SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4 or AGAINST |OT| of Huelen in Green-Eyed Heaven

You still don't understand it.

My theory is that because it uses the Sonic Rush physics, Sonic's movement is off because they programmed that poorly. The rest is just to show how broken that stuff is which is not the point I'm making. It's just to confirm it's Sonic Rush. That's all. I'm not here hyping on what weird stuff happens when you press buttons.

Sonic's movement has been that way for a long time since Sonic Rush. That's my theory. SEGA won't change it for Episode 2 since no one wants to make a big deal about it.

"The Sonic Rush engine is very poor at the beginning, much, much glitchier in the middle, and then poor again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine."

Got 50'67 on SH Act 1. Speed isn't a reward for momentum, it's a reward for skill.

Surprised at all the homing attack fans, but I agree. It's a good addition.

Bonus levels hunh? My favorite is Saturn 3-D Blast followed by Sonic Rush and the 3 "non-spheres" bonus levels in Sonic 3. I did like the bonus levels in this game. They were very challenging but not impossible.

<_<

>_>

I think Sonic 4 is better than Sonic CD. "Runs like hell again" Wooop!!Woopwoopwoop!

agreed, saturn 3d blast was the best of all the special stages... was the only bit developed by sonic team I believe, the rest of the game was rubbish

Given the phyics system, I feel like the homing attack works really well.

Funny, spotlight is only showing me the trailers.

EDIT Went into browse on game marketplace and now it's showing up. Weird.

Jesus christ microsoft.

I have to leave for classes in an hour and a half and still need to shower. I wanted to play the trial before I left, so show me the download link.

Edit: Same thing as Robbie. Finally.

Lately i've had problems with xbox.com, right now the demo tells me to enter a code, and sometimes my ability to buy stuff is ignored.

Worked for me, but yeah, Xbox.com is a piece of shit generally.

firefox and chrome doing the same problem for me, most likely a UK region thing, same shit happened with monday night combat the demo was up late and then unable to buy it until about 4 hours later, shitty service.

Jesus christ, they couldn't even give us two acts for a trial? -____-

Graphics are nice, physics are shit. I also don't like how you don't have to use the homing attack, but it is definitely encouraged.

Also, it seems to be a big ass hold right fest, at least that act did.

Well it is act 1 of the first zone, pretty expected to be simple and easy. They probably should have thrown in an act from a different world, so you'd have more than like 1-3 minutes of game to try.

What the? The graphics are a little different from the PS3 demo. He's super shiny here!! Too damn shiny! Lemme run the PS3 demo and check............

...........

Yup. He's shinier alright. Got them on the same TV HDMI and 1080P. Colors are a little better on PS3 version as well. Odd.

Sonic 4 360. Shiny edition.:lol

To be fair, and this is coming from me, green hill zone 1 was also a hold right fest though you did have to jump at least twice :p

The trial might have been better giving one of the middle acts if it's too simple, sega don't want ot scare too many people away giving you labyrinth act 2 in the trial :lol

So is it worth the money or avoid like the plague?

Maybe when it's on sale for 400 MSP. That's the impression I got from the trial. I feel like it could be worth it, but they did a shitty job on trial selection, especially for new people. No boss, a simple (TOO simple) ass 1 minute level, not more than that. Yeah, not a good job.

Not a fan, I felt like the game was playing itself for me. Constantly bouncing off one bumper to another and then into a booster into a loop-de-loop etc. I know it's just the first act but damn the game felt like it was on auto-pilot.

Keep in mind that with the current spend 2400 points get 800 back deal, if you get another 1200 point game this month (And there seems to be some good ones coming like Super Meat Boy and Costume Quest) you will effectively be getting Sonic 4 for 400 points when you get your 800 back. That's making me consider it right now, but I haven't had a chance to download the trial yet so I'll have to see how that goes.

I must admit, the only time I ever truly felt I was in full control of Sonic and everything hinged on my reflexes alone was the final boss in Sonic 2.

Splash Hill was underwhelming and Casino Street was outright frustrating (fell in to the same bottomless pit seven times in a row, but that's okay, the game gave me nearly 30 free 1ups in Act 2 alone!).

Moving on to Lost Labyrinth now.

Yeah, they should have provided at least all the first zone's acts, preferably including the boss. Even Rocket Knight's demo had multiple stages (though it stops just before getting to fight the first main boss).

What about being under water at all? Hill Top? And your memory of Metropolis zone must be completely gone.

I assume you're only talking about Sonic 2, because there are plenty of examples in S1/S3&K

Speed shoes = glue shoes, you can WALK up huge walls and keep on accelerating.

Normal sonic can walk around a loop with only about 1.5 sonic lenghs run up before the slope starts.

There is a trick to stick to every vertical wall as long as it has grass on it, must be a collision thing as walls will always drop you off at 0 speed.

sonic's air momentum and rolling is beyond fucked, it's fucking atrocious!

Game looks smooth in 1080p but the visuals still have a amateur 3dsmax feel to it all, shitty lighting on everything.

Game is just bad, the trial just shows me exactly what I know already, a dimps engine not suitable for classic gameplay and which did not need homing attacks at all if they actually thought about level design and classic gameplay. fuck you dimps and sega you blew your last chance with me, don't call this cess pool sonic game a direct sequel to sonic & knuckles if you can't fucking deliver.

I had to log into my US gamertag because the UK marketplace has been shit this year for updating on time.

Also, Sonic unfurling (WHY DID THEY DO THIS?) annoyed me on three different fucking occasions within that 2 minutes. Not to mention that cunty animation for him falling :|

I've heard of that name tag before, ok who is it?

You have no idea how frustrating it is to be launched off a powerful spring and have Sonic stop flat in mid air because you weren't holding the direction you were launched in. I've had it happen several times and it's even gotten me killed.

Despite all of the hullaballoo before release I figured I would at least be able to enjoy the game but I was ready to call it quits for the night at Casino Street.

Edit:

Same asshole who is dominating the Sonic Adventure XBLA leaderboards with hacked scores and times.

Oh yes, can't forget frantically trying to escape the mega-mack on the moving platforms in Chemical Plant. Metropolis and Wing Fortress bosses were pretty challenging too. But I hated Metropolis and the exploding starfish badniks and block them out of memory as much as possible. :D

I only have the trial but I can see what you mean, first 10 or so springs I hit in the trial I naturally didn't hold right straight away, same with rolling off a ledge sonic will suddenly drop down like you pressed B in sonic adventure.

Sounds like Yuji Naka

His Xbox Live profile bio proclaims that he is a male model and has a message akin to "Yeah, I'm a Sonic fan. So what? Fuck the haters!"

He's also had 1000/1000 points in Sonic 4 for months now. Combined with shit like this:

TV2010092220431900.jpg

It's shocking he hasn't been completely banned from XBL by now. I don't think Sega cares enough about any of their leaderboards to do anything about the guy.

I miss the yellow/red springs from the older sonic games, one generic red bumper doesn't cut it for variety.

I also miss items and springs hidden in trees, in splash hill zone you never go BEHIND any of the palm trees, always in front of them which makes them all feel so flat.
