What's the deal with the worlds? Even though they are tier one, some seem way harder than others. How do I know the difficulty of a tier?

What's the difference between crowns and energy? Are crowns currency and energy is something else?

For crafting, where do I get recipes? What materials are useful for crafting?

Crowns are the currency.

Energy is spent when you do certain action in-game, such as craft or go to a level in Clockworks. You have a max energy of 100 which replenishes at a rate of about 1 per 15 mins.

You can buy energy with either crowns or real life money. That energy is kept separate.

For crafting, where do I get recipes? What materials are useful for crafting?

Every three levels there's a break area with a vendor that sells random recipes. The mats needed for each recipe is listed on the recipe (they vary)

I recommend using the wiki to figure out which items you want. It lists needed mats too.

Depends on how many crowns you have to burn. Unless you're sticking to free mist energy exclusively, I've found that a lot of money will go towards buying energy from someone else, usually used for crafting. Two star recipes at 1000cr each would be fine to pick up whenever you see them, but the 5500cr 3 stars carry a pretty high cost IMO, it's tough for me to save up enough for one.

A rough indicator of difficulty is the little light in the bottom right corner of your mini map. Green means you should be okay, yellow is a little bit tougher, red means you're getting into difficult areas and purple means you are probably highly outclassed.

Generally speaking the floors after the "rest stop" in any given tier (floors 5, 6, 7 in tier 1) are harder than the floors before the "rest stop" (floors 1, 2 ,3 in tier 1).

Royal Jelly seems harder than he actually is. The thing is to basically ignore everything but him and keep him poisoned/on fire/cursed and just stay on him.

2 star equipment is definitely not enough. Definitely need to step up my health/damage/elemental game to scratch the dude. Still, I think some of those arenas are harder :lol

I've got to learn how to shield properly, I'm much to aggressive and end up getting hit when I think I've staggered an enemy but haven't.

But, uh...can fellow Guild members see messages from others' parties that belong to the same guild, but aren't necessarily playing together? I kept seeing random chat messages (and I recognized one of the names), but they weren't in my party. It's kinda funny, actually.

Just in case someone wants to launch Spiral Knights through Steam:

Click Add Non-Steam Game
Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\"
Add "javaw.exe"
It should come up as Spiral Knights in your Steam Library
Right-click Spiral Knights & click Properties
Change Target: to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -jar getdown-pro.jar
Change Start In: to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\spiral

*This was done on Windows 7

If you have trouble, put the Spiral Knight's launcher shortcut on your desktop.
Right-Click the shortcut, & go to the Shortcut tab
Look at the Target: box to find the location of your javaw.exe
Once that is added to Steam, Copy & Paste your Start In: bar into Spiral Knight's Properties on Steam.

check the shortcut in the start menu or desktop and just copy everything over

Just finished getting a full 3 star set. (Well I still use a proto gun as my secondary weapon.... Is it true bombs suck?)

Got Elemental Hood and Cloak, Horned Owlite Shield and Arc Razor. (Really need to get this crafted into a Winmillion, damage boost is ridiculous) Not sure which 5-star items I'll go for with the hood and cloak.

BTW, IGN is Yggdrasil.

both, let someone else make it for you, thats what i did for my skelly helm just pay for energy and a bit extra for labor cost and gather your own mats

Only viable for the lower levels, since people cant upgrade your gear for you, you'd have to remake a new 2* in order to turn it into a 3*.

I've learned that pure defense power is useless once you get into tier 1, you really want elemental defense as a priority in this game.

I still have about 800 left of my 1600, biggest spender is crafting i've done loads of runs for my money so far however.

Best thing to do is exit the game for a few hours now and again to earn back that mist energy, helps pad it out a lot.

when you craft higher star gear you need the lower gear first, so it's sort of half upgrading half making new.

Anyone else gaming on a Mac? For some reason if I'm pressing the Up Arrow and hit "1", I yell "Follow Me" instead of pulling out my #1 slot item. Or sometimes the # key I press will get stuck down so if I try to talk it just spams "1111111111111111111111111111111111111"

I haven't been having this problem (but I've mainly been playing on my PC). But I can't get the numbers keys to work (for items) unless I'm standing still, which doesn't happen to me on my Windows desktop. This isn't a "too many keys at once" problem, so I don't know why it's happening.

After some tinkering, I found the SK's icon at:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\spiral\rsrc\ui\icon\app.ico

I made a copy of it and made it app.ico.exe and it worked with Steam.

Hey, Does anyone know if stat bonuses from equipment stack? Like if my armor gives me a low damage boost, and my helm gives me a medium damage boost, do I get both? Or just the medium?

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't stack. They always do in every other game with equipment bonuses.
