I'd keep going with the gryo controls. they'll click and when they do it's glorious.
If you've played Epic Mickey, where you also don't always aim at a target specifically and paint the scenery with a crosshair while in 3rd person, you'll know what I mean: it's wonky. You get used to it, but the ink never really lands where you really want to aim spontaneously, it's messy and you have to correct all the time the wonky interpretation the game does of your intent.
No no no no! There is no Wiimote aiming in Splatoon in any way shape or form! Then again, I read there's a local Wiimote + nunchuk option so maybe they coded something satisfying, but I doubt it works as well as gyro+analog or full dual analog.
It's worth playing, it's not that bad, and has good stuff that makes you dream of what could have been.If have both Epic Mickey's here but still unplayed. Guess I'll take a look at them to see what you mean.
Some people here said there was in local 1 vs. 1 (didn't play that)? No no no no! There is no Wiimote aiming in Splatoon in any way shape or form!
True, I forgot about Metroid Blast, but again, this is a game where you shoot at things, not the scenery, the game can therefore deduce where you want to fire easily.
In Splatoon, though, if you aim a little to the right of your character, do you want to aim to the floor further away where your crosshair points to, or do you want to splash to the direct right of your character? Your crosshair doesn't point to a thing, but is a line from the camera to the crosshair, and you may aim at any point located in that (sometimes pretty long) line.
That's because the game again identifies your targets, there's even a circle appearing around enemies which your point to to notify the game "understands" that you're aiming at them. Try spitting shells at imaginary points, and witness the game not firing it where you want and Yoshi turning his neck in disturbing ways. Again, it's not a big issue in the game because it handles the camera and chooses viewpoints that limit the issue, and again, you're pointing at specific things, but if you point to a random point in the air or a wall or the floor, it's not precise at all. And Splatoon is all about that.
Then again, I read there's a local Wiimote + nunchuk option so maybe they coded something satisfying, but I doubt it works as well as gyro+analog or full dual analog.
Cons
-Why no off screen play? The map really isn't that important. It could be condensed down to the small screen
-Motion controls, eat shit
Ok guys when do these stores reset? My cool vibe is draining with old clothes
The map is essential. You might need to play more to realize that.
Turn motion controls off if they bother you.^^
Being able to see the overall battlefield and launching to other players quickly is extremely essential for strategy.Cons

-30fps plaza, why!?

They could do something like Hyrule Warriors Local multiplayer and lower the textures/resolution a bit. It's always better than nothing

How is you not being good at motion controls a Con? Plus you can turn off motion
Oh I have, just don't like them.
Again, I'm not saying there shouldn't be a map, I'm talking like a Mario Kart style map on screen.

If you aren't accurate enough with motion controls, try turning it down. I found that it makes it so much better. I would recommend turning it all the way down and work your way up until you find the perfect balance between aiming and turning fast enough.Someone help me. I just absolutely fucking suck at these controls. Both the motion controls and the stick controls. I don't know why. I've already played about 5 or 6 hours of the game, mostly with motion controls, and I'm having way too much trouble being accurate.
My brain understands the controls just fine, it's the accuracy that it so difficult for me. I feel like I have a decent grasp of the game in general, I almost always come in first place when I have the roller (which requires no accuracy). But as soon as I switch to any gun, I'm just absolute trash.
Does anyone have any advice? I feel like by now I should have the controls down. I've tried all different sensitivities. I don't know. Maybe I'm just not meant to wield a gun.
It's not just essential to look at though. I'm assuming you haven't played enough, really. Squid Jumping to your teammates or retreating to the base via the touch screen is the important bit. The instant access to those on-screen buttons is what's key in conjunction with that big full-sized live-map. Plus it keeps your playing field unobstructed. Positives piled on positives.
4 hoursDoes anyone know how often do the maps change?
Disagree. The d-pad should be used for basic commands, 'I'm here', 'need help' that pop up on the map that point to POI. All the buttons are not even being used on the pad. You're telling me it's easier to press the screen than it is a face button that used for what you're asking? No.
You haven't addressed how squid jumping would work.
You can only jump to like 3 possible targets. No reason you couldn't assign a button to each one.

I don't want a minimap on my screen thank you very much. It's much more readable on the gamepad

No one is saying you'd have to.I don't want a minimap on my screen thank you very much. It's much more readable on the gamepad
Wear it. Battling with the gear will eventually unlock abilities. How do you get gear with more than one buff attached? I need to get better stuff.

Who said you had to have it? Optional. It works in Mario kart, would be the same in this
