I was going to get the SN850, but even with the heat sink those babies run really hot. Decided to get a 2TB Aorus 7000s, much better heatsink and runs quite a bit cooler.

Mine no heatsink in PC never goes over 40c. Typically it's around 35c. Obviously not totally comparable but I heard it ran hot but I can't seem to make mine.

I think I'm going with the Gigabyte Aorus 7000 model. Around 400$ is in line with my maximum budget for a 2TB model and reviews seem to be great all around.

I think that will be up to the manufactures, and Sony did list the specifications to follow.

An official list/stamp of approval will most likely come from Sony, not the manufactures. Just like third party peripherals, this should be no different.

yeah I was looking at Aorus initially because of the price but then WD dropped the prices on their store again + I got a 15% discount code from having left it in my cart for a couple of days so I ended up getting a SN850 for ~$20 less than the Aorus

I’d do the research if I didn’t buy ahead of time when prices were low in April on the SN850. Went that was because initially WD had claimed they were the first NVME that would work with the PS5. Fluke Cerny went that way.

I got the Cerny edition SSD and notice no loud fans or over heating so far. Played about an hour of God of War. So far so good.

The WD 2TB with heat sink had a promotion for $120 off so I ordered one the other day, not sure if they are still going at that price but it cost me about $479.00 total and it arrived today.
