SHIT, HOORAH, YEAAAAAH *explosion*
It was the first thing I've noticed when he threw a punch. :lol
EDIT: I'm playing Rhythm Heaven DS and I'm stuck at Frog Hop 2. AUGH MY HANDS FROM THE CONSTANT TAPPING
Honestly, I really think this game would have benefited sooo much so if had Adventure 2's engine. Having a bit of fun, though.
I do want to point out that the levels in this game are longer than usual Sonic games, and I'm kind of sleepy right now so maybe I should come back to this later.
From what Guess Who said, it's not something worth your time anyway.
Best Review:
I liked Sonic Heroes as a child
Confession time. I never beat Sonic Heroes. Rented it when it came out, got stuck at a casino stage, and ragequit. Yeah, pretty sad story :l
I don't blame you. You should at least check out the final boss, if only for the music.
Sonic games have a strange way of befuddling me. Aside from that casino level which I just couldn't figure out, I almost ragequit at a stage in Shadow the Hedgehog. I think it was Mad Matrix. It involved travelling along beams of light inside a computer and I recall the mechanic requiring almost a stupid level of precision and/or timing to succeed.
Strange thing is I almost never get stonewalled on anything non-puzzle related in games, so to ragequit one Sonic game and almost ragequit another makes me feel totally inadequate. They're platformers!
I think it is. I think the music's great. It also coined QTEs. It was one of the best-looking games I'd laid my eyes on at that point in time. If Shenmue didn't exist, we probably would not have taken a large step towards the open city-esque type of game seen in Yakuza, Sleepy Dawgs, and later Grand Theft Auto games. Is Shenmue good? I don't want to know why as I kind of don't want to be spoiled too much, but it's like the one Dreamcast game (other than that creepy Seaman game I'm never going to play) I haven't tried yet.
Short levels were exactly like I only finished the game as Team Rose :S
...The levels are actually longer for Team Dark? I barely played as them :x

Honestly, that game was truly ahead of its time. I think even if it's not your genre of choice, people should give it a shot just once.
Few things:
And because I want to keep a little archive of this... Stuff I've beaten so far:
- I feel better about my posting abilities now, thanks to someone else. That made me feel down for a portion of the night, so I'm happy now. Verbosity and being in-depth isn't getting you anywhere on GAF at the moment, but I'm happy that there are some people both on and off of GAF who like that sort of thing. I'll continue doin' what I'm doin' because that's just my posting style.
- I don't think I'll ever bring myself to like Sonic Heroes. I forced myself through that game (I mean that I had to take Gravol while playing it because it just made me feel nauseous) for nothing decent in return outside of perhaps What I'm Made Of and a few other music tracks. Outside of that, I really don't like it. I don't like how it looks, I don't like the level length, I don't like the script, I don't like the structure... I don't really like that much about it in general. It's one of those Sonic games that I just can't bring myself to go back to at all. I completely understand what they were going for, and on paper, it's a neat idea. The execution, though... oy.
- Paper Mario: Sticker Star has some dope music, yo. Too bad the game... could be better.
- Time Travelers (Vita)
- Guacamelee (Vita/PS3)
- Dragon Fantasy Book I (Vita)
- Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)
- Thomas Was Alone (Vita)
- Asura's Wrath (PS3)
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3)
- Sora no Kiseki: The 3rd (technically this year) (PSP)
- HarmoKnight (3DS)
- Parodius Portable (PSP)
- Super Mario 64 (Wii VC/N64)
- Mad Father (PC)
- Corpse Party: Book of Shadows (PSP)
- Rockman 2 Complete Works (Vita/PS1)
- Rockman 3 Complete Works (Vita/PS1)
- Rockman 4 Complete Works (Vita/PS1)
- Secret Files: Tunguska (DS)
- Misao (PC)
- Ib (PC)
- Get Dumped â (PC)
Hiatus: Conception: Ore no Kodomo wo Undekure! (PSP) - Though I was almost finished this one, so I should finish it off soon.
Seems to be on Hiatus: Mega Man Starforce: Leo (DS) - Er. I should finish this off too.
Shit I should really go back to: DmC: Devil May Cry, Ni no Kuni, Tales of Xillia 2 (all PS3)
Kinda wondering what I'd beaten and what I hadn't this year. Not counting the games I've played before like Mega Man 8. Hm. Thank God I posted in the Whatcha Been Playin' threads and held on to the subscriptions for those. That's where I keep all of my impressions in one neat and tidy place. Plus they're usually my favourite threads on GAF outside of this one and the FF Playthrough thread.
Oh, Sen no Kiseki's out on September 26th, so I should budget for that. I'm so excited! I know I don't have to play Ao for it, but I should! HYPE. I should get my butt onto playing Zero Evo for it, too.

I've only played the first one, and not since like 2001 or so, but essentially: yes. It is. It's kind of like an adventure game of sorts, except with a (very lenient) time limit and a rather large world to explore (even if a fully-explorable world from any given sandbox game lets you check out more of the city in question, Shenmue lets you interact with more of the minutia, I think).I'm actually wanting some generic short answers if anyone would about a question I have. Asking here instead of the Shenmue thread as you guys are pretty diverse in views.

I liked how I was Knuckle and fucking hitting things while fisting Sonic and Tails.

Don't forget the torch puzzle. Hey, remember the part where you have to blow out the torches that are ABOVE THE PITS? WHYYYYeah, Team Dark levels are the longest, which makes a real chore to go through. Of course, Team Chaotix levels IMO are even worse, just because their objectives in each stage are fundamentally different. You would think this would make it more bearable, BUT NOPE. It's like they took the concept of Knuckles' stages and somehow made it even worse.
Team Rose really is the only way I could tolerate replaying Sonic Heroes. Maybe Team Sonic on a good day.
The controls definitely takes some time to get used to. It's rather different, but on the bright side it's still very playable. Thankfully it's easier to get used to than MonHun3's.Been playing Shemue for the past couple days; game controls weird as fuck but I like it so far. For some reason I can't seem to figure out the Dreamcast controller and keep getting the A and B buttons mixed up, so when I finally got my first QTE and a big "A" flash on the screen my first instinct was hit to B instead. D'oh.

Why do I own Sonic Unleashed?

After Mega Man comes....Pirates! Looks like a sequel to both "Sonic Rush Adventure" and the "Team Treasure Tango" story arc. I bet Captain Whiskers and Johnny show up.
Daytime levels.
Still a better game than Adventure 1 or 2.
Why do I own Sonic Unleashed?
Yep.No offense but I hate your efficient understanding of Sun Runes =/ Time Travelers is by Level 5 right?
I'd forgotten that the Dreamcast controller was kind of wonky! Hahaha. Glad you're likin' it. I know you were excited to play it.Been playing Shemue for the past couple days; game controls weird as fuck but I like it so far. I was too late; I'm sorry.Schala help
Well, no. I wrote impressions for the game in the old Sonic thread and I'm still sticking to them. The game truly lacks challenge and a sense of progression. It also lacks a reason as to why I should be progressing despite being within an RPG genre. I miss some of the NPCs and enemy designs.Even though I actually like Sticker Star... I definitely agree the game could've been so much better. I never got why people defended the lack of story. I mean I don't really play Mario games for the story but Paper Mario is an exception because it's an RPG. And stories in Paper Mario are usually part of the charm. Also hated how every single enemy were unoriginal... they're all taken from the SMB/NSMB platformer games. I think the only creative enemies were just half of the bosses... but even so... where has the creativity gone?? I had a lot of fun with the battle system though, but it was honestly pointless half of the times since there's no level up system. Lame.
The music on the other hand... possibly the best soundtrack of the series. It's soooooooo good.
I completely agree. I love Unleashed despite some of its balancing issues and some faults. I like it better than the Adventure games, anyway. Step in the right direction for the day levels.Daytime levels.
Still a better game than Adventure 1 or 2.
That's why people stopped talking about it, Village. That's why I didn't bring up the exact quote because Panda fixed it.
Let's just move on now. Because everyone else did. Aside from you.
I kinda-sorta 100%'d Generations, I guess.I've yet to 100 percent a 3D Sonic game.
Music for the game was great though.
Never have I hated a rapping reptile more than I do Vector's stage.
Hmm... Generations, Colours, Heroes, probably Shadow since I got all the endings.I've yet to 100 percent a 3D Sonic game.
Music for the game was great though.
Yeah, it's not too hard to S-rank that because it's a fairly fast mission anyway.I got an S-Rank on Vector's mission. Y'all some suckas.
Back to heroes, I couldn't rationalize a good game out of that.
