Sony Gamescom 2010 Press Conference

OK, made it in. And we got 3D glasses! But you need to hand over your ID as insurance. Apparently 3D glasses are in high demand in Germany!

So Virtua Tennis 4 might be the announcement at the Sony conference? Pretty cool, but not what I expected (nor wanted, since I'd prefer SH or R3).

Yeah, real expensive to buy a Flip cam, plug it into a notebook and stream that shit to ustream.
Any cheap 14-yo attention whore can handle streaming financially.

It would cost $775m which is an illegal amount of money for a stream.

That probably wouldn't be good enough for Sony.

When they do streams they usually have cameramen and stuff. As with most conferences. There's probably an overhead in terms of what kind of venue you need for that too, one made for filming.

The blog, though, could get away with a more ghetto set up. Shame they aren't allowed, I guess.

Obviously, old men were involved in the decision process.

We're waiting in the lobby outside. We tried to check out EyePet in 3D, but get this -- you need DIFFERENT 3D glasses for the TVs.

At least 1up isn't a tech enthusiast website, but still...

Is there any tvs that only use the shitty cinema type? nearly all first gen tvs from sony sammy etc have went active shutter aint they.

That's not so surprising. The big screen stuff would use passive tech like the cinema.

The TV stuff uses active shutter stuff.

My eyebrow raised more at their classy 'gay' comment.

edit - holy shit, those are some big goggles ^^

Just like a cinema, polarised glasses for looking at projection and far away images and active shutter for looking at normal 3d tv's.

Been a fact for over a year now, no popcorn necessary.

Edit: Screw you gofreak :lol

is that surprising?

The glasses for the presentation are obviously for the screen while the other ones are synced/connected to the respective TV. (it isn't even the same 3D technology)

edit: beaten

and ok, you were just pointing out the incompetence of the 1up guys.

It wasn't an anti-Sony popcorn.gif, more of a confused-livebloggers popcorn.gif.

I've actually dabbled with 3D visualization myself for money, I know this junk
