Sony has reportedly blocked PlayStation Plus and PS Now subscription stacking (Update: stacking will resume when service launches, codes still valid)

Haven't seen a single case of this happening mentioned.

What happened to early ps4 Sony? They switched it up real quick the last couple years. I’m in no rush for a PS5 anymore. Every decision they make lately seems to be against my interests. Fuck em
The VERY unfortunate move to California, huge focus on the West, new direction, new leadership, censorship, confidence from winning previous generations, etc…..

I think there is more evidence against your statement than for.

That means nothing. They won't post numbers for a reason. They need to appear as successful as possible - often that means NOT releasing numbers and using vague statements such as "sustainable" (note that does NOT mean profitable, it just means they can afford to keep trying).

The second PS4 proved giant sales and profits were flowing in (which was pretty darn fast after launch, while PS3 was a drain), Sony realized Nintendo was down in the dumps with Wii U (Switch not known yet) and Xbox One launch was a PR disaster.

And since then, the gaming division is their most profitable division (I think). And growing too. So they cant take their foot off the gas giving back like the PS3 days of free online and new service PS+.

That's why everything Sony does now has a money angle to it with few deals.

It just means they are in the black, or close to profit. Loss leader strategy isn’t uncommon. Obviously, they can’t say it’s profitable, or a tremendous success, as that could mislead investors and get you into trouble with the SEC. sustainable = we’re putting more money in, than what we’re getting out, but we’re optimistic about the future.

SCEA was always located in CA. What are you smoking?
I am aware that SCEA has always been in California, but it seems like the California branch or region basically control or influence all of Sony though now. I could of sworn I heard the headquarters relocated from Japan to California years ago?

EDIT: This is what I was referring to below.

I hope they don’t screw this loyal PS+ stacked over… or else I won’t get a PS5 Pro. /angry face
Nah, if you’ve got it now they’ll honour it, they just closed the loophole.

It’s fair enough let’s be honest, can’t believe people are actually crying into their Doritos about this…

It doesn't mean that at all. It means they won't need to shut it down in the foreseeable future and nothing else.

Until they can prove success they have to do their best to give the appearance of success.

It's the same for all companies. Success breeds more success and failures lead to more failures. It's why Sony lumped Vita sales in with PSP, yet had no second thoughts about announcing PS console numbers. It's why Microsoft announced 360 numbers, but stopped after the One generation got going.

Abusing a loophole?

"I have a lot of pre-paid (stacked) time left on my membership. Will I get to keep that after the new service launches? "

"Yes, you will get to keep all of your pre-paid time within the new service. "

I actually don't understand staking stuff anyway, for $1 it makes sense but PS Plus is just PS Plus Essential next for the same price, and PS Now is being canceled so what the fuck are they stacking?

Ps now is getting converted to the higher tier. So if you stack PSNow @$60 you get the higher tiered sub at a much lower price

But they were pretty clear with their message "current" subs. It was pretty obvious that stacked was already risky to begin with.

I converted 3 years of Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate last month for 1 dollar.

1. Dollar.

Sony is only great when someone is threatening them.

Yeah but they’re not going to be able to have an expiration inside of stacked subs. So whatever was active when they stopped it should be converted come June. If you have 3 years the full 3 would be converted because there’s no new equivalent. Ps plus is easily converted because it’s going to be the lowest tier. There’s also much fewer PSNow subs to convert

If they don’t convert stacked subs they’ll be facing a class action faster than they can say “Linux”.

And now we defend this shit..... Holy shit you can stacking since 2017 with Gamepass.... And now this gets defended. WTF is wrong with some Sony Players🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Unless every single subscriber was stacking 10-20 years it wouldn’t be worth the hassle of not converting. I’m sure some probably did though but it’s a small percentage of a small overall number to begin with anyway.

What does that has to do with people stacking subscription that are being replaced?

Sony was always quick to crackdown on anything they consider to be abusing their systems, this is nothing new. They probably want as many people as possible paying the real price instead of a gamepass like situation where it has been extremely easy to abuse for 5 years now.

Why block folks trying to get in now?
What happens to someone who's PS+ expired today and just bought a card to re-up?
This is bullshit Jim, you throwing the baby out with the bathwater you petty ass hoe.

Yeah you’ll be able to stack again once the tiers go live. This is stacking leftover cards and codes that are heavily discounted

You can redeem codes. You just can’t stack. Your scenario is covered

This does nothing. But stop PS+ cards from flooding the prices down I guess. But from a “consumer” contract, nothing is being taken from promised.

they did, the service is getting discontinued. why didnt you stack up last week?
I just realized you're "Fifa 22 guy" from the other thread. I guess I'm not as into kissing Sony's ass for the privilege of buying things I already own.

You're not talking to an Xbox fan boy.

I own every Playstation. I've bought probably 95% of the 1st party library.... going back to 1995. Wip3out is my favorite series. My 60GB PS3 is standing proudly next to my PS5. But I don't think Sony values my money lately.. so I'm not going to just blindly hand it over. If I'm not sold on this subscription... believe me - someone has fucked up.

All that aside... The idea they can't afford to give a little break to anyone who wants to jump on board today by stacking PSnow... and these guys don't even know what the backward compatibility games are yet... while competing services are being competitive (shocking i know)... pathetic....

It has nothing to do with money. It's unfortunately just how Sony behaves when they think they're in the top spot. Always has been. Always talking the talk.... but actually walking it every other generation.

The move to the west was one of the things that saved PlayStation for the PS4 era but okay.

Anyway...the irony is that if Sony wasn't doing this, not nearly as many people would be talking about this, lmao. Now this will probably grow into a much bigger thing than it should and they will probably backtrack anyway.

They can't possibly spend 2 months without accepting cards...i mean...right?

How does Sony not understand to give out crazy deals in the beginning to drum up the sub base.....everyone else has been doing this: Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, MS gamepass etc etc...
Because this isn’t a new service starting from zero. The base is already present with PS Plus subscribers and now PS Now users being rolled into that too. I doubt the people stacking were new members.
