Spider-Man 2 has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours

You're doing it wrong, this is how you do it

Goes to show how the vast majority of sales are from casuals. Word of mouth must be huge. Maybe they simply didn't know it came out and it will continue to sell really well as more and more people find out it's out. 2.5 seems low for such a huge userbase. I know it isn't before I get quoted, it just seems low when there are so many PS5s out there and no big exclusive in a while.
wtf are you even saying

No PS game sold this much in 24 hours. What are you even saying right now...

Fastest selling Sony game... maybe you have unrealistic expectations. So, yeah, you're still getting quoted.

Why the fuck does every irrelevent "promotional" twitter post require its own thread?

Like who gives a shit if a billion dollar company is doing well or if a billion dollar IP is selling well? Why should the average gamer give a fuck? Im not a goddamm shareholder?
Generally the thinking is that if a game someone likes is a sales success, it means more of this game will be made in the future. The bigger the sales, the higher the chance of making it and at a bigger budget. For example, if Bloodborne sold 10 million fully priced copies in its first year, we would already have Bloodborne 2 and well on the way for a third installment. But we didn't as Sony and FromSoft didn't see big enough of an incentive to make one.
For Spiderman 2, it means SM3 is already greenlit and probably a Miles Morales-type standalone game in-between (could be Venom).

The better the sales, the more likely Sony invests money in their own studios. For the studios, this can mean bigger budgets and more creative freedom going forward. All gamers should desperately want to root for great sales because the industry as a whole is near the point where the development costs just aren't worth it

You just proved that you do care. When you don't care about something, you ignore it. You don't go into a thread and post a comment about it.
True but Im not posting about the 2.5 mil sales though Im posting about a thread trend i find depressing because of what it suggests about the relationship between companies and there consumers post social media.

Not every game is for everyone. So not sure if the comparison is just.

Like, not everyone who has a PS5 bought a game like Elden Ring. There are just some games are for certain people.

And maybe SM2 isn't for everyone who has a PS5. It's not mandated to have it if you have a PS5.

It's a discussion board and we have news about the performance of a new release. We're not allowed to mention or talk about it? If your not interested in the topic, then just don't enter the thread. Go to a thread that does interest you.

Seems a bit mid? Didn’t Hogwarts Legacy sell like 20M in two weeks?
Hogwarts shipped (sold-in) 12m in two weeks. This sold-through 2.5m in 24 hours. For comparison this is greater than what God of War Ragnarok did, and that sold over 11m in less than 3 months.

You're comparing an exclusive launched on one platform to a game sold on PS5, XSX and PC.

Calm down. Totk did 10m in 3 days which Spiderman 2 won't reach for a while. Totk is also on one console and it isn't even a mainstream Movie IP 😭😅
Calm down console warlord.

WTF does TOTK have to do with Spider-man 2 and it being the fastest selling Playstation game? Also why the fuck are you comparing TOTK to Spider-man 2? How many Switches are out there in the wild compared to PS5?

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
My posts are full of critques of SM2 visuals because ...."checks notes" ...Im a graphics whore. Its been the number one "next gen exclusive" in the spotlight on this forum for months now so of course its the object of most of my conversations in the graphics thread.

I didn't look at your post history or anything
I was replying Mibu no ookami Mibu no ookami and quoted you for reference
It was literally just a joke post, I do that a lot 😉

When talking about sales figures, people always appear to say that 10 million units in a user base of 100 million is a low number but... there is some first party or third party game that has sold 1 copy x every 4 consoles sold in the history of Sony Playstation? I think only Nintendo can aspire to this

All i’m going to say is that there’s a 0% chance there will be a 5 year gap between the third mainline game and the second just like the first and second. These numbers are absurd.
