Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I know it's a little early to even be thinking about this, but it would be neat if Splatoon 2 had co-op. Imagine an open world RPG shooter like Borderlands, but, you know, with Splatoon. I'd play the hell out of that.

I don't understand how scores of less than 500 are even possible. I mean, my worst game was probably 600-something.
Holding a key defensive position with the charger means your team can start putting pressure on the enemy, but severely restricts the turf you can ink. If your team doesn't give you adequate support, and the enemy mounts a 4 inkling offensive to break through, they can end up winning, and the scoreboard will make it look like you didn't contribute much.

Edit: I try to make sure I ping "nice!" every time someone saves me, or I successfully super jump to someone's position and they manage to not die mid-transit. Gotta do what you can to boost morale, y'know?

Google Translate:
June 6 11:00 tomorrow, new weapon "Pablo" is added.
Weapon shaped like a brush, power is fast weak proceeds coating speed.
And sneak your opponent's blind spot, it will Abiseyo the ink in the barrage.
Sub "sprinkler", Special's "Tornado".
A sneaky weapon with sprinkler and tornado? Looks like it will go great with my current setup and style.

I love this out of nowhere updates.

So, what's everyone's strategies for Splat Zones?

Since I play the Krak-On Roller, I'll start by going doing the high ground side path (Saltspray Rig, Walleye Warehouse, Port Mackerel, Arowana Mall) until I reach a safe place blocked by two walls where I can place a beacon, and then from there either try to take the zone or move further on to place the other two beacons in a suitable place. Reason being that the side path is (almost) impossible for the enemy to block off and if everyone is killed and beacons destroyed, it's incredibly useful having a safe path back to the zone, since there's nothing stopping the enemy from coming closer to your spawn point and blocking off your path.

Unfortunately (and I've already said this before) rollers fucking suck at vertical climbs and ramps like in Blackbelly Skatepark and the corridors in Arowana Mall, so it relies on team support to be on the high ground to cover you. Luckily the Kraken can climb them as long as there isn't a bar blocking it, but wasting your special on it isn't ideal.

Do we know if Nintendo plans to also add new sub weapons in the future?

It might be possible. If they do this though they'll have to be added onto new variations of existing weapons kind of like the Tentatek/Kelp variations. Balancing sub weapons seems like a much harder thing to do. It's kind of a good thing you're not allowed to choose your own sub weapon loadout.

Depends entirely on the map really. Usually the Charger has been my go to weapon for Ranked and during those moments I keep my distance and maintain a purely defensive strategy, only painting if the area is currently not inhabited.

Any tips for a kep charger in splatzones Urchin Underpass? I tend to underperform greatly here. There are no safe camping zones and it's difficult to advance to the center once you've lost it.

It's even worse when your teammates start going to the center to die one by one instead waiting for the rest to make a push.

Try out the duel squelcher (the red one). It has a decent fire rate and good range.

At what level do you unlock it (I'm 13)? Also I have to check the German name for it.

Yesterday, I used the Airbrush MG a lot but I don't like the Seekers. They hardly hit the enemy even when they're locked on... Just unlocked the Airbrush RG. Might be a good weapon for Splat Zones.

Not really that out of nowhere when the content is on-disc and already covered in the guide and pre-release PR material, but yeah they're rolling out the stuff quicker than I expected. It's unlikely I think but another map release together with the Paintbrush would be super fresh.

I'm on the last world of the single player. Man as good as it is it desperately makes me wish for a full single player game. You could even have a co-op prequel with agents 1 and 2 which I'm sure many fans would enjoy lol.

The vantage points in the middle of the Underpass are the best areas a Charger will get a clean shot but it's important to note that it has a huge blind spot underneath, and if an opponent is sneaky enough they can paint a passage up the wall and screw you up. It's relatively important to hide in the ink as much as you can so they simply don't know you're there, and move between the upper and bottom levels.

Yeah, I definitely hope they do more with the single player next time around.

don't use seekers when your enemy can see you! Use them to ambush, to go up and over small hills, down long corridors and swim in the trail behind them... they're more than just lock-ons, they're distractions and long-rangers

Thank god another roller is coming.

Thank god

Splat Zones is a great mode, but I feel like you almost need an entire different gear loadout compared to Turf Wars. Quick spawning and fast super jump would be really beneficial. I wish we could save preset loadouts that we can switch to easily.

Important part is taking the middle early on. When you do that you can be mobile enough to easily cover all of the three middle entrances from the ground level. I never take a vantage point like NotLiquid suggested. If a good enemy takes the middle then you're in trouble. It's hard to take back once taken. If that happens I would actually recommend trying to make long roads quickly and try to advantage behind enemy lines to hopefully make them break their lines.

Welp, I just realized the best weapon for ranked depends on the current meta.
I mean, I cant do shit with the snipe anymore.. the roller on the other hand is surprisingly effective

From my experience using a Charger on ranked breaks the whole mode. For most parts it's so easy to predict enemy movement when you know where they're going for. Not that I have tried any other weapons.

Interesting, thanks for the advice. Once we take the middle, I usually cover the enemy's side corridor and watch the entrance to the center and the corridor itself, so I can take two routes by myself.

What perks do you recommend for this stage?

Tommorrow, on the 6th of June at 11am, the new weapon "Pablo" will be added. It's a brush-type weapon, weak in power but that can cover the ground fast. Flank your opponents and submit them to a barrage of ink!

Sub is Sprinkler, Special is the Inkstrike.
This seems to have the potential to be TOO good. Looks like it's a fast and slimmer roller though. Interesting. The sub and special are OP for sure.

Does the inkstrike sprinkler combination exist with another weapon?

I love pro matches, is incredible how a player well placed can totally change the results.

First my team was losing about 35-100, than I reached a good position and started playing really defensive, so my teammate with roller conquered the spot and other 2 companions had the time to occupy 2 other good places, and we won a match that appeared already lost!

Media Create said:
- Game sold 144.818 copies at launch
- 97.33% of all units sent to retailers during the first four days were sold
- 97.33% is one of the highest sellthrough ratios ever recorded, and it’s even better than Pokémon Diamond (97.12%)
- As for the Splatoon amiibo, over 106.000 units were sold during launch week, with a sellthrough ratio of over 90%
- Media Create counts the Triple Pack as three units, just like every single seperate amiibo counts as one

Boom!

Firstly the most important thing is getting to the middle as quick as possible after the start of the match. If you can pick off the first enemies to come there the match is yours. After that the key point is to be mobile and watch all entrances. If you want to win after taking the middle don't even bother going further. I use the same perks I do for every stage: Ink Resistance, Main Weapon Ink Saver and the perk that lets you refill your ink that quicker when submerged.

I'm unaware if it insta-kills though, anyone know?

It probably will do.

If I'm honest it just looks like the Splat Zones version of the roller. People complain about the roller being bad in splat zones and this looks like it does what a roller does in splat zones but better. Especially with the specials it has.

how in the fuck am I always the only person taking the superior right entrance to underpass, getting 1-2 easy entry frags only to find the area to my left completely covered in enemy ink and the entire team dead to the meat grinder that is the main entrance into which they will still keep rushing mindlessly for 3 subsequent respawns

So anyone already listed all of the changes on the maps for splat zones?
Port Mackerel: removed the vehicles
Arowana Mall: additonal grates between these two platforms

Anything else?

Urchin has those two little walls on the sides on the each main corridor entrance.

Disconnects are really starting to piss me off...they seem to be getting worse and it's really hard to make progress when I get disconnected every other match

Any tips? I put my Wii U on DMZ to no avail.

Interested in using the paint brush. I'm not much of a roller fan, I don't like how it controls well, and I feel like it limits my movement to a certain degree, but that could just be myself not doing well with it.

Judging from the amount of ink the sub-weapon uses, I'm thinking the seeker:

It's too much for something like bombs or grenades

EDIT: Nevermind. Sprinkler was my second choice :P

Wait a minute, the arrow indicates how much ink you need to use your special? Mind blown

so yesterday in ranked I was using the blaster and there was another blaster on my team. immediately at the start of the match I go into squid form because I knew ink would be laid down. then I jump out and shoot a line and the other blaster on my team locks in with me. we start perfectly alternating between him squidding and me in the air shooting an ink line and then me plopping into the ink in squid form and him jumping in the air to shoot an ink line. it was beautiful. I think he had opening gambit on his hat too because we were perfectly in sync going at the same speed.

Is this the purpose of Ranked?

C+ versus A+

There's not enough A population. Even with mixing ranks like that finding a match takes long.

Im being matched with people that run a lot when they see the laser pointer. I was doing over 10 kills before I hit B rank. I think I need some attack gear so I dont have to fully charge it to splat people

Then don't show them the pointer. You have to make quick shots and if you decide to stay charged in aim somewhere that doesn't reveal your intentions.
