how do i play with 4 friends all on the same team unranked... this game is so much fun but wtf i have to look up everything and jump through hoops to play

Was just on a team with 3 chargers. Please tell me more about how we can't switch weapons between matches because the matchmaking needs to make balanced teams.

They take weapon into account when putting people in team!! Which is why I've never been put into 3-roller team, ever. /s

Well, if you aren't in a team with friends, can't you just leave and find another room after the game?

I take it back, the matchmaking in this is fantastic. Putting a level 6 and a level 3 on the same team when the entire other team is at least double digits makes complete sense.

The baller is fine for turf war, but for killing enemies it's pretty bad. You can only kill people by catching them off guard because it has no range lol

How does ranked work??? Do you fill up the ink in he box area ???

Thanks they don't exactly tell you

Yeah this shit super infuriates me. Like, we we're all low level at one point, everyone starts at the bottom so I don't want to "shame" these players, hell some of them are legit good, a low level just means that they haven't played as much as the player with a higher level, it's not necessarily skill based, I've seen some shit high level players and for all we know these low level players are all pro mlg splatoon 1 veterans that just happened to get a switch recently and have yet to level up, but regardless surely the reason we have levels in the first place is for matchmaking? Sometimes you have to make sacrifices but surely this shouldn't be happening on a constant basis, put all the low level players together for pete's sake!

I think its pretty decent for turf war, it allows you to push forward and is helpful if you're pushing into/towards their spawn point with another team-mate, some players don't know what to do with you when you do it too and and just corner them and *splat*

Splatting also releases a decent amount of ink and allows you to capture an important point (like the centre of the map) as they retreat and pull back.

In other multiplayer games, there is often a casual mode where rank/level isn't taken into account for matchmaking, I'm fairly sure I was fighting some super high rank guy in the casual mode(been a while, forgot what it's called) in Hearthstone, I got decimated in seconds. Granted, I'm not super good Hearthstone player, but I have rarely ever met someone that good when playing ranked, when it takes my low rank into account.

Isn't turf war that "casual mode" for Splatoon 2?

So are the Pros playing with a joycon in each hand when not in portable mode?

I couldn't get used to this. Once I start using the motion controls to aim, my thumb just forgets about the analog stick. For some reason this isn't a problem with the pro controller for me. I think it's just the awkward location of the stick messes me up, my thumb doesn't naturally want to go down there.

I even bought those battery grip packs to make them more comfortable, but it didn't help me any.

Corner they ass.

I've seen three people jump off the edge to their doom because I cornered them lol

This is very true. The Baller is pretty much Splatoon 2's equivalent of a late game Inkstrike in Turf War. If you can run it deep into their territory and blow it up right before the game ends that's a pretty big swing.

Ugh, I hate people who don't know the routes and pick up the Rainmaker, and then ignore you when you go "This way!"

there's nothing quite like grabbing the rainmaker then following a brusher who just runs the fuck deep into enemy territory like a squid with an actual functioning brain

The games rules should be shown on this screen without pressing a button. Most people that are new to the game will assume it's just like Turf War and try to just ink as much territory as possible or splat as many opponents as possible.

I guess you're not wrong, it's just infuriating when it's so lopsided. In the end I should just try to have fun, enjoy it and not take it so seriously, and it's funny because I never got frustrated or annoyed during the 100's of hours I spent on Splatoon 1, whether I was winning or not but Splatoon 2 has triggered something within me! :P It's got to the point that I'm blaming tick rates for my loses! lol

I really don't mind having two maps for a two hour block, but I never understand why the fuck you play the same map 5-6 times in a row,

Fuck Humpback Pump Track, 7 games of Rainmaker since the reset. ONLY this map.

You have a 1/64 chance of playing the same map 6 times in a row. This shouldn't be happening every single day.

I wouldn't be so mad if this map wasn't decided by who knows the rails exist.

learn to be stressed and rank and then plunging back into turf war will make turf war relaxing as fuck

True, might give ranked another try, but as soon as I grab the rainmaker I can practically hear my team-members screaming and I don't even have chat enabled! I played a bit of splat zones in Splatoon 1 and likewise Tower Control and they were fun enough, I'm decent at them, I just don't like pressure. I'm here just to paint things, you know?

Painting plays a vital role in both tower control and rainmaker. Cant win without good painters.

People with their "post more furries!" and their "don't let furry posts die!" pics in the Plaza really get me upset.

Let something else have their time!

That might have been me. It was an accident though!

i don't want to get into a probability argument here but i don't think it's as simple as 2^6

I get so frustrated with brushes - I know I should be outranging them, but it feels like you can be swimming away at the edge of their range and they'll still clip you every god damn time. Same with trislosher.

i hate trislosher and brushes because it feels like they just toss out a wall of ink and you can't avoid it even with dodgerolls sometimes

I mean, you're the one that compared it to a coin flip.

yeah but now we're just talking straight up probability and i know that's how it looks like it works but i don't think that's how probability actually works? or maybe i'm just confused?

it might only be a 1.5% chance overall or something but that means given the amount of players it's got to be happening to a dang lot of people

Something i noticed is that they've really tried to make each stage specialize in Splat Zones now. The revamped Port Mackarel is all about short-range knife-fighting compared to a more cerebral strategy game (with two zones far apart) in the first game. The Reef is the same way, with the zone under the bridge, the best action is close-quarters.

I understand and I agree, it's why I never got into Splatoon 1: I bought the game late, so after a few games as a rank 1 in games with high rank(granted, there might not have been many low ranks by the time I got the game), I stopped playing because I felt like I was letting my teams down.

However, in Splatoon 2, may be because I started with everyone else, and I know that sometimes low rank players may be Splatoon 1 veterans, so I never gave it much mind.

Thinking about it, may be the rank difference will become less of an issue the further the series go, there will be people who have played the previous games and so rank is further not a reflection of a player's experience and skill with the franchise.

Also, starter gun is scary as hell.

Please let the furry posts die. We're getting a shit rep from all this spamming (even if a lot of the art is legit good)

Spamming a children's game full of dog-people licking mayonnaise doesn't sound out of the ordinary for existing furry "rep". I wouldn't worry about it being affected.

I report it all silently and try to "Fresh!" good posts.

Agreed, and yeah the Splattershot Jr is a really good weapon.

Hey so it looks like I have clothes with the same power up enabled on both, let's say, shirt and shoe.

Is that redundant or does it do anything different?

We have "Booyah!" and "This Way" but imo we also need "Leave me alone" for letting players know that you don't need them hugging you when you're staying back painting and also "PAINT THE GROUND" for when...well when they're not painting the ground. I appreciate the help but we don't need half our team painting our spawn point, just leave me and go ahead.
