I always liked Tower Control, but it was always missing something for me. I never enjoyed it as much as I wanted to. Rainmaker seems to get it right. They have comparable objectives; paving a path into the enemy base and escorting an object into it, but Rainmaker offers more mobility and freedom to do that. Its really great. Its much more exciting, sorry tower control.

I see a lot more people stacking defense up and run speed or swim speed in Rainmaker. Seems to be a decent idea I guess, weapon abilities won't make a difference for you when carrying the Rainmaker. Looking around the web defense up seems to be a negligible increase? Most people who need it (52 gal and whatever else) seem to run with damage up anyway

I'm getting confused at people saying Splatoon has a "huge install base" and "so many players"

Weren't these the same people before who were saying that nobody would buy the game because nobody owns a Wii U? When did it transition from that to "the game is so huge that ~this idea~ is justified!"

Something tells me most of them calling for direct mode pick don't actually own the game.

It mostly bugs me how many flat out don't understand that there is no "boring" mode to fall as the sacrifice to a direct pick system. I've seen in these threads alone that every mode has a number of people who like one over the rest. But in a direct pick, they're just being ignored; out of luck. Rotation can suck if there's nothing you like in a day, but at least you have a chance of your favorite mode coming in and being populated for the entirety of the time.

I wonder if the people asking for it would still want it if the mode they wanted to choose turns out to be an unpopular one, and then they start complaining that the matchmaking sucks because it takes ages to get into a game.

This really is the best of both worlds, there are always players available and the available mode is always going to appeal to SOMEONE.

yeah I hate calling people out for not playing the game (and generally don't because it doesn't accomplish anything) but at a certain point it just gets nutty. people doubling down on their "options are always good" mentality in the face of people who actually have a lot of experience with the game who are giving perfectly reasonable justifications for why something may or may not work.

hopefully Nintendo's next console is more successful than the Wii U so Spla2n will be afforded the opportunity to spread it's tentacles a bit in regards to its feature-set

As someone who can only really play during a single rotation on week days, let me just say that I really dislike the current system. There was a two week period where every time I sat down to play I was stuck with Kelp Dome Tower Control. I am so sick of Kelp Dome Tower Control.

I didn't buy this game to not play it ever because I frequently get unlucky with what's in rotation.

Dont bother with dumb, short sighted people who can't think two minutes about why a decision has been made. They just want stuff to be as they want them to be, with no regard for reason or logic.

Finally reached A rank after middling in A- all day, usually getting 1 game away from ranking up only to hit a losing streak

That tier list in making me feel guilty about stating that I think the .96 Gal Deco is becoming my new main in Ranked Mode. Since it was Splat Zones earlier today, I thought I'd jump in with the Dual Squelcher, but kept getting picked off by all the Gals running around. The Splash Wall and Kraken combo is a good defensive setup that keeps you alive way longer than you probably should be. It really excels in Tower Control, in particular.

Spending this week making the tedious climb through the ranks. I didn't play as much Ranked in the past because I found it kind of frustrating and stressful, but am finally buckling down and doing it. Have moved up from B to A- so far. B+ was kind of a slog, since it kept bringing in S and S+ rank players into the room, for some reason.

trying to make tier lists without matchmaking statistics is foolish. But there is no way the classic squiffer is in the same tier as the aerospray mg.

I think it's foolish to make a full blown one like that, but there are a number of weapons that are obviously better (or worse) than the rest. In which case I'd just use the term imbalanced.

I really wish there was a MVP designation or something in this game. I can score twice what anyone else does in a game, but it doesn't mean anything point wise.

It means you helped your team win and that's why your team won and hence you got the points from winning. It also means you're more likely to win your games while everyone else in your team is less likely to win your games thus you should get more points in the long run.
