Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I didn't know this, that's great news. Are they always going to keep clothes rotated 24 hours? I've been let down by my clothing choice two days in a row now (been level 20 since 3 days ago).

I guess they would start the 3-map rotation once they have unlocked 8-9 maps. That way, there would be 6 playable maps and 2-3 non-playable maps.

If nothing is available in the shop, order things through Spyke instead.

You know you can order clothes from the people on you plaza talking to Spike ?

Can't remember if it's limited to one item, or one item each per day , but it gives you some more options.

Still barely level 12 myself, too much going on around games I like these weeks xD

Yessir. It's a cool feature and allows for one new item per day along with the daily rotation. I guess I'm just too picky with my clothing choices so far :p

I finally got some sweet glasses that had 2 slots and I added a 3rd slot from Spike.

Sometimes it's also on the weapon of choice. Racking 300p in 3 minutes using a slow ass weapon is a pain for me, that's why I keep those weapons for ranked.

That's true too. I tend to figure out which weapons I like and stick to them (which I actually think is a bad thing. I get too comfortable). But trying new weapons or a weapon that you don't click with, can lead to a bad performance. Doesn't necessarily speak to a players overall skill level.

Could someone translate this please?

Google Translate:
June 6 11:00 tomorrow, new weapon "Pablo" is added.
Weapon shaped like a brush, power is fast weak proceeds coating speed.
And sneak your opponent's blind spot, it will Abiseyo the ink in the barrage.
Sub "sprinkler", Special's "Tornado".

Potential new favorite weapon right there :D

Tommorrow, on the 6th of June at 11am, the new weapon "Pablo" will be added. It's a brush-type weapon, weak in power but that can cover the ground fast. Flank your opponents and submit them to a barrage of ink!

Sub is Sprinkler, Special is the Inkstrike.

I have a feeling it will replace some Aerospray RG users's weapon.
Gonna try for the speed, at least.

I think I'm decent at the game. On average I get 1,100 per match on Turf, and tend to be first place on my team. But I get my ass kicked in ranked. I myself do well, but always seem to lose. I guess maybe I'm not the best strategical player. Even someone in Turf with a high score, might not be going to the right spots in the map (like when a team breaks through and needs to be pushed back or stopped from advancing). So I know I have room to improve. Level 20 as well as high scores per match doesn't mean you are great. Even though I generally win the majority of the Turf matches I'm in, I can't seem to keep a steady/consistent win streak in ranked.

I don't understand how scores of less than 500 are even possible. I mean, my worst game was probably 600-something.

I like to play defensively and control chokepoints to stop rollers and such from getting our ink. This often means I get more kills but less turf inked than my teammates.
It's totally possible. Maybe not with the win bonus though.

The moment you realize you suck.

:(

I want to get better. What's frustrating is I feel I myself do well in every ranked match. I have a high kill count (low deaths). I take over the territory a lot and defend. I just can't seem to win more than 1 match in a row. I might get lucky and win 2 in a row. Then it's back to a losing streak.

Liking the sub/special choice too

Man, I see sub-200s every other match. At that point, you have to be actively trying to not paint.

Yeah, I've had people on teams that spend long periods immobile. Probably kids

The Tornado is the Ink Strike no?

I've also seen players heavily focus on the walls. While painting walls helps with traversing and is absolutely necessary, I've seen newer plays focus heavily on walls thinking they count as points (even though the pt meter doesn't go up). I think some of the sub 200 scores are either those not realizing walls don't count, or those distracted during a match and doing something besides playing.

Oddly enough, I've seen level 10+ heavily painting walls. I want to ping them and tell them no, but I can't.

That's what they need to add, the ability to ping the map on your gamepad. Like in MOBAS. Although people can abuse that and make it annoying. So nvm.

I think the problem is that ranked requires more team work than turf. In turf, you have more of an impact towards the end compared to ranked which requires holding territory with your team. It's a hit or miss when it comes down to competent teammates.

Overall I find ranked battles frustrating because when we hold the territory, my team usually tries to spawn camp the enemy instead of spreading ink near the territory to allow mobility. I try to do it myself but it's too slow to cover an entire area with a blaster.

I think the most important thing in ranked is to know what your team mates are doing. If you see all 3 get splatted, I find it best to retreat slightly from the splat zone and let them superjump to me so that all 4 of us can attack at once.

So I tried to to get some points before the map rotation for that sweet Judd reward. Lost every single game. A lot of annoying things like mines that I cleared the area around but they exploded way after that killing me but worst of all is the bubbler special. I hit someone enough to kill them in our close quarters mutually assured destruction but oh no they had the bubbler all along but lag didn't tell me...

Hopefully splatfests will be more lag free. Oh who am I kidding I'll just be connected to Australians because Nintendo considers that the same region as Europe (except for downlaod codes).

I can't blame it all on lag though, my aim has gone to shit recently though a little of that is being matches with players who bunnyhop and do other weird things.

Does the star ranking mean anything on clothes except the numer of original slots?
It also affects how many points are needed to unlock abilities.

How do you get 3-starred gear from Spike with all the abilities set. He will only sell me stuff with 3 ?'s
This is what you want. 3* gear goes like this:
Normal shop price: ~10000
Spyke price (3?): 15000
Spyke price (2?): 30000
Spyke price (1?): 50000

Now the thing about the 3? Spyke price is it is cheaper than re-rolling (if you buy gear you already own you can replace it). It is just a matter of finding someone with the outfit you want to re-roll and hoping when the order comes that it is 3?s

I honestly don't know why the map rotation is a thing. It brings down the game significantly, as I get bored of playing the same maps over and over again.

Increasing it to 3 maps doesn't solve the problem; why can't all maps be available? If there's some kind of balancing issue regarding voting, then people don't even need to bed able to vote; a map could be randomly selected from the whole list.

Also, not being able to change your weapon loadout without exiting a lobby is a massive pain, especially considering how long it can take to join a lobby.

It's a shame, as if these two things were addressed, the game would be improved significantly. I love Splatoon, but it's frustrating to see it held back by really poor design choices that could be easily resolved.

That's a great tip. I do think I need to improve. If I'm losing that much in ranked, then I'm obviously contributing to the losses. I've always felt I needed to improve myself when it comes to playing more strategic and having map awareness. I think my problem is that Splatoon is a very aggressive game. Turf can reward this and allows for people to play the hero.

I need to pull back on Ranked and really consider what my team is doing. So I appreciate the advice. I want to get better. I love this game a lot and know I'll be playing it non stop for a long time. Getting better at ranked is my goal.

"Finally got both zones! Now all we have to do is def-- where are you going, Roller? Roller? ROLLER!"

almost lost a 4v3 ranked because the enemy had an invisble krakon roller

you'd die with no enemy in sight whatsoever then watch the killcam zoom away 20 meters where the roller materialized out of thin air

guy went 22-6 so yeah, that was fun

at least next game was a just a normal lagfest

that is why pinging has "cooldowns" nowadays

literally every possible issue with qol/communication features splatoon just cut entirely has already been solved in other games

You are right, forgot about that. I think using the game pad to ping and draw an arrow would be a decent way to solve communication in certain situations. Especially turf war where sometimes team members have no map awareness and won't fall back to defend.

Yup that's exactly what I mentioned a few days ago too, specifically drawing just a limited length arrow would be perfect. Enough to communicate simple plans in the heat of battle but doesn't let people draw dicks all over the map (unless they coordinate perfectly)

So who's still trying to find their Ideal Weapon/Playstyle?

I've gone: Jet Squelcher - Aerospray MG - Dual Squelcher - N-Zapper '85 and I am almost sure that I want to stick with this gun for now due to it's speed and the Echolocator attached, but i'm not sure if I can get anything past 600 points on it regularly so I might be letting the team down.

And my playstyle for now is trying to just swim around the battlefield ambushing the enemy, but I also am unsure of if I even do that well or if I am even helping the team at all haha!

Has anyone settled on their role in the game?

I've scores sub 500 a couple of times. Once because the opposition were awesome and kept us penned in all game. Must've died 12 times or something. And a few times when I've decided to play sniper or to hold a certain area. Or if my 5 year old plays :D

Im still finding the splattershot jr as my weapon of choice. I love the splat bombs and swimming right up to enemy ink then bubbling to take them out is my favourite strategy atm. Also good for ranked because you can bubble your team before a splat zone onslaught.

I've have the extended battery for like over a year now I think and damn, does it feel like it's drained over the year.

I felt like I put it down for 10 minutes in between a match and it flashed red and died without me knowing.

Lucky I don't mind leaving it on charge forever heh.
