I can't wait until we get a S6 OT. That will probably be a week or two before the premiere, though.

I love this show. It's easily my favorite on tv. Is there any other show with such a wonderful blend of drama, action, violence, sex, dark humor, and various interesting relationships between complex characters? It has everything.

I think the show is a nice filler, but it feels sort of "soapy". There are plenty of better shows. Have you seen the third season of Boardwalk Empire? THAT was phenomenal TV.

I still like this show enough, but there are a ton of better shows on tv.

I'm not saying it's the absolute best show, but I think it's number one on pure entertainment value.

Even so, the only shows I'd put ahead of SoA in terms of overall quality would be Breaking Bad, Justified, and maybe Game of Thrones.

@ KaiserBecks - I thought season 3 of Boardwalk Empire was a step down. The show really missed the
Nucky/Jimmy
dynamic, and Gyp was not interesting to me at all. Still enjoyable but not as good as S1 or S2.

So, is this the season Donal Logue cleans house and executes all the Sons?

Aside from Chibs, there are no redeeming/anti-hero qualities with the remaining cast. It would be a fitting end if their ultimate downfall wasn't the result of a RICO or gang war, but one of the many incidental civilians who have died in their wake.

Every time award nominations are announced:

* Ctrl-F "Sons"
* Groan quietly
* Close tab
The show's fun, but it's not as good as most of the shows that get nominated. Although screw Homeland and the old Emmy voters who just vote for the same things year after year.

The show's essentially followed the same general "bad things happen to bad people" misery arc season after season, but nothing ever had the impact that Opie's wife's death had. The show kinda desensitizes you to it.

3:58 p.m. We start with a clip from the new season.
"I feel like my life is taking a turn," Jax says in voiceover. We see a kid. It's young Jax. Flash-forward to Charlie Hunnam. Clay in an orange jumpsuit. Maggie Siff in an orange jumper. Jax tells his sons, in his writing, to examine themselves and to find their own truth. Jimmy Smits is overseeing an unknown guy getting beaten up. Lots of Daddy Jax. And now clips. Peter Weller! Donal Logue! Jax in a knife fight! Chibs punching Juice! Tara punching somebody in prison! Jimmy Smits shooting somebody. JEEZ.

4:07 p.m. Does Sutter know what the last scene of the series is? "Big pool of blood," he replies. Long pause. "I have a sense of what I want the last scene of the show to be. How we're going to get there and what that looks like, I'm not really sure," Sutter adds.

4:26 p.m. How do the other Sons see the hatred between Jax and Clay playing out and can the club survive? "Bob Munson knows everything. He seems to be the only light at the end of the tunnel," Mark Boone Jr. says. "What the f*** is he talking about?" Perlman inquires. "It's total mayhem right now," Kim Coates says, promising that Tig is back on the leash this season and it's the Jax Leash, but warns that there are still secrets that aren't being shared.

4:36 p.m. "Sons of Anarchy" is moving into graphic novel formal. We've got a few of the covers on stage. They look a little badass. "I'm not sure why it's only about Tig, but it is," Sutter says looking at the two huge pictures of Kim Coates. The graphic novels will run parallel to the show, with new characters, plus some familiar characters as well.

- Press release via TVbtN: 'Sons of Anarchy' Season 6 to Premiere Tuesday, September 10 With 90 Minute Episode
FX launches the sixth season of its award-winning, top-rated drama Sons Of Anarchy on September 10 at 10 PM ET/PT with a special 90-minute episode and will continue to run on Tuesdays at 10 PM. The series is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones that explores a notorious Outlaw motorcycle club’s (MC) desire to protect its livelihood while ensuring that their simple, sheltered town of Charming, California remains exactly that, charming. The MC must confront threats from drug dealers, corporate developers, and overzealous law officers. Behind the MC’s familial lifestyle and legally thriving automotive shop is a ruthless and illegal arms business driven by the seduction of money, power, and blood.

Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is SAMCRO’s new President who must face the consequences of the MC’s illicit deeds before they tear the club apart. Gemma Teller-Morrow (Katey Sagal) is Jax’s formidable mother. Clarence ‘Clay’ Morrow (Ron Perlman) is Jax’s stepfather, the last of the Original Nine and former President. Dr. Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff) is Jax’s old lady and mother of his second son.

Having framed Clay for the murder of Damon Pope, Season Six begins with Jax’s leadership uncontested, but his family life suffering from his single-minded pursuit of John Teller’s vision. Jax must find a way to keep Tara from going to prison for conspiracy to commit murder while rebuilding his club and breaking from the cycle of violence and greed that ultimately led to his best friend’s death.

Sutter is teasing a controversial scene in the season 6 premiere that sets the events for the final two seasons into motion.

Well, we've had openers with Gemma being gang-raped, a drive-by shooting that killed a boy and ended with Jax hitting someone's head into cement, and Tig's daughter burned alive.

Geez, what could be even more shocking than those?

Seriously, what can be more haunting than last year's premiere ending?

Maybe it's not about dark and violent. Maybe by "extreme places" Sepinwall means the Sons go into space, recruited by NASA to stop an incoming meteor from colliding with Earth?

Maybe it's Irish blowback. Perhaps Galen basically goes to war with the Sons.

My other theory is that if Clay is still in jail, something terrible happens to him.

Yes.

I'd easily put it above Downton Abbey, Homeland, and House of Cards.

Just saw this. Eh, I disagree. The show spins its wheels far too often to be considered an A-tier drama. I certainly think it's better than Downton Abbey (which is a Tory wankfest), but I wouldn't say it's as good as Homeland or House of Cards. And that's acknowledging problems in both.

I realize you're a fan, but I would say that there are much bigger "snubs" than SOA in both drama and comedy.

It's a soap opera for the 18-49 male demo. Lets not get silly about awards.

I also don't really understand this. What does "soap opera" mean? That you don't like the serialized arc? We're way too quick to label serialized elements we don't like as "soapy" -- in fact, I'd say the best thing about Sons is the "soapy" relationships between the members of the club versus whatever outside antagonists there are. The internal politics of the club and their families are the most compelling aspect about the show.

So, yeah, what does "soapy" mean? Is there a definition? As much ridiculous tomfoolery happens on the show, there is very little in the dynamics of the character interactions that I would consider to be reminiscent of the worst aspects of a soap opera.

Don't we already know what the shocking thing is? Maybe it's not common knowledge but I'm pretty sure I already read that they will
depict a school shooting or something like that.
