Hopped into the DLC for a bit, got the second story trophy. So far... pretty underwhelming but I guess it picks up speed soon.
I was really excited for the "new crimes" but oh my god they're beyond boring... don't get too excited there.
For the curious regarding crimes:
essentially the well beloved crimes we already know from the base game with new NPC models (to represent the story that goes on) and a bomb defuse one that's mind-boggling easy
The challenges, on the other hand, are kind of... okay I guess? Pretty original to say the least.
Screwball meets Taskmaster: Screwball has challenges for you throughout the map. They range from everything: destroying generators on a time limit to defeating enemies with only a combination of gadgets

I think there is one side quest, was easy to grind through but had no payoff yet.

Sweet thanks for the info! Are the new crimes marked with a different symbol or is it still a red triangle with the exclamation point?

I don't even think they're showing up in the base game per-se. You essentially load into a new game which only has the new content pop up on the map. The only thing shared are the photo locations it seems. And yes, they look the same in terms of UI elements / markers.

SPIDER-MAN 2's Web-Swing Designer Plays SPIDER-MAN (PS4) for the First Time:

It is great to hear what he thinks about it. I think the web-swinging was great. One of the best parts of the game.

Another cool thing he mentioned was that one of the goals he had with the mechanics was to give you that feeling in your stomach when you're dropping from big heights - they really succeeded in doing that, and Insomniac did as well.

Has anyone been playing through the DLC and done some of the Challenges(like the Taskmaster ones)?
They're awful, absolutely horrible. The combat challenges are partly luck based, because for a limited time there are particular spots you have to take down enemies in order to have enough points for Gold. Not worth the time investment.

I agree, I really dislike the "photo bomb" to gain extra points during Screwball Challenges.

Also car bombs, I'm not a fan of doing those crimes.

I almost lost it when I started the DLC last night and the first words of narration are "My name is Mary Jane Watson...", I thought for sure I was getting some more MJ sneaking bullshit.

I only played for like half hour and unlocked the first suit, it's what I expected, more of the same Spidey missions. I'll enjoy it if they can keep MJ segments out.

I think there is one MJ segment and it's very short but at least is similar to the last MJ part of the main story where you get the new mechanic for her (so it's not just only having the option to stealth). But yeah, I get you. I would've vastly preferred these parts to be cut.. or at the very least to be Peter missions where you have to stay stealthy as you take down goons without your suit.

This game seriously needs to bring it the mechanic from 2 (or maybe it was WoS I forget) where when you were jumping out of a webswing into the side of a building, you could just press against the wall, which would slow down your descent and/or forward momentum and put you in this position where hitting X sprung you out off the wall (which IIRC could also be charged like your ground jump). It's a nice alternative to wall-running all the time and feels way better than simply pressing X to cancel your wall runs here. It was a separate "wall sliding" animation. This game just doesn't do anything if you're falling with the building 1 inch from you, and you're holding the analog stick in the direction of the wall, you just fall.

I also really wish I could wall run straight down a building, or at least at a good downward angle. When you try crawling on the side of a building, looking straight down at the street and holding wallrun, he automatically changes direction and runs parallel to the streets. Really weird. I want to be able to run straight down walls as I'm coming out of huge falls from high web swings.

I am late to the party here. Got my first ever plat trophy from it. Currently have 100’d main playthrough, dlc, and am a few side activities short on my NG+ playthrough.

Just such a good game. Looking forward to the next two DLC drops

So I managed to get Gold on everything EXCEPT one Combat Challenge. There's one on a roof that requires 55,000 to get gold and I can only ever manage 54,000~.
I get every photo bomb opportunity, the amount of points you get for time is capped at 25,000 and I get that every attempt.
What am I missing?

Alright so some thoughts. Just finished
the second Li fight
i feel like things are quickly winding down.
I hate challenges but I want more gadget upgrades!
How do you unlock the final suit and is it worth it at all?

Welcome to the Platinum club! It can be a dark place at times, haha.

My Name is Mayo, try that next.

Finished the story. All in all, that was pretty damn good.
Now I need advice. Do I mop all the rest of the crimes/bases/challenges/side quests I have left, do I hop into the DLC or do I start a NG+ play through? I really wanna get that plat.

Just beat rhino and scorpion. I love the combat but hate the design of the characters. I hope if there is a sequel they give the characters more traditional looks. Keep the combat as after the flow is figured out I like it more than Batman. Story was ok so far. I don’t mind the story being unique but I feel the characters look so weird.

I just had glitch in Black Cat DLC. I started playing it for the first time and the time of day changed to day when the gameplay started. Just after the opening cutscene. Then it changed to night like it should be when I arrived at the art gallery. Then it changed back to day after the mission. Shouldn't it be nightime? I continued to do missions and it always goes back to day during freeroam parts. I had day in the main game when I started the DLC so that could have caused the glitch. Is there any way to restart the DLC? I don't see any option for that.

If the plat is your #1 goal, then just finish all of the side activities in your regular playthrough. NG+ and the DLC are completely separate from the Platinum trophy.

That's pretty funny, yes it should always be nighttime.
Does it function alright?
I managed to fix it. I had to go to the main game and change the time of day and then go back to DLC. They really should add option to restart the DLC. Immersion is a very important thing for me. I also had another glitch. The game froze during
the first Screwball side mission. I got stuck in slow-motion when doing the photobomb thing and then the whole game froze when I tried to shoot a web.

Love the game, because hey, webslinging and swinging around the city as Spider-Man is just plain awesome. The combat doesn't feel like Arkham to me, but then I tend to swing around when fighting... maybe it's different if you stay on the ground. I see the similarities, but it doesn't feel the same. For better and worse.

All of that said, comparing super-hero games, I think I prefer Infamous to both Batman and Spider-Man.

The Armour Spider Mk 1 in the new Turf Wars DLC isn't too bad, I'm guessing it's supposed to be the one from the 90's, which I really liked. It looks a little different, but I like it more than any of the other DLC suits so far.

Finished the Turf Wars DLC, it seemed a lot shorter than the first one. But the same kind of thing, just a few extra story missions, some district crimes and hideouts to complete, and some Screwball challenges which are incredibly annoying. I actually had to turn off the voice audio after a few tries on the stealth ones because Screwballs repeating dialog is just too much.

The 2 spider armour suits look fantastic I think, especially the Civil War suit, it has the iron man jet things on the hands and feet, just looks really cool, and I think they glow a bit when you are doing the dive move. The Spider-Clan suit looks stupid I think. The cartoon stuff looks cool, but it doesn't gel with the rest of the world obviously.

I liked the Turf War DLC. I finished the main missions few days ago. Side missions were annoying so I didn't play many of those. This was better than The Heist in my opinion but I had many glitches when playing that so that might have affected my opinion. I'm getting a bit tired of the combat. It is fun sometimes but Arkham games did it better.

I 100%'d the 2nd DLC the day it came out.
Getting gold on the Screwball missions was still miserable and no fun, but I found them easier than in the first DLC.

I really love the gameplay presented as it pertains to how the player controls Spider-Man. It reminds me a bit of how tight Breath of the Wild's player interactions, through Link, were very exact and satisfying. I bought the DLC because I wanted more, but I don't think I would have done it knowing the quality and diversity of the mission structure would suffer so much in comparison to the main game.
I hope a sequel will be in the works some time soon, I want more.

Please don't kill off Peter in the universe. The game Universe is apparently it's very own(1048), a clean slate with little baggage.

The Raimi suit looks great. I'm going to play New Game + soon with it. It looks good in photomode:

It does, but I found it particularly awesome in general to see any of the suits properly reflected in all the cinematica / story sequences... thanks Insomniac for real-time cutscenes and being able to be Scarlet Spider for most of the game :)!

The combat in this game is sometimes a massive chore. Some enemies are just total bullshit and seem to hit you even after the game has told youve done a perfect dodge, and there's some general floatiness and glitchiness that really hampers the experience. I mean in some of the encounters theres literally shit everywhere and no matter what you do you get hit. When not suffering from those problems it's great.

However the mandatory stealth sections are absolute trash, break the pacing and just boring as fuck. I wish this game wouldnt force me to play as the most boring version of MJ ever.

I did find some of the combat scenarios pretty challenging at times, you just get swarmed with a lot of stuff, particularly in the later stage stuff with the Hydra guards (I think that was their name), there are guys with jetpacks shooting missles, and guys zooming at you leaving fire trails, and guys just beating you, sometimes it feels like you're non stop dodging. If you use the one suit power where he jumps up and webs everyone up, it makes shit pretty easy. I tended to use the healing one and just try to fight my way without using any gimmicks beyond the gadgets.

Ultimately I found the combat very fun though and it felt really great to get huge 100 + combos using nearly every tool in my arsenal.

I love this game and played the absolute hell out of it. Spider-Man 2 on ps2/gcn/Xbox was the game that had to be bettered in terms of swinging mechanics and I think they pretty much did it but there needs to be one or two major changes.

R2 should be right hand web, L2 should be left hand web. I find my self coming around corners and pushing left and Spidey shoots to a building on the right. We need more control as to where we can attach to buildings and a simple left or right priority system is needed.

Also they need to remove the automatic let go/release when you swing up. I want to catapult around a corner upwards and loop the loop, building momentum before choosing the perfect moment to let go.

Please do this for the sequel. Make an advanced swinging system option for those that want it and keep the easy swing so everybody else can enjoy it aswell.

I would like to play the DLC, but the current price of it is still too high to jump in. Hopefully we can see a sale sooner rather than later.

It was on sale for like a minute last month I think.
I bought it but of course still haven't touched it yet.

Why didn't anyone tell me the game was this good? Fine, everyone tried to tell me, but why didn't I listen?

Seriously, this is a lot of fun. While I am a sucker for graphics, production value and all that non-gameplay related fluff (which this has in spades), it's really refreshing to dive into a AAA game that's actually really fun to play. It really feels like it's catering to the gamer, rather than the self-indulgence you sometimes see from devs in big budget games....well, for the most part, the MJ stealth parts are pretty meh, but generally speaking, this game clicks on all cylinders. I'm compelled to finish it (which doesn't happen a lot) thanks in part to an interesting story - something I wouldn't expect in a super-hero game.

After getting the platinum I stopped playing. Downloaded all the DLCs and just don’t know when to start them. I NEED to take a rest from open world games

I liked the story better than most of the movies. Also the latter half of the game is freaking awesome, it's just insane boss fight after boss fight.

Although one annoying thing near the end of the game is
there's criminals and sable mercs everywhere who can spot you a mile away that start shooting at you
