Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Yup. They are going multi platform just like Xbox..
Doesn't matter if it's day one or a year later. They are going everywhere.

Did you guys seriously think hardware would be a priority forever? Cloud will eventually take over, services will eventually take over, physical will disappear.

Hardware will always be there but it will not be the majority, it'll be old guys clinging to the past

No shit. Someday you punks will learn to listen to me.

Sony has said as much since, like, 2023. The way you can twist that statement is a completely different thing.

Not that long ago people on here were laughing at "the cloud" and the thought of certain companies expanding to other platforms... and now here we are, as expected.

Will be interesting to see if this is a one generation experiment thing for PS6/SX2 and then they return to form after or if its this will indeed be our forever gaming future.

you seriously think people are all going to be playing games in cloud?

for the second half of the PS5 life cycle. Nothing to see here

also they see Xbox as a diminishing platform without relevance. Benevolent Sony is porting their games to that platform just to make those gamers the taste of greatness.

"Playstation Hardware is an Increasingly Unstable Investment"
- IGN, probably

"Playstation prestige at all time low"
- BryanK, probably

If this is true, then the PS5 Pro is the last Playstation I'll own.

I mean is this a bad thing? Sony would probably make more money out of you buying their games instead of the system with just the exclusives. The loss leader model works if you buy the system + lots of third party games + lots of MTX.

They want to kill PlayStation? (PlayStation is a console, just like Xbox is a console).

Original Tweet is gone? adamsapple adamsapple
Edit: Went to their page and it's there, weird.

How does this effect your enjoyment of a console?

Back in the day it made sense to stick to one hardware because the specs were unique but now a PS5 game is basically a Xbox Series & PC game it will only take a small effort to port them over to the other platforms.
