Sony's Dig at Microsoft Thoughts ?

Why should this type of thing stop? what serious damage is being done here, and why should we care enough to want it to stop?
I don't even consider taking shots at competitors to be immature, I consider it smart

Should focus on the hardware and games and driving themselves to improve. Do I want it to stop? I don't really care. But so far I don't think either have shown anything brag worthy anyway.

what did everything think of their dig at microsoft saying we arent like the others back tracking on what we say n things.

i was surprised it was said but also think it was needed

i'll hand it to Sony, at E3 they landed a stellar pr blow to Microsoft.

today's dig was tasteless though and unwarranted. i thought it made them look bad for trying it again.

Especially with the FIFA and COD Coupe. Sony can't underestimate MSFT, and small jokes now that E3 is several months in the past won't help much in the real world, unlike the software coupe.

Now when is Intel going to start adding games when the release new processors:P

to the people that thought it was tasteless, mean spirited, or whatever: take break from the internet and get your lives. Ask yourselves why Sony pointing out the they have always had a vision/plan, and never had to do a 180 to 'right the ship' at any point was tasteless. Why do YOU feel that way, personally?

Sounds like a bunch of salt to me..... They're trying to make money, not make love to their fanbase. E3 dig was justified, leave it at that and let your production vision take it home.

I didn't think it needed to be said, but they were doing a press conference and they knew their audience well. Good on them.

Which is what they did, Their "schoolyard fight" took up about .3 percent of the whole conference. Did they really miss a great opportunity to explain their games further in those 20 seconds that were taken up?

You sorta missed the part of my post where I said that neither were really impressive anyway. Bragging is for winners :D

I LOL'd because IMO the show was a bomb and the dig seemed like a desperation statement to get some cheers at the end.

competition slinging mud isn't new and completely normal so it's not a bad thing

I love how some people are upset by this, they are trying to sell consoles people its a battle if you don't think Microsoft would do the same thing if they were in the position you are crazy.

They were talking about their vision and how it has stayed the same, and I think it was worth saying considering the amount of topics trying to spread FUD about the PS4 since it was announced.

The number of countries mentioned for launch was probably more heart-stabbing for MS anyway.

I liked it and Sony needs to do more of it. Call Microsoft out.

I want a Nintendo vs. Sega like war this generation. It makes it more fun.

Don't look for sin in the act of what they did, rather, the reasoning they took said actions.
They made the jokes as an attempt to keep their fans happy. So I had no problem with it.

I didn't think it was a big deal at all. People are just overreacting. If no one applauded in the middle of his sentence, the comment would have been forgettable just like a lot of the fluff in the speech/presentation.

Such a bomb for Sony to announce a bunch of new games and a firm PS4 release date for 32 countries. How will they ever recover from such a terrible showing.

lol, look at all the pussy ass new gen gamers, you guys clearly weren't around when Sega was in the hardware game. Not to mention old school Sony with the plumber boy mustache man Crash Bandicoot commercial.

I very much agree with the underlined. I had high expectations of gamescom this year and sony failed to impress. And it wasn't even a clever jab tbh.

Still don't like your pay for online bullshit sony. I'm also still not interested in the Vita nor the PS4 so this didn't do anything for me.

They should have gone all out

Do you want to pay $100 less for a system
Do you want to pay $10 less for online per year
Do you want camera to be optional
Do you want a more powerful system
Do you want free games throughout with Instant Game Collection
Do you hate weird messaging, 180s and flip flopping
Do you hate paywall for using apps

Buy a PS4

I want the good old Sega vs Nintendo say rivalry back

My thoughts are wow me with some next gen game awesomeness that makes me want to buy your system. Neither Sony or Microsoft has that right now. Seems like it's all squeals and the same iterations with a couple multiplat games being the most interesting.

They have done the same thing. They've actually done worse, far worse.

Jaws would have been on the floor, haha.

Not gonna lie, don't totally get what's going down here.
Lots and lots of

One company tries the most despicable thing ever in gaming, reverses their despicable actions, and their competition just slightly mentions that they reversed their policy and that is the controversy?

There was nothing tasteless or unwarranted about it. Their main competition has completely reversed their stance to try and try and ape and copy Sony message and stance.

Of-fucking-course Sony was going to call them out on it! They'd be stupid not to. It's not like that stupid X-boat nonsense. Sony called them out on things that should actually matter to consumers.

Sony said they aren't like the others who backtrack? They sure did with BC, even worse, they had mocked Microsoft for not having full BC, then just took it out. Nothing Sony says holds any water.

They said the PS3 is hard to program for so that developers would have what to do for 10 years. Well, guess they threw that philosophy out the window too (I'm happy for that one though).

Sony's message has been so positive and consistent, this is all people have. Sony should take it as a badge of honor that this is all that people can bitch about.

Microsoft deserves to be called out and ridiculed because it seems that gamers have short memories of being taken for granted.

Obviously. Don't you remember PS3 being the big bad king all last gen and the 360 just trying to do the gaming lord's work and bring happiness to the people.

I didn't miss it, it just isn't a very important detail

It was an important detail. My main point was that Sony wasn't acting like a real competitor by taking such an obvious, dare I say amateur, jab at the competition instead of letting their product and track record to speak for itself. Bragging about track records when in reality you don't have a clean record yourself shouldn't be praised and shouldn't be done. MSFT isn't the only company to change stances and things about their product due to public response. Backwards compatibility on the ps3 went out the window for a cheaper price. The OS changes on the ps3. Even the ps3 hacking incident is relevant to some extent. They are in essence trying to pull wool over everyone's eyes about the past to make it seem as if it never happened. Sony hasn't always been perfect in placing consumer interests in line with their business plan. If they had, they would've had extra security before they regretted it. No one has forgotten that e3 where they came out and apologized for their grave mistakes.

They deserved it plus it's not like MS never attack/make fun of other companies before.

Check out their Windows 8 tablet vs iPad ads.
