A mix of fun games and annoying games today, spread between Salmon Run and some GAF-turf. Favorite moment of the day probably came during a particularly hectic second wave of salmon where time was running out and we were still short of the quota, with like two teammates down already. Figuring we were already screwed, I decided to go for broke and dualie-attacked a Drizzler. Nabbed one of the eggs and made a mad dash through a messy ink-field and hit the basket right in the span between the screen flashing 1 second and the mission timing out in failure. The clutchest finish! We went on to clear the third wave too and although we didn't collect a ton over quota that game, it was super-tense and satisfying to pull off.

Then it was back to turf war where I tried out a bunch of stuff that didn't work very well. Still don't have any weapon that I actually like using on Moray Towers. Carbon roller hitbox continues to be a thing of mystery despite my love for the rest of the kit. I still can barely find any way to actually get anything really useful out of the baller special. I guess for now it's time to cut back on the experimenting and buckle down more of a focus onto the couple of weapons I already know I like.

Baller's tricky, aye. One thing i learned is that the explosion will kill someone using the inkjet if you roll underneath them, though, so that's something.

I wish this game had voice chat so that I could curse loudly at people

no, that wouldn't be enough. The person on my team who goes into Rainmaker with a Tri-Slosher and literally just stands on our goal waiting, like we're playing Rocket League, watching as the enemy pushes closer and closer, while we can't even get the damn thing past the center of the map because WE'RE playing with three people and one ' ' goalie ' '... you deserve worse than words you son of a piece of shit lmao

The dream. "Go Left mother fucker go left.

The baller was specifically designed to fuck up an Octobrush's day lol.

Then again there was a game in the Reef where I was rolling at a Octobrush and she smacked me off the bridge. That was so cool. I wasn't even mad about it.

God damn i keep getting denied being promoted from go getter in salmon run. Got the first super bonus but at the cost of getting the min required salmon eggs and getting team wiped with 1 second on the clock during the final wave ;_;.

It's amaaaaaazing.

There's so much cool art and other fun stuff in there (social media posts, comics, etc). I think I only got it for $20 from Amazon, but I would've easily been fine paying the full price for it.

Yeah the same book, it's bigger and it's hardcover though. I think there's a few extra pages of Splatoon 2 stuff that wasn't in the Japanese one.
Perfect! It's sounds great!

It's only 25 bucks right now so I don't mind paying that price at all! Once I get payed at least.

Plus I love hardcover books.

I'm not really sure how that would work, since the octobrush swings would, I think, keep the baller pushed back enough that once you start to wind up the detonation sequence, they'd be able to back away incredibly easily from the explosion and then that just leaves you there with no real advantage anymore. Baller has a lot more protection upfront than the Splashdown, but the resulting explosion is much smaller and doesn't seem to have nearly the potential for follow-up damage/splats especially given the kits Baller comes on right now.

There's a lot of folks saying that the stingray feels a little weak compared to other specials (I suppose I'm among them, to an extent), but I feel like I get much more utility out of it right now than I do Baller. The protection only works so well and if you want to use it for sneaking up on people, the long fuse-time and small explosion radius make it incredibly easy to notice and avoid. I'm not sure a Splattershot even needs to really move out of their normal effective range in order to avoid damage and just counterhit you once the baller's gone.

Rainmaker carriers should utilize the fully charged shot more. Not only is it delivers straight ink to path your way, its strong explosion and good range also scares the hell out of enemies trying to block your way on front. It's ever more powerful than the rainmaker version in S1.

Why do I keep doing this to myself. I hate myself:( Ended the night on a 5 game losing streak. Including a match where I took out the entire other team, twice, because they were stupid enough to stand on the tower together. Yet that went into OT where we lost. Another game where my entire "team" decided to spend the whole match standing on the spawn point. WTF? And then another where a player dropped early. I got the "There hasn't been players blah blah you won't drop a rank." But guess what I learned. That doesn't mean the meter can't break. Again, WTF!

The meter breaking or getting a crack in it even after getting the message is a glitch for sure as I hope it get fixed in this months patch.

Hadn't played Salmon Run in over a week or so (mostly since the first Saturday...? I played way too much that night), but I ended up hitting Profreshional after an hour or so tonight. I'm surprised I did that well, particularly as I was multitasking for part of it.

I expect to drop back down pretty quickly, though.

I got a pro controller yesterday and, only in Splatoon 2 mind you, I have this issue where it acts like certain buttons are being held down. For example, when I go the weapon menu, the cursor will constantly go to the left. I looked it up and it seems like other people have had this exact issue and it is an issue with the game itself. How weird. I can fix it by going to sleep mode and waking the switch up, but it comes back.

I have this exact issue. It is terribly infuriating when it happens. I haven't found a fix yet. :(

Seems like a good place to end it for the night. Had some really good close matches where I thought for sure we'd lost, but pulled it off.

I want to go back to the NES zapper, but the super seems so worthless to me. My favorite weapon so far, if it weren't for that.

Ink armor is one of the best supers in the game, especially in ranked.

I haven't played rank, too scared. I need to find a YouTube video or something that gives me some tips for the armor. Never felt like it did much for me, but I was pretty good with the gun itself. If I could get the super going too, might do some good.

I'm liking the spread on whatever that gun is I used tonight. Gets shit covered in paint real good.

Why is it that Moray Turf is that map where the teams sometimes swap sides? Where both teams end up on each other's ramps. Always end up debating whether I should go back and flank them and fight them off, or just try to outcover their base than ours.

Have seen that happen on occasion on all maps but it seems pronounced on Moray. Starfish too, I guess.

Nothing to be scared about. Most people in C rank are pretty terrible, you don't really have any pressure or expectations to live up to.

Ink armor is nice because it protects your entire team and can be used to negate a grenade or in really aggressive pushes, comes through in a clutch if you can anticipate when you might need it. The two second delay can make it difficult to use but it's really darn good otherwise.

Salmon Run is a total shambles tonight. Think it's the weapons or in teamed with a bunch of muppets, but barely getting off the first wave. Don't think the weapons help, the Gatling gun, paintbrush, sniper and dualies - quite specialised.

Just lost an entire pay grade in about twenty minutes!

Of course I could be just playing terribly too!
The weapon selection is hard since there's a charger and gatling gun which are more long range weapons that require charging to cite. Then the inkbrush is rather weak and you need to be close to hit them. Also ran into bad teams that wouldn't work together as a team, communicate or revive fallen teammates.

Shit, didn't realize the whole team got it. Guess that explains why I randomly get it sometimes.

Scrolling through tracks in Ika Radio, and seeing that every online song is sung by Wet Floor... I require new music for Online, preferably by different bands!

this game more than any other game gives me rage for some reason. I don't know why but tower control when you kill 2 dudes and start hurting the third to somehow still get murdered makes me yell 'fuck you teaaaam' so much.

I love it though, but yeah, rage. and I play rocket league regularly.... I should be used to this or something...

Whew, that was a hard day at work. I had to stay pretty late.

But now I'm home and I can't wait to play some Salmon Run!

goddammit nintendo

I don't understand how Salmon Run works. I played 20 games in a row and lost 16 of them. Why were they soooo difficult today? The other day it was much easier and I hate how they force you to use weapons you're not good with.

I hope they change it to where we can use any weapon.
I really hope not. I like it because you have this random choice each time actually. You just adapt, or worst case, you skip one if the weapons are really too complicated for you.
But it's a matter of team more than anything. It's not that hard at all even at the highest rank.

I got to play Salmon Run with lower rank friends a while ago and it felt so easy I could almost deal with everything by myself, compared to being in profresh difficulty.

But Yeah, sometimes, you wish you got another weapon : P. During these moments I just try to think of the best way to use it. Rarely happens to me, and I'm not a vetaran at all.

When you get high tide on Wave 1 and a Fly Fish spawns on the other side of the grating...

Flyfish on the far side of grating during high tide is honestly the worst, second is probably Griller on high tide on this map.

I'm starting to get why Salmon Run is a timed event...

I just think they made some mistake to put the same gear twice at the same time. :p

It's not the same though. Same item, yes, but different ability. That's the whole draw of buying from the app. I'm pretty sure the in-game stores only have one main ability for each item.

What goes up is probably randomly generated by a computer too.

The matchmaking in this game is so fucking bad. Some matches are so one-sided, with such ridiculous levels, that it's hard to believe it's not fucked up on purpose.

One of my highlights in Splatoon 2 actually comes from Rainmaker.

After a few rounds if seems people were getting cautious about rushing to the Rainmaker since you could die if you're too close to the explosion if your team doesn't win the inking. The bubble exploded but everyone had stood back and it was basically a d face off.

So I just went LEEROY, grabbed it and ran before anyone could react and managed to single handedly get to the base within the first minute of the match.

This was on Musselforge Fitness and I took the right hand route since most of your opponents approach from the right hand side at the beginning of a match/in the lower ranks I think some people don't even realise this is an option.
