Hey, anyone know if there's any kind of stat tracking or MMR in Quick Battle? My nieces are over this weekend and I'm just curious if I'll be affecting anything if I let them mess around on my account.

Ink brush is totally worthless on Salmon Run.

It's actually a really nice weapon for someone that's more of a scout to collect eggs, since you're right at max speed as soon as you hold the button down (very, very, very useful for the grates), and its smaller profile will have you bouncing off far less than you would with the roller. Also, the stream it leaves is big enough to be able to swim in, so it makes for a solid tip of the spear for runs towards stationary bosses, too.

Yeah, I think the jumping up multiple ranks thing only works for C to B? I just went from B to B+ in Splat Zones even though I haven't lost a single game.

Well the jump is based on your relative skill/contributions compared to others so it makes sense that the higher the rank you're in, the better the players are, and the less you jump. The system is basically a way to ensure you get to the rank you "belong" in faster than the simple linear progression of the first game, where bad teams could hold back good players. I LOVE the new changes. Ranked mode is still stressful, as it should be, but no longer incredibly frustrating as it was before. Splatoon 2 players are lucky they didn't have to experience Splatoon 1's ranked system

Hahahah every-time I lose in Splat Zone... my level up bar increases just a little bit. My avatar sits on the ground and he looks depressed. He's depressed. I'm depressed.

I had a match where it was just 100 and the team swept us.

I'm in the C- Warzone.

Got any tips?

Last time around in Splatoon 1 the hardest rank to be in was the lower ranks cause usually your team isnt jelling and strategies arent very good.

Tentamissiles are super powerful in ranked. Can easily flip map control cause teams are often clustered. So maybe that special with gear that increases special fill rate or helps you have a fuller special meter after you die.

Otherwise really find the weapon you can do the most damage with.

Also don't be afraid to be a wild card on your team, a lot of times the battles flow the same way same chock point, die respawn, but you can flank and go around, try something wildly different and throw off the other team and disrupt them.

The tri slosher carried me all the way to b+ and I didnt evrn know how to use a slosher (never used them on splatoon 1)
Use the tri slosher

Current standing for myself is
Splat Zones: B
Tower Control: B
Rainmaker: B-
... kind of ironic since Rainmaker is probably my favourite mode, lol

My goal is ultimately get to A with everything, since that's where I was in Splatoon 1.

In addition to the tips above that were posted, I switched to the Octobrush for Splat Zones (I'm a Splat Dualies user primarily. Tentatek Splattershot user in the first game). I have little experience with the Octobrush outside of Salmon Run, but I found it incredibly useful in Splat Zones.
Edit: I should also note that I hated Splat Zones in Splatoon (and since that game had a shared Ranked system, I would not play during them), and wasn't liking them here until I tried the Octobrush

First night of tower control last night.

If you're at all worried just make another profile on the Switch (it's free, needs no email address or anything and takes like 20 seconds - just give it a name and an icon). This way they can play on their own profile with their own MMR and unlocks etc.

Man, Flyfish are the worse. While Steelheads are harder to take down (especially with the current armory) they don't have the insane range and tracking of the Flyfish and the frustrating killing method.

How?

I never do. How many times in a row do you have to lose? Most of the time I don't even lose my meter.

I've actually been thinking how easy its been to get up to A-

If you get a few losses your exp bar breaks and you lose a big chunk of skill level, kind of an interesting way of approaching it because if you only need one win to rank up, you won't lose a match and then need two to rank up.

I got skipped up from C to B- in Splat Zone, and I didn't even realize it until looking at it, but the same thing happened in Tower Control, too. Guess I'm doing pretty good in those modes, though it doesn't feel like it sometimes. Rainmaker just doing the regular shit, at C+, guess I'm not doing as well in that one.

Splatfest theme sucks, though. I don't like either of those things.

Interesting.

I always pretty easily get the Yellow line. So Its never broken and I've never lost rank.

The old days losses were huge cause it dropped out. But now... lose? Who cares.

i played two matches a couple of days ago and inkblot academy was the only map I saw. Last night I played for an hour and inkblot academy was also pretty much the only map I played. I got to play on humpback pump track twice.

For people who don't have a lot of time to play this rotation system they have is just stupid. People need to stop defending this

Also if you are losing a lot in ranked, back out and get a new team. Sometimes your team just doesn't work and its a bad combo.

Tri Slosher is killing my enjoyment of this game. I literally have to back out of the lobby because I can't switch weapons during matchmaking.

Tried out Salmon Run finally. How does difficulty work with this? We only played like 3 or 4 waves before it sent us back.

You take on three waves. After you rank up you're put into more and more difficult waves and spacial conditions such as fog and rising sea levels start showing up.

Just got out of a 2 v 4 match. Nintendo needs to fix the matchmaking. This is ridiculous. I've played more matches today with uneven teams than with even.

Splat Zones just isn't a good mode if you ask me.

A single hill setup with locked loadouts and a single repsawn point for each team just doesn't work very well. It's too easy for good teams to take root and make it incredibly tough to get in because the game is just too predictable.

If you spawn into a game and discover your team's loadouts are naff, you're just stuck battling away in hope.

Honestly, having played more competitive shooters where you've got rotating hills, dozens of spawn points per map and the ability to switch loadouts on the fly to stem the tide of battle, I feel very constricted and frustrated with it.

This mode, along with a number of other baffling design decisions, have really soured me on the game. :(

Just got to A- on splatzones. Games can swing so fast at this level

Edit: awww splatzones is over. Back to B tier on tower control

I believe the matchmaking attempts to balance the rooms, based on the weapon classes, so that's why you can't switch on the fly. Plus the maps aren't very big to warrant multiple spawn points. However, there sure squid beacons you can take advantage of to spawn to!

Splat Zones gets more engaging in the higher ranks, imo. With teams deviating into strategies like two squids holding the fort, while the other two try and quell off any attacks/block off choke points. I haven't jumped into Spalt Zones in this game yet, but in Splatoon 1, they had stages where you needed to take over two hills.

It gets engaging, but it also won't be or everyone.

Also splitting ranks between the modes helps a lot. A lot of times your rank would taaaaaaaaaank in the modes you suck at and you'd rubber band a lot.
