I'd probably have been more interested in trying it if the three Genesis levels for Classic Sonic weren't copied verbatim from the games they came from.
I mean, shoot, Mushroom Hill 1 has the same starpost at the end of the stage - one that's meant to give you quick access to a miniboss they didn't include.

Yeah this bothered me a little bit as well. But at least I liked seeing Casino Night remade. Mushroom Hill was never that good to me, and the graphics for it are pretty bland.
Yeah, Sonic Riders was secretly a fun (if a little janky) game if you could get past the steep learning curve. I consider it a guilty pleasure given how panned it was by most.
Zero Gravity removes pretty much everything enjoyable about the first game. It is way slower, the gravity mechanic is difficult to use properly and sometimes doesn't even make any sense, and the whole "tension/release" feeling that I loved from the first game's trick system is completely gone. The board level up system was unnecessarily overcomplicated for no reason, too.
Typical Sonic game design mentality - throw out all the fun stuff and chase down some shitty new gimmicks (see also: Sonic Free Riders).
Sonic Riders the original is the only one I've played, and I quite liked it. Shame about the blisters I always get on my thumbs, thoughgame's just terrible about doing those analog circles for extra boost. But the stages are cool, mini-games are surprisingly-fun, and the act of boarding around a course is fun in itself. Turbulence is also a neat and nifty idea, as is the emphasis on sliding around corners and taking advantage of different shortcuts. More than any other Sonic game recently, I think the original SR shows just how impatient the modern-day process of "reviewing" games for enthusiast publications really is. Spend some time with the controls and you're good to go.
ZG just sounds bad, though, so I'll avoid it for the time being.
I really enjoyed Riders. It was more fun when I went back and played it last year or so. A lot of things about Zero Gravity pissed me off though. Like the story. And the gravity mechanics. And WHY THE FUCK DO I NEED TO USE THEM TO GET TO THE NEXT PART OF THE SONG FFFFFUUUUUUU-
But going back to play it along with Riders 1 wasn't so bad. I could bear it much more then then I could originally.
I picked up Free Riders a few months ago because it was cheap and I needed to play something on Kinect. Meehhhhhhhhhh.
Oh hey, we're taking about Battle again. *sequel begging, fond memories, and sequel begging go here*
Battle was cool too. It looked amazing for the time, and I bet it could be made even better on the 3DS. Give it to Dimps, so they can transfer their fighting game experience to Sonic for once.
What I remember most about Riders is how ruthless the AI was. If you didn't have the mechanics and the course layout down pat, forget about getting anything resembling a decent rank, much less first place. Good times.
And Battle just needs another lease on life in general. It's a lot like Sonic R in that there's obvious room for improvement, but it managed to be charming as hell anyway. I'd buy a direct sequel to either game sight unseen, which is more than I can say for the platformers.
Riders was a fun diversion. Zero-Gravity was meh and the gravity mechanics weren't great (but I've come to love Un-Gravitify as of late).
I don't know what Free Riders is like, but I've only seen a QL of it and it didn't look good. I should just pick it up on the cheap in case I ever get a 360 and/or a Kinect.
Battle's great (though it could be improved upon), while we're on the subject. I love how that game looks and sounds, and the spritework is nice. I'd go for a Sonic Battle sequel.

Part 107 of the 20 Years LP is up. Did someone say... crossover?!?!?
I remember all those old Olympic games which were boring and not that great. At least the M&S games seem... ok. I think. Well, they seem more palatable and more marketable. I wouldn't know.
The music seems good, but these guys didn't do a good job of making the game seem fun. (Maybe it isn't fun.)
Well, there was the rumor on TSSZ back in like... what was it, June? That the "next wave" of Dreamcast XBLA ports were going to be of "higher quality". Sonic Adventure 2 and Jet Set Radio were called out specifically in that same rumor, too.
So it's definitely possible that they would do Xbox Live multiplayer.
Then again, with the downsizing Sega's recently experienced...
I wouldn't mind a Sonic Battle sequel for 3DS. It'd be better than the original purely by virtue of having the characters actually exist in 3D space instead of making it a guessing game on whether or not you were actually lined up with an opponent.
Well, it did specifically single out Sonic games and the digital front as titles that were fairly safe for going ahead with, so I wouldn't rule it out...

Konami's Track and Field games are the kings of athletics games, and M&S are ultimately too similar to them with a inferior control scheme and a more casual feel that doesn't really do much for me, at least. It's also kinda bland- for the fact that this is Mario and Sonic coming together for the first time, the first game has real problems with a lack of identity or even blatant fanservice. There's Chaos and Pinatas in the crowd, sure, but even the unlockable dream events do fuck all to fire your fan synapse. The sequels do better with that stuff, but they're still pretty dull.
It's not that fun. If you think you're interested, just get the most recent IT&F for the DS. You can play as Pyramid Head!

Looked up IT&F and it seems alright. Might try it since it seems like it might be on the cheap now.
The blandness from M&S was pretty apparent from that LP video. It was kind of weird because I'd expected a little more coming from it considering it's a bit of a huge crossover. It seems boring, and it's unfortunate. It sells on name brand, and I guess it's fun in a group, but it doesn't seem like it's worth the investment in terms of fanservice or something like that. It just seems like generic Track and Field game with Mario and Sonic characters without much thought put into it.
Man, I didn't have a lot of sports games growing up. I had a lot of hand-me-downs, and these are most of the ones I liked:
Oddly, my older cousins liked football soccer a lot, yet didn't have a lot of games featuring the sport thus I was never really exposed to football games outside of Nintendo World Cup.
I don't really like sports games that much now, but eh, I'm always open to trying new things.

Was waiting for them to get to this. I don't think Unleashed is that bad. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone because a lot of the content seems like it requires an acquired taste, but I don't think it's bad for reasons I've gone over in this thread before.
