Sonic Lost World Wii U Exclusive

Mario x Sonic Kart by the both respective teams collaborating would be interesting. I kinda want Mario Kart to become Nintendo Kart and have them throw in characters like Kirby and Link but that may be too much when it comes to deciding which characters to go with and which items to replace.

I think SEGA went ahead and made the crossover kart racer their thing, so hopefully Nintendo don't step on their heels too much. I think if anything happens, it could just be Mario playable in ASR (which would be a nice return for SEGA letting Sonic gatecrash Nintendo's crossover), given SEGA's love of guest appearances in the ASR games, but we'll see.

There's quite a lot to get out of the SA2:B Chao Garden, actually. It's got a more complex system than current Tamagotchi programs (due to more stats and stuff); divorce it from the main game and leave it as a side-attraction, I bet more people would like it then.

I still don't think it would work. There's not enough meat in the mode. It works very well complementing the main platforming, but by itself it would get stale. They'd need to change some of the gameplay design of the garden so are actually doing more stuff.

And also find a way to raise the chao easier and faster. How long that took in the other games worked because one could do that between platforming sections.

Ohtani and company will almost certainly be back. It isn't modern Sonic with Kenichi Tokoi and Fumie Kumatani, either.

Ehh, I'm not into Ohtani aside from Knux Rap and Billy Hatcher.

Tokoi did the kick ass music in SA1 like I believe Final Egg, the Ice Cap Snowboard track, and Red Mountain among others.

Kumatani is my sweetheart, she did Mystic Ruins, the Chao Music, Supporting Me (Bioloizard), basically all of the beautiful violin and piano music.

Mariko Nanba worked on Billy as well, and did Aquatic Base in 2006, another song with a gorgeous piano intro (the rest of the song kinda sucks).

But Jun needs to be back as Sound Director, basically in charge, he brings out the best in everyone. His absence in Colors was pretty painful to me, I did not like Color's soundtrack aside from a couple of songs (mostly the theme song and related).

I'm sure he's helping in Sochi, but surely he's back in LW as well, what else would he be doing after two years? More than enough time to work on both games.

handhelds (us only)

1. sonic advance (gba) - 1.25m
2. sonic rush (ds) - 1.2m
3. sonic advance 2 (gba) - 740k
4. sonic advance 3 (gba) - 700k
5. sonic rivals (psp)
6. sonic classic collection (ds)

8. sonic rush adventure (ds) - 350k
9. sonic generations (3ds) - 300k
10. sonic rivals 2 (psp) - 200k

Rivals 1 did that well? O_o Would've though both bombed.

These are US only sales. Missing the spinoffs though (Shuffle, Racing 1-2, Mario & Sonic 1-3, etc).

Also worth noting:

Secret Rings Wii > The Hedgehog 2006 360 + PS3 combined
Unleashed Wii > Unleashed 360 + PS3 combined
Colors Wii > Generations 360 + PS3 combined
Generations 3DS > Generations 360 + PS3 combined

HA HA HA!!!

Put that way it's HILARIOUS, and people question Sonic doing better on Nintendo systems, my god.

This partnership as some said above, should've been cemented since GC, would've saved Sega millions, I mean it must hurt knowing a version with a fraction of the graphical budget out doing the main blockbuster HD version.

It took long enough, but it finally happened.

wouldn't be a total shock if they're helping out on MK8 (along with sonic appearing in it)
This is my thinking, as well.

I remember hearing a decade ago that Sonic was going to be in Double Dash but negotiations broke down over whether Sonic had to be in a kart and Naka in particular was insistent he not be, but the double-kart mechanic was fairly fundamental to that game, so it was all just dropped.

Clearly there is no longer anyone at Sega that would be upset if Sonic were driving something now.

I see the kart argument, but Naka founded the Olympics idea.

I remember in 2005 it was announced/rumored? (by Naka I think) that a GC exclusive game was underway, think this was just before Shadow was unveiled. Don't know what happened to that, maybe it was Riders but they made it multiplatform at the last minute?

This is awesome news for Sonic not because it's Wii U exclusive, but because if Nintendo EAD helps it will probably be the best Somic game since the Genesis games.

That's really depressing! Makes me wonder how an HD!Generations port on the Wii U would sell.

I think that and Transformed could've sold side-by-side, or made Gens for right now in Spring.

Sonic and Mario Kart, eh?

My idea is this:

Sonic in Mario Kart, and Mario in Sonic All-Stars Racing.

SASR would be the 3rd exclusive if so, but I hope it's a second mainline platformer.

And I agree with the above (as I said) that there's no reason to doubt the partnership continuing after the 3, hell wasn't the Platinum deal 3 games but Anarchy Reigns was a later 4th one announced?

Sonic Colours is the best Sonic game ever, including 2D and 3D titles (in my opinion). I don't think it'll be an easy thing topping it but I rejoice at the news of Sega making an attempt.

They aren't two wrongs bro.

Sega: a fallen from grace hardware company forced into now sinking third party development.

+

Nintendo: the manufacturer of one of the biggest console bombs in a long time.

Seems like two wrongs to me. The notion of the former somehow coming to save the latter is pretty funny.

Can't agree on best overall, but it's certainly the front runner of all the 3D games thus far which automatically places it under Sonic 2 for me in the franchise.

Sonic 3&K > Sonic 1 > Sonic CD > Sonic 2.

If Nintendo has been as resources strapped as they've indicated, Sumo would be the team to contract to get Mario Kart 8 out in 2013. And it's not like we don't know Nintendo has outsourced (insourced) MK development before.

No one seriously things Sega is going to save Wii U.

Ohtani was music director for Unleased, though. And I prefer that soundtrack to Colors' as well.

Additional racing mechanics, garden content, and complexity of Chao AI would be necessary to make it fully worth purchasing, yes. I never said they should straight-dump the SA2:B version, just that the investment's relatively safe compared to a whole new Sonic. Unless the former A-LIFE programmers and designers have moved on, a phone app or eShop.

And also find a way to raise the chao easier and faster. How long that took in the other games worked because one could do that between platforming sections.
This would be the hardest thing to fix, since the Chaos Drive system would be obsolete if the game's standalone.

Sonic Colors was so great. This is really a system seller for me. That picture is gorgeous too. Can't wait to play this.

Nintendo must have a ton of money. They are publishing Bravely Default in the West, they apparently have an agreement over Monster Hunter, and now this? Damn.

Well, I'm excited to see what this title turns out to be.
