First time posting in the thread after my account got approved.
Just reached Science King. It was a terrible start to the splatfest was only at +4 vibe by the time I reached champion and took a break. Then just went on a tear and finished with +18 with a string of good teams (was really lucky as I kept disconnecting my team in the lobby after 5-6 games)

Welcome to NeoGAF, man. And congrats on making Science King. Though I'm not sure if Team Science will win on account of both how much Team Art was winning & how many people are on Team Art.

I had the complete opposite. Had a kickin' team to start, but it petered out today and I saw mostly lackluster play. It seems all the good players are back for a final hurrah if you want some more wins!

I grinded my vibe and it dropped to a low of 14.0 but I managed to turn it around to finish with 28.0 AND to top it off I hit level 50 too. Feels good man.

Everyone on my team disconnected but me....
I really wasn't feeling this Fest. I think Science got swept. Art's gonna take the popular and win rate.

For the record, I was only at 9 in the vibe meter when I hit Science Queen. Played for the last hour of splatfest and brought it back up to 17.5 or 18.5 thanks to a run of good teams.
What a miserable splatfest. But the last game was pretty exciting. Almost lost it due to a combination of getting jumped by two rollers at once and then afterwards running out of ink trying to kill an aerospray, but escaping a roller's splash thanks to RNGesus smiling on me and making its ink spread completely miss me and killing her at the very last split second (it felt like the "Splatted [name]!" message came up after the end of game screen) covered enough ground to give us the percentage to win.

One hour after the end of splatfest
So my highest vibe was +46, and my final vibe ended up at... 43 because of an intentional feed and a 3v4 in my last two rounds. So close, yet so, so far.
The last game was the first and probably only time squid kidding has ever bothered me. Usually I laugh at it, but the round started a 3v4, and ALL four of the enemies SK'd us on kills. I managed to team wipe them in the end and we brought the round within 1%, but it just wasn't enough. They sucked, really, but 3v4 off the bat is a difficult task to undertake.
I really don't see Science winning after today. In popularity we definitely lost, and I have a feeling the winning was maybe 55/45 at best. It's all anecdotal, and I'd love to be wrong but I swear man... So many 3v4's, feeders, rage quits, obvious kids, and generally bad play. My worst Splatfest experience out of the three.
Also I rarely landed Hammerhead Bridge, and that sucks. I love that map.
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE: Despite being the worst, it was still fun for the most part. Just a case of "the one bad apple" is all. I don't play Turf Wars nearly enough, but with Splatfest's visuals and music (I never grow tired of the music) it makes it really fun.
Then, I also made it to Level 47, and broke 1.1 million cash.
Looking forward to the next; hoping for something Halloween themed in the US!

Squidbagging/squidkidding isn't even the best insult anymore. The current meta is all about Hi-Five taunting your foes. Kill someone in a stylish way? Get that hand up in the air and walk around in circles! Bonus points if two teammates hi-five each other by walking at each other.
How do you Hi-Five, you say? Simply hold down the Sub fire button (If you're not using Ink Mines), and just walk around with your hand in the air. It's become a thing in the SplatGAF discord rooms now; not sure who started it, but it's addictive and amusing.
Still, it's nice that they added you as a friend though.

Weird Splatfest.
I honestly had trouble picking a side. At first I immediately chose science because I hate art. I cant appreciate paintings at all. As I thought about it I realized while art's my worst subject, second is Biology, my major. I'm more of a math, social sciences and literature guy.
I also began to interpret art as including other forms of expression like video, music and writing. I mean that is the logical contrast to science. Not simply images.
So I pick art also become I thought a lot less people would pick it. People love to talk about "science" in a weird pop-culture kind of way nowadays and how many people draw?
Yet this is the first splatfest I fought against my own team. Could art be more popular?
I have no idea who won. I was surprised about the number of players I saw below 20 though.
Hammerhead is still weird. While I loved Flounder Heights from the beginning this one still feels off.
Ultimately I was a Champion of 19/99 in level. I went to King one Splatfest but since then it's hard to convince yourself to score more than the amount of points you just earned for a fraction of sea snails. Especially since there's no end for Splatfests in sight.

Why in the love of all creation do people STILL SUPERJUMP INTO DEATH!? I escort the RM and we get ambushed / Zooka'd after a good push. Suddenly both other players jump to us. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?? Even if we survived you wouldn't help by bunching all of us together because we'd just be body blocking each other's shots. Let me support the RM, you guys cut off the enemy or create escape paths.
And heaven forbid there be a roller or a sniper on the other team because I am literally the only one that can take them out without trading every time. Everyone else is all "I will block this ink with my face!! They'll never see it coming!"
I'm only doing it if I have time to squad from now on. If people were going to figure out how to play this mode they would've by now. Out.
And I totally called it. Science played like hot garbage. Yes, 49% is hot garbage in my book.

Yep, this is closest one we've had by far.
The first Splatfest I lost :'(
I had a feeling that Science was going to lose. Wasn't getting really good games early on. Only near the end did was I able to get consistent wins

Like I just said in discord, just choose the opposite team I choose and that's the winning one. I'm 1/5 in splatfests and that won't change soon XD
The worst part is I'm sure science could have had the higher win score if the game wouldn't keep disconnecting good teams in the lobby. I probably lost like 40% of all the games I played this splatfest and it was thanks to constantly having to find new teams and discovering how bad they could be

Don't go through my posts from the Transformers Splatfest then, it took me almost 5 hours to get to defender because of disconnects alone.

This is what was happening to me as well. Wherever I got a good team, I would get disconnected from them at the lobby
This. Like, the comm errors today were like no other. I hate to be a broken record with half of my posts being about this in the past few pages but I'm just not used to it.
Oh no wonder, this was the one Splatfest I barely played. Only got to defender or something.
Over 50% of my losses were from (teammate) disconnects. Us three alone probably had a good thirty extra wins had the playing field stayed connected. Nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I'm sure we could have at least 50/50'd on Wins. I don't recall seeing any Artist complaining about disconnects.
I must be mad salty to be rationalizing things like this, lol.
