Because of Splatfest. It's 4 or nothing because when you normally join a friend you aren't always on the same team with them.

Now, you just get a bit more if your team does.

I found out testing in the shooting range with weapons and noticed it was doing half damage for non crosshair hits, explains to me why sometimes I can kill in a few hits or several with the dualies.

It might not be the issue you are having but I thought I would mention it.
