Does anyone know the criteria for the host selection algorithm?

Do Ethernet and 5 GHz WiFi users have a higher chance to host matches?

It'd be pretty horrible if they made 2.4 GHz WiFi users hosts and this would explain the numerous disconnections (nothing here so far).

Hm, all of mine have been pretty even from what I can recall, at least the last five or so have been anyway
With power closer to 1700 than 1400?

I would believe that there's more people in the 1200s in team Ketchup than in team Mayo. You probably have a high enough rank (weren't you in the 2000s at some time) so that helps balancing the numbers. But that means you get associated with 1200s, and that explains what you see (1700+1600 is definitively better than 2000+1100, even if the average is the same).

The game is having to "reach out further" in terms of player ping to put together full teams of ketchup or mayo for Splatfest, it's not just throwing all the same local players into a lobby like it usually can.
I can understand that to some extend, but that wouldn't explain that most of the "unstable connection" happen in the last 10 seconds...

1700, I guess. Last Team Mayo match I had was, I think, 1630 to 1670

I don't know why, but I'm losing constantly. Coming down from a 20 win streak to an almost 15 losing streak in the splatfest.

Yet another Ketchup victory!

Even all the twitch streams I've checked out, Mayo has been getting destroyed.

Mayo barely beat Ketchup in Japan. Might be a 3-0 sweep for Ketchup here in the states ;)

Up to 2090.4 Mayo Power. The Tri Slosher feels like cheating.

Is this Mayo Power whats taken into account for the Splatfest scoring?
Debating whether or not to just play straight through the full 24hrs.

no it's for the match making.
reward is depending on your mayo level (max ks king/queen) and who wins (mayo or ketchup)

How long has it been taking everyone to reach their max splatfest levels?

edit - Also why did so many of you buy the JP version?

Power level is for matchmaking.
Win percentage is what decides the splatfest winner.

So it tallies up every Splatfest battle win and loss?
Might just blast through it then. I missed out on every Splatfest in S1 and am having a ton of fun right now. =D

Looking at my app, it took me 33 matches to get to Mayo King. As it was practically non-stop playing: around 2 hours for me.

What happens when someone votes your miiverse post 'fresh'?
Think it gives you a like on twitter? I'm not sure. It's annoying how number of retweets determines whether your post get viewed at all in the game. Wish it would work like in the OG splatoon. Where everyone you played with shows up in your plaza. Now we're stuck with furry crap...

there are 3 factors which determine the winner team (in this case mayo or ketchup) of the splatfest:
popularity
win rate solo
win rate team

reached Mayo queen.
things didn't go that well in my matches.
only a single Mayo vs Mayo match. guess Ketchup is more popular or it's very close

I was just going off the fact that they don't count lol Players could have enough of Splatfest and barely even fight against their rival team. So all they played in were cancelled out matches which doesn't result in a lose for ketchup, but doesn't result in a win either.
Well sure, but that just means nothing comes of them. It's not like mayo can somehow get more matches against ketchup then ketchup can against mayo.
