Oh great. Naruto imagery has invaded the Sonic community forum. Next, we'll be seeing One Piece and MLP .gifs.

I won't allow this and I seriously mean it.

Anime gifs? Sure as long as they aren't questionable/fanservice bs. They're completely okay with me.

but MLP gifs... ugghhhhhhhh seriously the most annoying gifs. Don't care if I'm being too bossy, I just have no tolerance for that.

Fuck no. Phantom, you fucking know better.

qq, quit complaining about what avatar you're going to get when you're not putting the work into it. At this rate, what we all discussed is going to come true. Is that understood?

Knock it off, guys. This is actually getting somewhat annoying now. Let's talk Sonic, alright?

Gee, it'd be nice for Sega to show a new console game starring its mascot at E3, what's his name again?
I think they're going to show off that Sonic 1 Taxman thing. As for a new console Sonic, it'd be disappointing if they don't announce anything now. It's almost May now and still nothing. I think before, we usually got this stuff unveiled from Feb-April. Here, it's kind of weird. Despite having two phone games being revealed this year.

It'd be a shame if that's all we're going to get.

Also, I'm going for 100%ing Sonic CD today.

calm down schala '`'

but you have a point i suppose

in speaking of Sonic, I think AtS is coming out tomorrow judging by the comments from people on the soundcloud pages?

I'm not mad! I just had to be a little more firm about this than normal. Sheesh. I don't think I was the only one feeling that way about that. Just kinda tone it down, alright?

Anyway, I'm psyched for After the Sequel. You've been hyping up that game quite a bit. I hope it's better than Before the Sequel. And you make the soundtrack sound better than its predecessor's.

Yeah I apologize for that. I'm feeling kind of stressed out today, so I'm not exactly in the greatest mood now.

And yeah, AtS is totally a better game than BtS was. I can say that for sure, no doubt. The OST? It really depends on the taste I think. Maybe I just listened to BtS's OST to death but I find AtS's OST better thus far.

There's new Sonic news to talk about? It's just a problem you're gonna face when it seems Sega just tends to forget about their moneymaker at times. You can only hype up the Sonic/Megaman crossover so much and not everyone reads the comics.

Yayyy! I'm a trendsetter!

I didn't care much for getting all the Robot Generators and Metal Sonic Holograms, but the Time Trial stuff was super fun. Especially on the special stage. Don't understand what the point of the extra special stage is, though.

Football Manager, I think.

Getting all perfects, that's the tricky bit. Sort of.

Well I mean if you want to be an absolute show off, you can go for that. I think getting them all in one shot without screwing up is tough. I remember one of the emeralds in Sonic and Knuckles had you changing direction while going backwards or...yea something like that. In my younger years, I could do that with ease...I'm not so sure about that now.

I still refuse to touch Sonic 2's special stages. Or Sonic CD. Or Sonic 1 for that matter. I can't after Sonic 3 and Knuckles did them so perfect.

newsarama preview

"Evil bro fist" Oh man! Ha ha!
lol, I saw those last night and I had to laugh. Like I said to a few others, I love the inks and pencilling in these issues. Speaking of which, MM #25 is apparently out for subscribers right now. I'm jealous!

I'll post the preview pages video in the Worlds Collide thread when Bean's finished with his video for it (probably tomorrow).

...I'd be disappointed if anything less happened.
Doin' some of the Time Attack stuff right now. Much easier than what I was doing in Sonic 4: Episode 2 earlier on. I think I'm going to have to do two playthroughs of this, since you can't get the Time Stone trophy + the Generators trophy in one go. Unfortunate. I wish I'd thought of that before, but hindsight is always 20/20.

That's the President of SonicGAF's job. (No, I don't think we have).

Anyone got some tips with respect to doing the speedruns for Wacky Workbench? Metallic Madness's problem is now solved. Wacky Workbench is the other silly one. Tidal Tempest is one I have little trouble with, surprisingly. Stardust Speedway is around 3 minutes, so I'm okay with that one. I could stand to shave a little bit off of Collision Chaos.

I do realize that I have to stay close to the ground for this. WW Act 1, I'm fine with, and I have my head wrapped around it already.

Man, I remember my old posts about Wacky Workbench:

This map drives me insane. Why do you drive me mad, Wacky Workbench Act 1? Why? Is it because no path is safe?

It's like they went straight up crazy and decided that their players were masochists (I'm exaggerating, but I don't like this map).

This. It's stupidly annoying.

WHAT IS THIS?

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS

Edit: I just remembered that the Past version of this portion of the map is even worse.

Wacky Workbench is like they want to piss you off as much as possible. What the fuck was with the electrical coils everywhere... and the damn bouncing floors?????? Aghhhh

So I'm up to ten out of twelve now for Sonic CD. Will continue this on Thursday evening since I need to study for something.

I replayed the game twice so I could figure out how to do stuff for the time attack and learn the level layout a little more. I'm gonna have to do two more playthroughs because, you can't get both the Time Stones trophy and the Metal Sonic Projectors / Robot Generators trophy in one go. For some reason. I dunno. Oddly, even though it was incredibly repetitive, I liked trying to get my speedruns down for the Time Attack trophy. It's just amazing how many things I can beat in under a minute or under 30 seconds if needed.

Wacky Workbench is still really stupid, and requires memorization and timing at times (well, mostly memorization). If you've got it down, it's not as bad as it is when you come back to it / play it for the first time.

I still think that these dumbass things are worth criticizing too (the looping Y-axes in Sonic 1/Sonic 4).

Wacky Workbench doesn't deserve its (US) music, for sure.

Well, besides the boss, but that goes without saying. All of CD's bosses are awesome.

It's level design frustrates the daylights out of me. I figure with the superior level design of Sonic 3 and Knuckles or Sonic 2, that game would be up there with the original Genesis games but that darn level design...=/

Well, that's the worst one. But it's fiiiiiiiiine.

Better than Sonic 2's pinball boss.
Okay, I'm gonna have to disagree on that. Sonic 2's pinball boss was more straightforward and easier than Sonic CD's pinball boss.

Sonic CD's pinball boss was nice aesthetically, though you have to learn how to manipulate some of the finicky flippers (ie: jump close to the edge as opposed to the wall attachment).

But this ain't hard to contend with:

Actually, I think Collision Chaos's boss was better than Casino Night's, if only because the way to beat him involved actually playing pinball. The mechanics are definitely inferior, but I have to give it credit for the better setup.

Trying to do that in Casino Night might be amusing, but it's not the easiest way to beat Eggman by any stretch of the imagination; he's way down low above the flippers, instead of at the top of the board. This means that if you DO try to play pinball to beat him, you won't have a clue where he is half the time, since he's way below you. It's much faster and easier to just spin dash back and forth along the corners of the half-pipe at the bottom as he comes overhead.

I remember the level select code because it's the date of my mother's birthday. (She shares a birthday with Naka, apparently!)

...And I'm just now realizing that the debug mode code is the game's release date. Neat.

I don't want to play pinball to beat Eggman. I just want to beat him.
The designers seem to want you to, though, hence why the arena was designed like a pinball table. That actually trying to do that is far less efficient than just attacking him head-on means their intended design kinda sucks.

Or the flippers are there to help you reach Eggman since he's out of jumping range.

Even then, the flippers send you way too high to justify using them over spindashing up the curves in the corners and jumping off the walls onto him, so I still consider it a failed concept.
