Sony stops PSP keyboard development

Didn't they have some mockup (I assume it wasn't actually working at the time otherwise I'd assume we'd have seen it out by now) of a keyboard at E3 last year? That clear keyboard that was attatched at the bottom. I wonder when/if that's going to come out

hey i found a picture :p

Sony didnt actually cancel it, they just didnt give away the PSP secrets to a third party. Theres either some security issue, or they just wanna make their own.

I'm hoping that this is the case and that Sony is planning on making their own. The onscreen keyboard is asstastic.

Was Logic 3 ever officially licensed? If not, then that might explain why they couldn't get their hands on the protocols that they would have needed.

It's been a vaporware product since before the US PSP launch at least. I wouldn't doubt that they probably failed to obtain a license from Sony to make this, but it would be real interesting to find out when they actually tried to obtain one, in relation to when they actually started advertising that this was coming.

of all the retarded things I've heard on GAF, that takes the cake. WTF would they make a joypad for a portable system?

hehehe... you mean you don't treat your PSP like a computer and plug a keyboard, mouse, hard disk, TV, and gamepad into it?

Use the playgear case as a stand, plop that on your airplane tray, and play some sweet Darkstalkers and SFA3 with a groovy Saturn style six-button pad. Yeah, that sounds terrible. Makes way less sense than some of the other accessories like giant-assed speakers systems.

ps Screw you.

That does make sense, although the game would have to be programmed to recognize external controllers that are connected to the USB port.

actually that does make sense. I had forgotten about that particular case since I'm not currently a PSP owner. I was picturing someone like the guy in the latest EGM who made a neck-supported PVC tubing PSP sling and wondering who would do that in public let alone tell someone, "hey, take my picture!" and send it in to a national magazine.
