he was 15/17 when that happened and he apologized publicly and served a prison sentence of 45 days...what's your deal....

If you say people don't change then you're an idiot, they def do especially from that age.
Oh well then. He was 15 (or was he 17?) And he did a whole 45 days in jail for attempted murder. He's definitely learned his lesson and no way is he racist anymore.

He also committed another hate crime when he was 21. But yeah, he's definitely changed. Just because he has a history of racist behavior doesn't mean he is a racist. People change, folks!

Very impressive. I think Batman and sonic will perform extremely well too since many states are dropping the face mask rule and more people are going out.
Agreed. Which makes me sad. I liked my day one streaming releases. Now I'll have to wait months to watch these new movies, even longer if they do really well (still waiting for spiderman to release)

Although the new scream movie just released digitally after only a few weeks at the theaters so that wasn't too bad.

I'm not saying what he did was justified, it was absolutely wrong.

Did not hear about anything he did at 21, the only ones i saw were the rock throwing and the assault.

But it was the 80's, he hung around a bad bunch of which he left after the events occurred, he says they were a gang but im not sure if thats a real gang or a bad bunch of kids.

The Vietnamese man who he did the assault towards even said he should be forgiven.

If you don't think people can change from a different time and being young and stupid i feel bad for our future, life is about growth - not everything is eternally condemnable

Can’t not wait for Tom Holland to play Aloy in the big screen adaptation!!

why not wait until we see actual final box office numbers, sony.

It will need to make about $450-500 MM worldwide to break even.
200 million to break even at worst. Sony being Sony, they probably didn’t even spend that much advertising. The movie will probably do 400$ at the box office. Neogaf Uncharted fans don’t understand this is aimed at the Jumanji audience. Besides movie profit, they want to attract a younger audience to their games.

I expect this Nathan Drake to show up in the next Jumanji. And If I was Sony I would have NaughtyDog make a “Miles Morales” size game of younger drake aimed at a younger crowd, platforming heavy.

$200m to break even? Hell no. That's not how it works.

A general rule is a studio takes 60% of box office domestically and 20-40% internationally, with China (one of the biggest markets) being at the very low end.

If the budget (not including marketing) is $120m $200 won't get them close to breaking even. And marketing costs do seem to be pretty big here.

Marketing

It's off to a good start but just had to put this in perspective

At 17 did you almost kill a man because of the color of his skin? No? Gtfo

Murdered someone at 14. Entered the prison system at 15 years old and spent 18 years in prison having gone through gang ranks.
Now goes around his town and the country educating the youth on the dangers of gang life and doing other humanitarian work.

Imprisoned at age 11 for murder. Been out for 5 years and is working to stay out of prison even going so far as try and get all his tattoos removed.

These guys come from broken homes in poor communities and have had the strength to turn their lives around. These are extreme examples.

Mark did nothing like this and he should be crucified even though he's spent years apologizing for his actions.

If you don't understand people can change (even in the most extreme conditions) then maybe its you who needs to GTFO.

they literally gave away free tickets to anyone who bought a video game. that counts towards this weekend's numbers.

it's the Hollywood equivalent of giving away a record with a concert ticket purchase, and then crowing about how high your record sales are.

Sony doesn't give a fuck about critics...they have been doing feel-good movies for a while now and they apparently know what audiences want.

Stuff like the latest Jumanji (and its sequel), Venom (and its sequel), the latest Ghostbusters movie and now Uncharted are all hits even if they don't hit fresh (or barely in case of Ghostbusters) on rotten tomatoes.
What people forget is that Sony Pictures 2000 -10 era was filled with Oscar nominated movies that nobody cared to watch or even knew about. Sony pictures Classic lost importance. Can we blame them? ... People choose action over substance.

What hasn't changed is Marky Marks horrendous acting skills. He can play dumb, angry, or dumb and angry. That is it.

I went with a group of 5 thinking it would be shite. Ended up loving it as they all did. We can't wait for a sequel and I'll watch it again when it's streamable.

Sony should try get the sequel out the same quarter as uncharted 5. Or is that too long to wait for a movie sequel?

Maybe new uncharted movie in 2 years and then a 3rd movie in 4 years alongside uncharted 5?

Too many Oscar winning films are boring as fuck that only old people like. Give us under 50's that still have that child in us what we need. Guns, tits and explosions. In that order. Thank you!

I'll wait to watch it at home, I saw the trailers and nothing there really hyped me enough to go see it on the big screen.

I watched it, siblings forced me to take them. Was surprisingly decent, the ending was really entertaining.

It's basically Mark Wahlberg plays Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland plays Tom Holland and they try to mimic Uncharted scenarios. Really dumb but a good time.

I used to like this guy's videos initially. He makes some decent points.

But his voice and shtick of drunk soon became absolutely grating. And he is not very amusing either to pull it off always. Now I simply hate even the sound of his videos.
Yeah same, used to watch his videos every now and then but goddamn this tryhard drunk voice makes me want to punch his face.

absolutely agree, Sony are basically the masters of delivering on mass market popcorn flicks. Easy to follow, general entertainment.

its Basically the world now, thanks to the marvel explosion and tik Tok generation.

we Are basically doomed, but we Will all be too stupid and high on fake bliss to even care. Hahaha

"With over $100M in box office worldwide in just one weekend, and a 90% positive audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, Uncharted is a new hit movie franchise for the company."

Wow, Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem you sure bought so many tickets.

movie have to make 2-2.5 multiplier to break even due to marketing costs and the fact that the studios do not receive all of the theater revenues (typically 40-50% the first few weeks, then less each successive week. And if the movie plays in China, they never get more than 25% of the to total take there.

maybe educate yourself on what you are trying to discuss before broadcasting that you are an idiot.
I do know all about that. But it's also more complex than that. We don't know how much marketing costs were for this movie. We don't know how many marketing deals they had in place for the movie. If things were that linear and a $120M needed over $500M to break even (so over 4x its budget) then Shang Chi flopped hard with its 150M budget, Eternals was a nuclear bomb, Thor 1, 2, the first Captain America, Ant-Man (possibly both), etc all flopped, possibly more MCU movies.

If what you say is true and this movie needs over 4x its budget to break even that's kind of crazy to me.

not everything needs to be oscar bait, i could argue that the marvel films are worse....its all CGI, no substance as well.

Sometimes it's fun to turn off your brain and enjoy a decent flick.
Im only commenting to agree that Marvel movies are total shit, I’m sick of everything Marvel universe, we’re at marvel over saturation and there’s nothing I respect less than grown men who fawn over marvel shit… and I’m commenting on a video game forum ffs.

The worst and last marvel film I saw was an avengers movie where iron man’s British Siri guy turned into a stupid blue and red super human thing to fight an evil but charismatic robot. It was the worst movie I ever saw, and the fact the movie was full of adults, me being one, made me momentarily question my life choices.

Good for them, although it's not something I would spend money on as I don't care for mainstream popcorn movies.

That is good news for us, gamers. This success will lead to them pouring more resources into future movies, TV shows and animes based on their properties, which, in turn, will reinforce the Playstation brand as the cornerstone of their entertainment strategy. This should result in their first party studios receiving an even more privilieged treatment.

Surprised to see it doing so well in theatres, I thought it was gonna bomb hard because of the casting tbh. Might actually go see it at some point, haven’t seen a real action movie in theatres for a very long time.

Edit: It’s too bad the ”get the upgrade, get a movie ticket” doesn’t seem to apply here (at least in sweden).
