On the balance I'd have said keep in City Escape since Adventure 1 IMO has a stronger suite of levels to pick from, at least thematically. Adventure 2 has...City Escape, the one harbor level, the night-time city as Shadow and...two forest levels? And that space thing at the end.
Speed Highway wasn't needed, since City Escape was already there. Besides, Speed Highway doesn't really represent what I thought Sonic Adventure was all about.

But which level from Generations would be in Generations 2? (A sequel needs to do the right thing and separate 3 and Knuckles, plus have a proper CD level. Also, throw in a Rush level, preferably Dead Line).

The final SA2 stage for Sonic was Final Rush and it was fantastic, especially for multiplayer races. Space Place makes me chuckle though, if it were a DKC stage than maybe it would get such a glorious name.
Green Hill Zone
Casino Night Zone
Hydrocity Zone
Lava Reef Zone
City Escape
(Not qualified to give an opinion on Heroes.)
Crisis City
Savannah Citadel
Sweet Mountain
Not complaining at all about the levels as they are, though. The only one I don't care much for is Rooftop Run.
From the stage selection, to the very poor graphics, to lack of modern Sonic gameplay (it's still 2D, just with homing attack and boost), it's all a missed opportunity.
Went ahead and gave it a rent. I'll pick it up on PC soon enough. I love it. It definitely feels like all the trial and error Sonic Team's had with 3D sonic over the years has paid off. The 2D levels please me the most, though. I wish we had more side-scrollers.
Does the PC version have the sonic 1 port within it? I beat the game but don't see the controller available at the shop or the genesis in green hill zone.
I thought Act 1 of Unleashed Rooftop Run was better than Modern Generations...!
Also
Green Hill
Oil Ocean (but really, Hill Top zone)
Ice Cap
Lava Reef/Hidden Palace
Lost World
Metal Harbour
(lol Heroes)
Kingdom Valley
Dragon Road
Sweet Mountain
Using Tails to fly in Chemical Zone just made me smile. It reminded me of the old days I used to spend playing Sonic 3 with my sister and she'd be Tails and help me get to secrets and stuff.

Collision Chaos (Sonic CD) would be an interesting choice to be redone Generations style. Just imagine that insane bumper part near the end in 3D. Hehe.
Absolutely hands down my favorite level of Sonic Adventure 2. Hopefully there's robust DLC coming and not just more minigames themed into old zones of Sonic.
GHZ (because I dunno what else to put)
Mystic Cave
Ice Cap
Lost World
City Escape
Casino Park
Radical Train
Arid Sands (just for that music)
Aquarium Park (again, music)
I'd also have Flying Battery (S+K), Palmtree Panic (SCD) and Dead Line (Rush), ideally.
Thats what I meant, Arid Sands. Where did I get Dusty Desert from lol.

Green Hill Zone
Chemical Plant Zone
Ice Cap Zone
Red Mountain (Act 1 would basically be Lava Reef)
City Escape
Seaside Hill
Kingdom Valley
Dragon Road
Planet Wisp
Sonic 1: Green Hill Zone
Sonic 2: Chemical Plant Zone
Sonic 3: Flying Battery or Ice Cap
Sonic & Knuckles: Lava Reef
Sonic Adventure: Lost World, Sky Deck or Windy Valley (preferrably Lost World or Sky Deck)
Sonic Adventure 2: Dunno, never bothered completing it
Sonic Heroes: Seaside Hill
Sonic '06: Dunno, haven't played it
Sonic Unleashed: Only played the PS2 version, and I can't really think of any levels that were particularly memorable
Sonic Colours: Haven't played it
Also, Sunset Park act 3 music should be in there somewhere.
I love this game, but for some reason, I'm in the vast minority that seem to enjoy Unleashed more. Is this wrong? I just feel Unleashed is a bigger/longer game overall. This seems like a really short game.
lol, I found myself singing that in the lab the other day. It's really catchy!
Here are the ones I have so far:
1) Near the beginning of the stage: jump and use the boost to land on a railing in the sky for this one.
2) Requires lightspeed dash. After the first building, go up the floating platforms and stick to the left side. Go through the rainbow ring, do tricks to get to the red hoop and lightspeed dash a row of rings to get it.
3) When racing down the building, there's a one hiding behind some pillars just a bit to the right-hand side.
4) Soon after getting onto the highway (with the turns), look carefully after taking your first turn that there's a ramp. Boost to jog down the highway until you see boosters and blue containers. Don't break the blue containers, but turn, left to a booster and a catwalk. Jump and get the red ring.
I keep forgetting to get the fifth one (the one on the main route, where you bust through the blue containers that I told you to avoid for the fourth ring). It's floating in the air with rainbow rings, so you have to jump for it.
I just got back from not being able to find one last one and ironically it was the first one that you had to grind
to get at the start. Imagine my amazement -- especially since I literally went through the whole stage trying to find where I was missing one, and it was RIGHT AT THE START
I also beat the story. Jesus Christ, I love this game.
I've noticed that not switching to 2D perspective helps. Use it if you want to gather rings better or if you want to evade attacks better (by making classic dash to get rid of the homing missiles that look like Drill Wisps--this is if you're going for the trophy/achievement). For most of the time, you want to be in behind-the-back perspective. Keep boosting and head straight for his core. Evade when his hands glow green and go straight for the pink core and hold until the hit registers (you'll know when it does--and stay in the middle to get the rings that he spews out). Keep gathering rings to stay in the fight.
When he moves out of the vortex, you can't attack him so just keep going and gathering rings until he comes back in.

Yeah Speed Highway was great and all, but they should've put in Red Mountain or Lost World. I would say Windy Valley, but that style of zone seems to be covered by Sky Sanctuary. Ice Cap really didnt have much going for it.
City Escape was fine, but Metal Harbor might have been better. Or whatever that Pyramid area was called.
I would have gone:
Green Hill
Chemical Plant, Casino Night, Wing Fortress or Metropolis
Lava Reef, Flying Battery, or Hydrocity
Windy Valley or Lost World
Metal Harbor or Final Rush
Seaside Hill or Egg Fleet
None really from the last 3 but if I HAD to pick
Crisis City or Kingdom Valley
Rooftop Run, Eggman Land, or Arid Sands
Planet Wisp, Asteroid Coaster, or Starlight Carnival
At several points as modern Sonic, it would not let me fly up. I was just anchored to the bottom of the screen. The camera would also frequently flip out because it sometimes has collision detection with the homing missiles for some reason?!
