Kim Coates owned that scene.

Yeah, people knocked him for acting terrible in that scene but I think he did amazing.

I have no idea why. He was completely unhinged, tears and laughs and rage all mixing in a tornado of horrors, a man who has reached his singularity and can do nothing to escape it. It was one of the most sincere scenes of genuine grief I've seen on TV shows.

Kim Coates, by the way, is basically the best actor in this show.

People who criticized his acting were being ridiculous, imo. When someone watches their daughter burn alive I'm guessing they pass through a million emotional states in just a few seconds. I'm not sure how people expected him to act, but Tig's reaction was about as close to what a parent in that situation would feel as I can imagine.

Count me as one of those who did not like him in that scene. I would blame the writing and direction too, however. There was way too much talking and him bounding around in the background. All the "aww, baby" shit was so over the top ridiculous to me. It started to remind me of the worst line reading ever, except with better acting.

I'd have him just collapse in horror and beg for her life.

Tig was in shock. He went from denial to anger to bargaining over and over again as his brain tried to process the brutality of what he was about to witness.

Not only that, it was rank desperation. He was literally trying anyting to stop what was about to happen. He was a cornered animal with no way out. That is exactly how someone would react in that situation. There is nothing more horrifying than witnessing such a thing.

This comment is not for you, so please don't read the spoiler text. It's for people who have seen all of season 5. That said,

See you in a couple episodes. :(

^ Yup, figured that's how things would go down. Can't friggin' wait. My favorite show above even Breaking Bad. Sons may not be a better show but it just has so much pure entertainment value. I love it.

- THR: 'Sons of Anarchy' Gets Online Post-Show
FX is joining the post-show craze.

The cable network has greenlit Anarchy Afterword, a post-episode talk show for Kurt Sutter's Sons of Anarchy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The cable network has picked up three episodes of post-show. Each 30-minute installment will stream live on FX's website after the East Coast airing and be tied to the 90-minute season six premiere -- set for Sept. 10 -- as well as episode five and the season finale. FX will keep the content online for weeks so those who missed the live episode can catch it.

Chris Franjola (Chelsea Lately) will host each episode, which will likely include one or two commercial breaks. Sutter, who teased the news on Twitter, will join Franjola along with celebrity superfans and various cast members to be announced at a later date.

Anarchy Afterword joins a growing roster of live post-episode talk shows. AMC has found success with The Walking Dead companion The Talking Dead and has tapped its host, Chris Hardwick, to oversee a Talking Bad, a similar entry tied to the final season of Breaking Bad.

FX CEO John Landgraf recently told THR that the network is considering a companion series tied to Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's American Horror Story.

"I'd love to do it," Landgraf said in June. "We're thinking about it. If we do it I don't think we'll necessarily do it the way AMC does, as a linear thing. We might do an online thing. We haven't made a final decision but I think there's a decent possibility we're going to do something like that for Coven."

Considering it's just something that they're just going to stream online after the episode, I don't have a problem with it at all. Not something that I'm interested in, but I'm sure some people want more content and will check it out.

I completely agree. That they're seemingly becoming a trend is just funny to me.

So long as I don't have to see cringe-worthy commercials for it, I'm fine. I'm really tired of Chris Hardwick's face and nervous banter in the Talking Bad promos. AMC's practically begging me not to watch live, and just delay until I have a buffer on my DVR.

Fair enough. If they start running nonstop commercials for it or try to hold the promo for next week hostage in an attempt to make me tune in, then it's a distraction. But anything short of that isn't much of a bother.

Fuck you AMC! Still haven't seen next week's promo because I haven't bothered to watch Low Winter Sun yet.

What's wrong with more Sons?

Agree with you though partly, they can be really obnoxious tacked on to reality shows and the like.
I just don't really like that it seems to be becoming a trend and largely for the bolded in the CB post below.

I guess my impressions of the kind of show is based on AMC's versions of this, which is basically a grade A example of AMC's all to frequent full scumbag mode as of late.

caught the beginning of Stripes on AMC just now, and saw the recruiter that Bill Murray and Harold Ramis go to, and thought, he looked familiar.

It was William Lucking, who played Piney. Strange to see him young (and sans oxygen tank)

I do miss his character.

- "Are either of you homosexual?"

- "No, but we are willing to learn."

- "Yeah, would they send us some place special?"

:-D
