So I read the review on IGN....ouch. They really didn't like the game, but most of you guys say it's not bad so I think I'll give it a fair try soon.

I do wish Beenox made a game with just Spiderman Noir. That was my favorite Spidey from Shattered Dimensions because of the stealthy gameplay and the interesting take on the Spiderman universe. A much darker one at that.

Noir being a "darker take". I do so enjoy unintended humour.

Got the DS game and it's really just more of the same, in a good way, as the last few Spider-Man games. Metroidvania maps, finding items and power ups, backtracking, etc.

Only a couple of changes that I've noticed early on. The animation style for the cut scenes are trying to be like those motion comics and it's just not all that good looking to me. Though I guess it's nice to spice up the basic talking heads from time to time with oh so much cheesy sci-fi exposition.
At least early on, they go right out and show you where some basic items like more health and save points are right as you start a section. Still plenty of hidden upgrades, but one or two they want to make sure everyone can get.

Would have picked up the 3DS game had it actually been a different game from the home consoles. I'll just get it for Wii or PS3 whenever I can play those systems again.

Edit: Okay, the switching between time frames on DS is getting somewhat annoying. If it was instantaneous it wouldn't be so bad, but a small load time and often for a simple action that barely takes up a second at all.

I feel like Beenox did a good job last year with Spider-Man and I thought narrowing it down to just two would be better..I was wrong. They both feel the same to me and I guess Noir being there to mix up the gameplay some is what I miss the most. The free falling stuff just isn't enough to break up the combat.

A brand new Spider-Man game in 9 months has me wondering if they were split into two teams or if they will just have one Spider-Man game in 2012.

Beenox has two teams. From looking at their website they apparently have over 300 employees.

Sounds like they also rushed the hell out of Edge of Time to fullfill Activision's franchise-murdering efforts to get a game out every year on its titles while a second team has worked for a long time (and still has a year to go) on a different engine to make the Amazing Spider-Man movie game. Sad that they milked it so, the switch from Treyarch to Beenox seemed a good idea when the first game proved to be quality (I liked Treyarch's efforts but they were all over the map and often stressed at the seams) but this second game doesn't do its rep any good. The awkward tying together with X-Men Destiny isn't helping at all either.

I finally found a 3DS copy of this and decided to pick it up. I'm surprisingly enjoying it. The character models are really well-done and the seamless transitions between time periods are cool. It's an okay brawler, but I'm glad I only spent 40 bucks on it instead of picking it up on a console.

It's a requirement of the license to have a game every year, it's not Activision's choice.

i am sure they do need to have one out every year, but they need to put some more time into it. Now that they have the two teams. Hopefully Edge of Time team will be working on a game now until 2013.

How many of the SM games are Metroidvanias? I'm sure I can pick them up for cheap by now so I'd be interested in getting them all at some point. I love me some Metroidvania.

Honestly I think I like the 3DS the version the best of all three. I'm not really a fan of the colors on HD version. The 3DS one looks more comic booky.

Web Of Shadow, Shattered Dimension, and this one. Don't expect anything amazing, just good enough.

Question: I own the EU ver. of SD, and I assume you can unlock some outfits by keeping ur saved data. Will they unlock in the US ver. of EoT?

Damn that $40 price point is pretty sweet. Didnt it take about a year for Shattered Dimensions to reach the $20 price point?

Could someone explain to me exactly how overdrive mode works? Do you have to pull LT just before an enemy attacks or is there some other sort of timing aspect to it? Ive done it a few times but I wasn't sure how it was happening.

Just started this today on the PS3. I'm enjoying it very much. The story mode is more interesting than SD although I miss the mixed gameplay of SD.
