I'm far from a Madden expert so I'll just let the footage speak for itself.

adg: Sorry about the problems--it's some kind of firewall/server incompatibility issue tech has been looking into. I'll PM you for more info.

Hmm looks like a carbon copy of the 360 version.

Unless its 60FPS I'll pass. Still seems to have that invisible wall problem around players like the 360 version. Crappy DB AI intact too. Don't see any gang tackling either. Another next gen madden ftl perhaps.

The ring girl in the fight night video looks almost real... The face needs a bit of work, but the body is spot on.

Didn't they say that they even had a seperate team working on the PS3 version too?

this better not be rubbish...I need to see some of the big games to be trully hyped...naughty dog please...HS new demo as well, Im really interested in the game, but a very poor job has been done showing its supposed potential...hehe Ive got a feeling nothing new will be revealed....sony have been very poor about some of the media and info they release

peace

I'd go in with low expectations. This is their pre launch event and there's going to be an emphasis on those games, their early downloadable games and getting out the rest of their online info. That doesn't mean they won't be showing games coming out down the road though.

Heavenly Sword's new build should be there, but I really wouldn't get my hopes up for something like ND's game.

Though others will claim otherwise I have the feeling that this really is Sony's last big push in terms of big reveals and surprises before the PS3 launch and the Xmas rush, no matter how small the hardware numbers.

They have to make good on both game and hardware today. I'm expecting some news regarding a possible surprise in either their online service or a previously unknown hardware application. I'm also expecting a possible surprise game announcement.

Frankly, if the great undecided masses come away from this feeling like this 'Gamer's Day' was nothing more than a TGS rehash with some newer demos of Heavenly Sword and Motorstorm, then maybe Sony will have lost the last best chance to win their hearts and minds.

A little melodramatic, but that's what I think.

That is all.

PS - Said it before and no one cared so no one will care now... but I still have a hunch that we're going to see Jak and Daxter PS3 today...... just sayin'.

IMO this will predominantly be about the launch and clarification and making official all the little details re. accessories and pricing etc. etc. I wouldn't expect them to show off too many new titles (beyond the downloadable stuff).

You're probably right GoFreak. But the thing that just doesn't add up for me is the fact that Sony have alot of information to hand out and this seems like a strange stage for them to do it on.

I would have thought that Sony would have pushed for an X06 style event to really showcase everything that they have. Seems a little funny for Sony to appear to be scrambling like this.

Why do you think they are they 'scrambling'?

This is basically a X06-like event in that it's bringing together journalists over a couple of days for meetings/presentations etc. It seems suitable enough to me for getting that kind of info out.

I personally hope for some Eight Days presence. If it looks just as good as the E3 video, that'd be cool. That, and launch details.

But prepare to be DISAPPOINTED: CALL OF DUTY 3 LOOKS BETTER ON THE 360!
Huzzah!

In the latest PSM podcast a Sony rep mention that you can use a cellphone Bluetooth headset with your PS3.

Someone that went to that GameStop/EB conference said that a Sony rep told him that the PS3 is compatible with any bluetooth product.

I mostly want info on what downloadable games will be ready for launch (both original and existing content) as well as the demos we can expect. *crosses fingers for Heavenly Sword*

I'm expecting a short demo drought like with X360 in the early days. Though those Arcade games will most definitely be there day one.

TTP

Have a fun! Enjoy!
I wonder if Assassin's Creed will be there. Both versions are at about the same stage at the moment so, considering the 360 one was demoed at X06...

I suppose. It just doesn't feel like Sony as any clear time line. I realise that this may not be the case and that they just choose to keep all this to themselves. But my point is, we thought we'd get everything at TGS. But we didn't. Then we started hearing about Sony's 'October Event'. And that this would be the place where everything would fall into place. Now here we are on the eve of this 'Gamer's Day' and we stil aren't sure what we are or aren't going to see.

I suppose it's academic whether they are scrambling or not, but it certainly looks that way to many. But in saying that. There's no reason at all why Sony can't totally knock it out of the park once and for all.

Despite trying my best to 'manage my expectations', I have high hopes for this Gamer's Day. I just hope it delivers.

That is all.

PS- I'm a big fan of your posts BTW GoFreak. Just had to say.

I hope to see a new Jak & Daxter for this next-gen but... :/

Sony did register a new J&D trademark right before E3. But its for a network game, so it's going to be a departure for the series if it does come out. Online co op J&D possibly? 1 person as Jak and the other as Daxter.

IIRC it was Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, or something like that.

Like I said. I've got a hunch that this launch window game that some people have been alluding to as being a graphical showpiece for the PS3 could be a Jak and Daxter game.

Don't see any reason why Naughty Dog couldn't have had a team working on this quietly, while the other team worked on 'that jungle game'.

We rarely know what we're gonna get before an event, and there's been plenty of precedence to urge caution in one's expectations about what'll come out of an event. Companies rarely make promises in advance of an event as to what they will or won't talk about.

You talk about it as if there's some need for Sony to, as you put it, 'knock one out of the park' or "make good" on expectations for games etc. But I don't know how urgent that is at all - I think they made good on the games side already at previous shows, and there's been various bits of news in recent days that have certainly made good on expectations re. other parts of the system. I think for this event - it being a pre-launch event - it's a matter of 1) presenting the online service and 2) tying up the rest of the loose ends re. the small things for launch and making various things 'official'. They're not going to present their plan or manifesto for the next 12 or 18 months here, I think it'll be very focussed on launch related stuff (asides from the broader outline of online strategy). That's just my opinion.

Watch out Busty, seems like you're almost guaranteeing yourself this game to show up. ;)

(will end up as a PSP game I think)

The reason I question it is typically ND works on 1 game at a time unless its a smaller project like CT or Jak X. They went Jak > Jak 2 > Jak 3/Jak X. Right now they've got that jungle game in development so i'm not sure if they'd have another big project like Jak also going on at the sametime with both being far in development.

I don't know how I forgot about Motorstorm. F1 also. Those 3 and i'll be happy.

If I can get Resistance, F1, and Motorstorm at launch, I will be a very, very happy man. If Heavenly Sword is there, I might just be in pure bliss. But honestly, all I am expecting on the 17th is Resistance.

Man I'd love to see an update on Naughty Dogs game. Also a new trailer of The Getaway would be nice.

Other than that, more footage of MotorStorm (new build, stable fps and faster gameplay) and I'd be happy. :)

Oh yeah, PLEASE show the GDC video of Ratchet and Clank, I'd love to see that in HD.
