I was unaware that the PS4 actually launched in the US until I entered this thread in the morning and witnessed Anihawk's woes. I feel like a chump henchman from a stealth game being caught so unaware, so much for me thinking that they were throwing the game reviews out early.
Addressing the point above that reminded me of said PS4, a bit of patience goes a long way, more games will of course come out in the future so just hold onto it until then? unless there's any money related issues otherwise I feel waiting it out is the most sensible option as opposed to selling and repurchasing.

Not strictly related to the above but I'm reminded of a slightly related issue that tends to crop up in the months post console launches where you no doubt get people suffering regret and even some oddly placed anger at the fact that their shiny new box isn't in constant use due to inevitable post launch doldrums, it's something I'll never quite understand like some people are constantly caught unaware of what they're getting into picking something up in the early stages or not scoping out games to look forward to in the future to justify a console purchase.

Noi and I neglected to mention that we'd finished Puppeteer this weekend. He has loftier impressions than I do, so if he ever decides to post impressions, he could, and I'll append whatever I have to say to them.
This made me check my post game impressions from the OT, I'm not even sure if I stand by what I said back then and I appear to be dancing around a point I don't want to fully address.
Sort of conflicted is how I feel I guess.

I beat Hidden World Zone 1 in Lost World... by doing literally nothing.

*stares at victory screen in disbelief*

Isn't it just great? to think that usually the timer running out kills the player and here we appear to be fighting against it but in fact it's now its the instrument of your success in what is otherwise an unexplained never ending battle against killer rubik's cubes until you give up from tedium.

The more I think about the stage the more bemused I get, what in the bluest of blue hell were they thinking?! same thought applies to the whole Hidden Zone and its band of rejected concepts that must have snuck back in due to some rogues at Sonic Team.

It's for farming flickies. You get more flickies the more cubes you beat. It never ends.

The last Flicky gate is unlocked before the hidden zone though right? unless there's like an optional mission that require mass amounting of flickies to pass then this only serves to puzzle me further.

Yeah, Zone 1 is dumb as hell. It.. it WHAT WAS ITS PURPOSE?! THERE WAS NO CLEAR GOAL, NO PURPOSE, NO REASON TO ACTUALLY BEAT UP THE CUBES, THEY REWARD YOU NOTHING. NOTHING. IT'S ENDLESS. NO SCORES OR 1UPS OR ANYTHING.

Hidden World Zone 2 is kind of bleh, but it's not too bad after a while... it's just... weak and feels unfinished in a way. Nice throwback to SA2's Tails theme though.

Hidden World Zone 3 was actually decent, though a bit slow at parts but it's better than 50% of the game, which sadly says something about the game itself...

Zone 4... I'm done. :|

EDIT: The last flicky gate is Hidden World Zone 4. 7000 flickies required, you can just go do the carnival shit (aka I CAN'T SEE WHERE SONIC IS MOST OF THE TIMES) to farm flickies.

EDIT2: oh wait, flickies are awarded through the cube stage? Do you get a bunch or is it just easier to go to the carnival stages?

I just went through the carnival of obstructive imagery to get the rest of the flickies, forgot about that last flicky gate being in the hidden world so it can't have required too much more.Speaking of flicky farming so that's where the vehicles were earned from? well I can't say it's anything worth farming for, at least not for me. The whole flicky concept in general comes across as a misfire on this occasion.
At the very least Hidden Zone 1 makes the smallest semblance of sense with this knowledge, not that the stage isn't still pretty damn bad in general.

When a console has games you want to play, buy it. If it doesn't? don't buy it.

It isn't that hard and shouldn't be a big drama. Get rid of it if you don't want it, shouldn't be too difficult

it was something of a series of unfortunate events in my case. believe it or not, i don't like conflict, so i tend to just go along with things if i get my way in the long run.

Sigh I just can't go on with Sonic LW 3DS =_=
I am World 3-1 and it just sin't clicking with me.

Bravely Default on the other hand was quite fun, dat music, dat traditional jRPG/Final Fantasy-esque presentation and setting, dat Brave and Default mechanic.
Can't wait to get it come December X3
One gripe though: Dragoon's are now Valkyries? I can get if that's the name for the females, but if Dragoon was the wrong term, why not just go with Lancer?

(and a PS4's in my room not hooking it up right now gonna nap or something i dunno. I know I'll import Yakuza in Feb, maybe.)

I picked up AssCreed: Pirates. I honestly don't have time to hook it up atm, since I'm busy with papers and exams this week. If I have issues, I'll take it to the Sorny Repair Centre nearby.

Do you have a link to your impressions, btw? Wanna see if anything matches up with mine.

I'm only up to stage 3-3 and I already have over 1000 animals, so *shrug*

That was my reaction too since I rescued so many early on in the game

but then the flicky requirement spiked up for no reason, so I was forced to grind... thankfully it doesn't take very long

Well here they are, I think I was trying to be nicer than I actually felt about the whole package.
Now a few months removed from when I first finished it I can say that one thing that really stings the game is a lack of it feeling replayable. Even with the extra heads, bonus rooms and souls to nab I just can't see myself going back to replay the stages due in part to their awkward pacing. Kind of comes off like a one run and done kind of deal to me right now which is unusual for the genre it resides in.

Puppeteer looked interesting to me when I found out it was like Dynamite Headdy 2. Then I found out its got a REALLY huge focus on storytelling and stopping for cute cutscenes and such, and I thought "well, maybe when its $20 bucks on Black Friday or something"

It was $20 some weeks ago if you were a Plus member.
Despite the story and cutscene focus, whenever you are in control of Kutaro, you don't have to listen to the narrator or the other characters just continue playing.
Although the dialog is really well presented and often funny.

I feel like I'm missing out on some joke.

Walked into Gamestop intending to buy the physical release of DuckTales Remastered, left with it as well as a Vita and ASRT.

Not exactly sure why I picked it up since I really only plan to use it as a portable ASRT/UMVC3 (and eventually FFX) machine, but whatever. Another device to play my PS1 titles on are nice, I guess.

Mine's still basically just a Mortal Kombat 9/Final Fantasy system a year and a half in. Nice console, just nothing I really want to play on it.

SonicGAF's Song of the Day - #53

Song: Sir Percival... The Knight of the Grail
Game: Sonic and the Black Knight
Composer: Jun Senoue

I'm not gonna hit too many cutscene tracks, as most of them are pretty bland, but a handful bear closer inspection.

SatBK brought back a bunch of SA1 and 2 character themes for various reasons, such as character introduction scenes. That plan ran into a snag when one of those characters was Blaze, who didn't have a theme. Senoue could've gone with Vela-Nova or something else from Rush, but instead he elected to set his guitar to Spanish and came up with this fiery little jam. The man can still hang with the rest of the sound team when he pushes himself a little bit and expands beyond his usual style. I just wish he'd do it more often. And that this was longer.

(shouldn't it be Dame Percival)

Played just the first Hyperdimension, worst game I bought at full price in the last 5 years. Easily.

Also, all this salt on LW makes me hype-y, if I'm lucky enough PES will suck even after the patch so I'll sell it with no remorse and use the money towards Sanics.

PS: you're my favourite thread, bye *blushes*

Stop doing this, you guys. Every time I see a post like this it just makes me want to try the game myself. I don't want Neptunia to show up on my trophy list, especially now that some of my family and friends know what it is.

imagine being a game tester on neptunia.

"Hey, er, I found a bug. Actually, I found a lot of bugs."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah, it's in a pretty bad way. It'd take you a lot of time and money to get clean this up. I'm gonna recommend cancelling the release. You're not gonna get away with releasing it in this state."
"Well, that's a shame. Could you demonstrate some of the bugs you've found?"
"...No."

"What's the most important thing about a game? Being able to fucking play it." - AVGN

Hoo boy. I don't have a Wii U, so I only just now got to try out the Lost World demo at Gamestop. I see why everyone looked like they were playing like ass in preview videos. The controls and the (lack of) speed definitely take some getting used to. Especially coming off of Generations. Plus, Sonic seems to have this kind of stiffness to him. Also, why are there two buttons for the kick attack? That actually confused me for a couple of minutes. The level was actually kind of bland as well. I felt like I was just going through the motions.
