Sony's Dig at Microsoft Thoughts ?

It's clever to make fun about a company who takes user feedback (yes, low preorders are feedback) into consideration to update their policies. Ok then.

It's perfectly OK in my book making fun of a company that tried to royally screw consumers and backpedaled when they realized that consumers aren't as stupid as they thought. That's just me though.

They were using free online as a selling point for the PS3, and snuck in a 180 during their E3 conference.

Oh, and I think they raised the price of PSPlus, to boot.

It was a legit stab and fair game. I like a little jab here and there from both sides. So long as they don't bend the truth or outright lie then I think it should be done as often as both sides like. No sense in having them act like lovers, right?

It wasn't unfair, considering what Microsoft has been doing for the past few months. Was it necessary? As in, did they need to say it out loud? Probably not, but I think that's kinda missing the point. They took a jab at Microsoft. It was funny, it made me laugh. That's all there is to it, I guess.

and did not get the response they wanted, of coarse the did not have 25,000 fan boys swooning in the arena,be careful you should not criticize someone listening to user base, could backfire,Sony seems to be rounding into old form,Speaking of tragic , that user interface looks dated and I would rather keep the cross media bar, and to think you took 5 years and you came with piece of crap.I almost went and cancelled my fully paid preorder at game stop.

Sony's jokes were the functional equivilent of the "Have you seen Titanfall?" meme...funny the first time, but not so witty two months later.

The key to humor is timing and they missed that boat altogether.

Uncalled for and infantile. Unlike the the No DRM annoucement, it smacked of Sony arrogance. There are things they are fucking up on too. Glass houses and all that.

It's not clever. It's common sense. Just like it ISN'T common sense for MS to do that in the first place. They were dumb, Sony has called them on it and they deserve to be called out. SO IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. Stop being an apologist.

I don't think Sony should brag much considering their patent to have authentication chips. But who cares either way.

They should let the products speak for themselves and frankly I am not sold on either but in terms of games I want ps4 is underwhelming to me. So I am not surprised that their messaging includes jabs. Personally I see that as a sign of weakness, not strength.

If you are actually the best, let your actions speak for you.

You know what kind of a comment I would prefer.

"Here at Playstation we have always prioritized consumer choice. Devices like the Playstation Eye, available for $60, allow gamers to decide if they need a camera in their living room, unlike our competition. But hey, there's still, what, 3 months left? We'll see how that situation develops *pause for laughter*".*

Or, at least, I'd target Microsoft on something unpopular that they are still doing, rather than things they decided not to do. The "their story has changed"-thing was way too direct, and I could only imaging laughing at that if I was a strict Sony fanboy.

*With a Jack Tretton delivery.

And, at the end of the day, it really isn't of any consequence. But it wasn't nearly the type of burn they achieved at E3, and it was clearly trying to replicate that.

Did Microsoft need to call the PS4 a PS3.5 just a couple of days ago?

If you're going to take shots in the public like that, be prepared to get some back.

The irony is MSFT's PR and misleading which then lead to changes. They deserved the pandering they got while Sony basically sat there quietly and even this dig, while it may hurt the loyalist Xbone fan, was hardly vulgar.

They've been talking consumer trust since E3 and have never wavered.

I hope all the people getting upset about how "childish" this was were just as upset when Microsoft reps claimed they were going to "kill" Sony at E3.

That's not just a dig. It's a flat out grenade. And was dead wrong. At least House was telling the truth.

Hmmm

Well I didnt think that House got the reaction he wanted. Im sure I could hear a few people booing.

They were going "oooooooh," like "daaaaaamn." Because they were shocked he went there. Then the cheering started.

At least that's how it sounds to me.

Oh..like Microsoft NEVER made a dig at Sony in their press conferences before. :/ It's competition people, nothing more.

Only reason Sony is so full of themselves is because of the mistakes of others. They have yet to prove that they've accomplished anything significant with PS4.

They have proven themselves competent. That's all thats needed when your two competitors have done nothing but show how INCOMPETENT they are.

Mmmhmm, I wonder what kind of post overlap we have in that thread versus this one. Its all rather childish perhaps, but they all do it. So all is fair I suppose.

what did everything think of their dig at microsoft saying we arent like the others back tracking on what we say n things.

i was surprised it was said but also think it was needed

I thought it was deserved at a minimum. I think they should have also used the term 180 in that dig somehow.

Why should this type of thing stop? what serious damage is being done here, and why should we care enough to want it to stop?
I don't even consider taking shots at competitors to be immature, I consider it smart
It's simply a marketing tactic, and not even an aggressive one to boot. It's funny that there's a Galaxy S4 ad at the banner on the top of the page. The same people who find this childish must think Samsung is run by school children with their commercials.

Love reading all the ridiculousness in this thread. They are competitors with a valid point. Get over it.

Like I mean, could you imagine if this kind of talk was used by presidential candidates?!?! HOW CLASSLESS!

When they ripped MS a new one at E3 I laughed, MS deserved it. But this time around I thought ok now they're being total dicks. But I also thought why would Sony give them breathing space, fair enough. Its business.

Buts its all entertainment for us at the end of the day. Competition after all :)

They compete but work together in other fields. That's why some of the people taking this all serious make me laugh. I mean Crackle is only on 360 right now unless they made it to PS3. I haven't noticed.

It was such a light jab, a playful punch really, and ever so brief. You'd have to be a delicate flower indeed to take any offence.

MS deserved it. Now we can move on.

I think everyone should have moved on weeks ago. Yes, a lot of us aren't happy with MS. Yes, a lot of us are switching consoles this generation. Yes, a lot of us laughed hysterically when Sony made that sharing games video. But how much time can people possibly spend trying to tell the world how much they hate MS? At a certain point, it just seems childish.
