised pole and suddenly shoot off the stage to his death and I had no way to stop it, and brilliantly this wasn't a one off glitch as I died two more times this way until I decided that maybe, just maybe the Sonic Tornado wasn't worth trying here.
Bullet Station: More of the same but worse! boring slow switch finding sections? oh yeah we got them! At one point you get fired out a massive cannon sending sonic hurtling through a canyon at high speeds, upon emerging through this cannon I veered right to hit an item balloon, got a 1 up which was immediately cashed in since Sonic suddenly dropped down the gap in between three grind rails.
The random kart sections return, except now with dangers! laser grids must be jumped over, brilliantly they are coloured red in a stage full of red, orange and brown, I tripped three of these leading to the most odd death in Sonic game history, Tails just kind of hopped off the kart as the last one of the team, landed on the wide platform which could be easily walked across, stood still and then I lost a life, yeah lets ignore the fact Tails is very much alive.
The final moment has you using another giant cannon section to blast into an Eggman base which is like made of cardboard I guess since there was nothing inside it, why he has a cannon aiming at his base I have no clue.

EDIT: ...Is there seriously 5 Chaos Emeralds in this game? And why did I get a 1-Up in the special stage? What the fuck :l
EDIT2: Enemies respawn too... what? And what the hell is with the [?] monitor showing me the Robotnik icon when hit and then do absolutely NOTHING. And why is the spindash so slow?
EDIT3: Okay I think I understand the Chaos Emerald concept for this game. Act 1 only rewards you with 1-Ups. Act 2 rewards you with a Chaos Emerald. Kind of silly but whatever. Also, what's with the double jump? lol
Playing the Master System version if anyone is wondering.
I love the style that the white box has, just sonic looking at sonic, no bullshit or random colours and logos.Dark Schala said:Sums up my experience with Sonic Heroes. My eyes do not get along with that game very much at all; it makes me nauseous. :/
Edit: French Site jeuxcapt.com has an unboxing video of the PAL Sonic Generations Collector's Edition. Check it out! (FF to 3 minutes in for them to actually start talking about the CE).
And this confirms that the soundtrack that comes with the CE is a compilation of Sonic themes from the 20 year history of Sonic. The tracklist that I caught from the video is this:
As far as I can tell, it is exactly the same as the tracklist of the History of the First Stage preorder soundtracks that Japan is getting for both Sonic Generations White Time and Space and Sonic Generations: Blue Adventure. The tracklists for those CDs are in this post.
Meanwhile, North America gets nothing, lol!
So far I just find it really mediocre. I had extemely low expectations though. The levels are extremely short and piss easy (only lose 10 rings per hit? wtf?). Even with the long lava sections, I can just jump on the lava river taking hits but never in danger of losing a life. And the special stages are laughably easy and boring. 50 rings and no hazards to make me lose them? Really SEGA?Combichristoffersen said:So, what do you think so far? Also, the final boss you get to after getting all the emeralds is apparently quite hard

Overall... I ALMOST prefer this over Sonic 4. But it might be too early to compare. Though, I'd imagine this game being a big pain in the ass for the Game Gear version because of the awful resolution and how the sprites are huge.
