Sonic Generations |OT| What Sonic can learn from Sonic

Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster got 81. Sonic team must feel like what's the point. lets just make Sonic 12 for the kids next year, get a nice bonus for next Christmas too and fuck all the effort of getting games out of the alpha stage.

Uh, you do realise that sesame street was made by double fine right.

If you were browsing for RANDOM LICENSED GAME #42, you chose a bad example.

Am I the only one that is worried to use skills? It seems altering some of these things may make the feel of the game different, maybe make it easier, etc. It's like adjusting things that shouldn't be adjusted. Like stop instantly, land on feet after being damaged etc

The final boss fight is just about the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen in a Sonic game, and I say that as someone who beat Shadow and '06. I'd almost rather play Silver's Dusty Desert again than revisit this.

Shame what is otherwise a pretty damn good game has to be capped off like that.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I love City Escape and Speed Highways (Modern Sonic). Though there's something about City Escape...

WTF at the truck, it has razor blades and it... Flies? Hardcore man.

I'm so curious to play this boss. It's crazy to think they could screw up the final boss so badly considering most the rest the game is quality.

Wow. Thats a hefty claim. Without spoilers, could you describe or explain this somehow?

It's one of those Super Sonic flying through space bosses, but you can't see rings coming your way, it controls really poorly and it really just comes down to being lucky since constantly moving toward it doesn't mean he won't just warp back a thousand feet.

It's also upsetting because you can see the breakdown coming with Egg Dragoon's janky fight, but at least that one still worked... mostly.

What? No! It's different enough that works well, and close enough that makes it nostalgic.
Blegh. I think its awful. But, I'm not big on the whole remix fad either...so that could contribute to why I dislike it.

I have mixed feelings about City Escape for Classic. The song is very catchy but I'm not a fan of autotune, they just sound weird.

Just played the Steam version. 60 FPS is definitely the way to play. I have no clue why they couldn't get this game running at 60 on consoles. So while I feel the console versions are marred by that a little, this is easily the best Sonic game I've played since 1994

Hedgehog engine is powerful stuff?

I'm not sure any of you can answer this but here it goes.

Is the US version of Sonic Generations compatible with a Japanese system? Sonic Unleashed was but I can't count on it being the case this time around. It would suck to import the game only to find it doesn't work.

I know the Asian version will work but I'd prefer the US version as I can get it cheaper.

If anybody here has access to a Japanese XBOX 360 and a US copy of Generations can you test it and let me know if the game works? Thanks.

People were playing the UK collector's edition on US systems so I don't think there's any region locking on it. No idea about that specific scenario though.

i can't play with my 360 controller, actually this my first time trying to play a PC game using a joystick.... what do i need to do??
the driver is successfully installed and the Microsoft software is ready but still i can't make it work.

Do you need to do something special to unlock the Genesis in the hub? It's not where it was on the Giant Bomb quick look, and I don't see the Sonic 1 unlock in the store. Unless the PC version just doesn't have it.

Also, uploaded my best run of Chemical Plant Modern so far:

When I bought Generations off of Steam I got a Sega Classic pack for free with it. Maybe they didn't include it because of that.

No wai.

No Sonic 06 stage for 3DS?
Nope. The only representation 06 will get is Silver's boss fight! Meanwhile Sonic Heroes' levels aren't included but its special stages are.

Is it wired, or do you have a wireless adapter?

So I've logged over 11 hours played out of the 13 it's been out, have all challenges done, have all S ranks, most of the red star rings, and a 40th place time of Green Hill Act 1 on the leaderboards. Time for SEGA to release another Sonic game or some DLC for me.

Finally beat all the missions, a mixed bag they are indeed. One of the Planet Wisp missions was actually kind of what I was hoping planet wisp would feature a lot of, the mission in question is the one that makes use of all of modern sonic's various moves like the wall jump, slide, stomp and so on, that was good stuff and works as a nice final test as opposed to just using rockets and riding rail platforms.
Vector's rooftop run mission is still the king of crap in the game, I have no idea were they thinking with that one, it only serves to display camera and homing attack issues.

Upon replaying some stages I found that some of those stages I felt were weaker became a lot more fun, mainly classic crisis city and classic planet wisp (music change is mandatory and some of the final spike sections are still awkward and not so fun though).
Anyone else feel that Classic sonic could use just a bit more height on his jump? the amount of times i've missed platforms by the smallest of margins bugs me or those ever present late game situations of having an enemy waiting near the edge of a platform so when you do just about make it up you usually get smacked in the face.
Also after a quick play of the original Sonic I think classic Sonic could do with some swifter recovery time after being hit. Aside from that though Classic is enjoyable though I prefer playing modern.

Makes sense, but just wanted to be sure. I mean, if I really wanna play Sonic 1 I have about 15 different ways to do so.

Mine arrived this morning too, thanks Amazon!

Only played Green hill and the modern half of Chemical Plant so far (been working on a collectors edition quick unboxing video inbetween playing it) but also played the Casino Night and so far it's actually my favourite part, so additive. Shame there doesn't appear to be any trophies attached to it, but still can see me coming back to this again and again to beat my score.

Darn it, my pre-order didn't arrive on time.

I wanted to the full game and PC version is quite cheap... Must resist temptation...

PC guys, any of you tried running this in 3D yet? i loved how it looked in 3D in the console demo, but the framerate took numerous dumps running it that way.

Anyone have a download link for the game in 60 fps? Youtube cuts it in half, so I cant really get a sense of how it plays.

If you don't mind a 228MB file I recorded a short clip (49 seconds) from Green hill act 1 @ 60fps. Link

Could someone tell me how to unlock the
third act of each world (if there's one, but the game keeps telling me there's one
?

Thanks

Only up to Seaside Hill so far, man that level is pretty glitchy with Modern Sonic :/

Speed Highway, on the other hand, is just perfect.
