Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

From my experience using a Charger on ranked breaks the whole mode. For most parts it's so easy to predict enemy movement when you know where they're going for. Not that I have tried any other weapons.

Im being matched with people that run a lot when they see the laser pointer. I was doing over 10 kills before I hit B rank. I think I need some attack gear so I dont have to fully charge it to splat people

The matchmaking is really bad. I don't think I've played any other Nintendo game with such a bad matchmaking. I mean, I was paired with B+ people when I was C or almost always there are 5-6 level 20 people while I'm level 15.

Disconnects are really starting to piss me off...they seem to be getting worse and it's really hard to make progress when I get disconnected every other match

Any tips? I put my Wii U on DMZ to no avail.

I'm on a wired connection, and I played a few hours today without any connection issues at all and no disconnects by team members. I saw one lagging enemy in all the matches.

I think we need a full story of how long the dude was there. I was watching an A+ rank stream and each time he exited and entered, he'd always get a full, at least, A- lobby.

Any tips for a kep charger in splatzones Urchin Underpass? I tend to underperform greatly here. There are no safe camping zones and it's difficult to advance to the center once you've lost it.

It's even worse when your teammates start going to the center to die one by one instead waiting for the rest to make a push.
Like Sendou said, you have to be mobile in Urchin Underpass -- moreso than all the other maps, I think. If you stick to the vantage point with the grate you can get blown up pretty bad. The hallway to the middle has small boxes you can stand on if you want another point to snipe at.

I usually just stay mobile and in the middle though, if the team is doing a decent job harassing me at sniping points.

If you had to wait a long time it tried to find a game more in your grade but stuck you into that B+ room instead of making you wait more.

But the borders where it does this are a bit unclear. I think it tries to put same grades and level 1-10 and level 11-20 into separate pools.

Finally got a chance to play the game. Like others said, so addictive. I was afraid it would be really expensive to buy stuff but it looks like it won't be a problem.

Damage up gear + splatterscope yo

Also, level means nothing.

I thought the missing songs in the music player would open up after completing the other Amiibo challenges. Turns out that wasn't the case. There seems to be 3 songs which can't be played.

Can't wait to hear those tunes

I can definitely tell there's some kind of matchmaking going on for turf wars; most of my matches now are full of people in double digit levels, and the single digit levels are never like level 1 or something. The only time I got in a game where everyone was leveled way higher than me was when I joined a gaf room

I don't think so, I think it's because sales were front loaded, so there will be substantially fewer low levels.

I'm on a wired connection as well, that's the thing. I have no problems with other Wii U games like Smash. It's really strange but killing my desire to play more... :(

Regular Battle - 4v4 paint-the-most-area battle. The mode we all know since its reveal. Online only.
Splat Zones - 4v4 mode where teams must conquer and hold one or two specific common areas in the map for 100 seconds. Online only and is the ranked mode in the game.
Battle Dojo - 1v1 local multiplayer only mode where you pop the most balloons in a map.
Single Player - a 27-stage game where you rescue zapfishes to restore the power source of Inkopolis. Plays like a third person shooter adventure game with platforming and painting mechanics of Splatoon.

For all multiplayer modes, the time limit is fixed. As for maps, the game currently has 6 maps for both the regular battle and splat zones. More are promised to come at later dates. Additional modes are also coming plus additional weapons and clothing.

As for being tactical, yes this game is tactical to the core. Just ask the players here. :p

Thank you very much. My big concern is time limit but that is probably just how the game is meant to be played.

It probably will do.

If I'm honest it just looks like the Splat Zones version of the roller. People complain about the roller being bad in splat zones and this looks like it does what a roller does in splat zones but better. Especially with the specials it has.
The rollers aren't bad in Splat Zoned.

Jesus Christ this final boss. I almost had him. I didn't even know you could get kicked from a level after enough deaths until now, and now I have to do it again.

Might have to try wired. Some routers are not compatible with the Wii U or call Nintendo support. They have helped others with Splatoon disconnects.

I just whooped a group of mostly Level 20 Japanese players an hour ago, and i'm level 13 (and by whooped i mean i came in first for my team). Oh and i'm C-.

Now I never have to change my playing style!

Ink-Brush: Ranked mode

Krak-on Roller: Turf War

It'll be fun seeing so many rollers again for a bit. If only because it'll be free kills.

The roller life 'tis a burdensome one. A squid learns how to survive by deceptive tactics.

There's definitely a hidden ELO ranking going on in regular. No doubt in my mind. Go create a new account and see how ridiculously easy the room is. Then when you carry and win 4-5 games straight, your level 3 guy will be in with level 10's. Tank with a new character for 4-5 games and you'll still be in with the 1-5's.

How many times I have been killed from a Japanese player today with an inkzooka / sniper when I visibly see the shot came after I took cover behind a solid object. And you can see the trajectory of the shot was clearly not anywhere near me.

I'm convinced that I see Japanese players 0.5 seconds in the past, it's just not fun to play.

Yesterday's play session left my thumb hurting bad. Around the joint area, which has never happened before. I thought it'd be ok today but it still hurts a lot to do anything.

Has anyone had this before? Any medical tips? It's killing me :/

Blaming the stupid Gamepad on this

you can't do certain challenges until you beat the campaign I believe. The end of each batch of challenges ends with a boss from the campaign. Also, the slant of the squid figure shouldn't be there unless there's something off in the packaging but I'm not super sure. I'm looking at my squid right now and he's basically upright like your other one.

Thanks. Even accounting for positioning though, the figure seems slanted.

What weapons are useful in Splat Zones?

I feel that the aerospray is too weak and slow to take out someone quickly and then move away ASAP

Depends entirely what role you're going for. Charger is great for taking a defensive role but depending on which one you go with it can be just as good for approaches (regular Splatcharger with the Ink Bombs are decent at capping zones). The AeroSpray isn't the most adept at taking out enemies but it's great for capping zones and depending on how you approach certain enemies it's still good for splatting. The RG is probably the best version for Splat Zones.

Yes, don't play.

You have to give it a few days rest. It's not a joke if it hurts. Do some exercises.

Tried a few more matches this morning. Went MUUCCCHHH better connection-wise. First match, still had that bit of lag, but lasted the match. 2 more had connection problems, but then the next 2 went fine & even won my first match via the Paint Roller.

........so how many levels until I can unlock the N-Zap85?

Thanks, I guess that finding a high ground a splatting inklings until my I use my special bomb invasion on the field would be a good tactic.

And if I want to go full Rambo? Any recommendations?

.52 Gal Deco, Blaster or .92 Gal. Granted they're not the most optimal for capping so those are best suited for being on the offensive and taking out enemies.

Oh wow, thanks for sharing. I guess I should do the exercises after my thumb stops hurting. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be better, as of right now it really hurts.

I'm guessing applying ice in the mean time would be a good idea. I suppose I was doing a lot more force due to the gamepad's size.

Cool.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, COMMUNICATIONS ERROR JUST AS I WAS GONNA GET 1000P FOR WINNING A MATCH UUGGGHHH

Edit: OH THANK GOD, I noticed that I still got them. That would've been HUGE bullcrap. Literally 1 point away from reaching Level 4, then I can FINALLY customize my Inkling.

There's usually some delay playing with Japanese players, so I only play in a time when most Japanese players are at work/school etc. It is 10 pm in Japan right now, so no Splatoon with randoms for me atm.

I had a good session last night. Got through the third area in SP, got the Aerospray and started doing really well in Turf Wars scoring 900-1200 most games and finished after hitting level 14. I didn't play any ranked, may not get back to that much until I hit 20. I'm not as fond of the game mode, and have a hard time justifying playing a mode I have less fun with and get no experience or cash when my team loses when I still have a bunch of leveling up to do and gear to buy.

so yesterday in ranked I was using the blaster and there was another blaster on my team. immediately at the start of the match I go into squid form because I knew ink would be laid down. then I jump out and shoot a line and the other blaster on my team locks in with me. we start perfectly alternating between him squidding and me in the air shooting an ink line and then me plopping into the ink in squid form and him jumping in the air to shoot an ink line. it was beautiful. I think he had opening gambit on his hat too because we were perfectly in sync going at the same speed.

Synchronized squidding nice.

Now I'm usually annoyed when I'm competing with my squid mates to rush out the base. Collisions sometimes throws me off my path.
