Aaand now I want to play MGS 4 again :D

Man, I love that game.
Haters gonna hate and all that.

The endfight was so epic.

"This is it brother, our final moment."

*goosebumps*

I want such an epic fight in MGSV. Father vs Son!

what's funny about this maturity argument is that kojima himself said he's trying to tackle more mature content and themes. not sure why there's a debate about that

I always thought that was more marketing than anything. The prequels dealt with some pretty heavy issues already.

Mature themes does not mean there should be a lot of messed up themes in the game. It means it should be dealt with tactfully so the player understands the significance and seriousness of issues like rape, child soldiers and torture. GZ did not do this, the rape and torture just felt disconnected, it did not create a setting in which I cared and felt the emotions that I was supposed to. It was all just a serious of sudden events.

i think metal gear solid ground zeros is very replayable and has some very strong game mechanics in it. i am very excited for phantom pain, but i'm hoping they commit to nerfing the balloon thing as it looks game breaking. also, i htink there should be like a sprint gauge and also, even though i dont use it, you should have to earn reflex.

i really like the marking system, its cool. helps promote scoping out areas and stuff and i dont really view it as having that much of a bad influence on the gameplay. the game is better without reflex, but i do miss guards using radios.

also, i like keither sutherland, but i wish he would talk a little more.

Did I get rused? I guess the article is poorly worded?

"However, while Kojima and Konami have been gracious enough to schedule an hour-long preview of the latest sequel to the Metal Gear franchise, devs are still mum on the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date."

Pretty straight forward.

I agree with everything here apart from the sprinting. I don't think it damages the game in any way to have it unlimited, unlike the Fulton and Reflex.

The Fulton as it is stands looks like it will make a no-kill run a doddle, so it definitely needs limiting. I'm not sure how best to go about it though: cost, limited number, decrease the success rate.

That's a nice idea about Reflex. It should be similar to how Fisher gets Mark and Execute in Conviction; a successful melee/CQC grants you one shot at Reflex.

What I'd like to see make a return, along with the old radio system, is:

  • The Sweep and Clear squad tactics for enemy AI from MGS2.
  • The four man team patrols that were hinted at in the early MGS3 trailers.
  • The ability to destroy enemy supplies like we could in MGS3.
  • Multi-faction battles like in MGS4 (imagine recruiting a band of Mujahideen to attack a Russian Outpost and watching the results from a nearby mountain... Before ordering an airstrike!).

That sort of stuff always impressed me in MGS.

We already know that Fulton costs GMP every time you use it. You aren't going to be wanting to waste money on potentially trash soldiers.

If it's anything like PW then in won't matter in the mid-to-late game because you'll be minted, so at the current price (300 GMP, was it?), that isn't much of a solution. Perhaps limit the number you can take on the field AND charge you? That'll make the decision even tougher.

and if it's anything like peace walker, you won't be able to fulton vehicles and huge crates right at the start of the game. i'd imagine that's going to cost a lot of GMP and require R&D

eitherway the best way to nerf it would be to have enemies react to it when within a certain distance, so you'd have to hide bodies, clear a general area, THEN go back and fulton those guys after clearing the area
