Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is probably top 10 games ever made right?

Gay porn is where it's at.
so the splinter cell games are on sale on steam, so i figured might as well grab one of them for $3. my experience with splinter cell games is very limited, i remember playing one on the OG xbox back in the day and dropping it because i found it way too hard(i think it was pandora tomorrow? honestly can't remember) anyways, decided to go with chaos theory, as it is the most beloved one by far from the fans.

fast forward 5 hours later and my mind is blown. how the fuck did they make this game back in 2005?

starting off, I swear mouse wheel control of movement is the most genius thing I've seen in stealth action games, why more games don't copy it?
second off all, iam blown the fuck away with how many options they give you to finish a level, It's ridiculous the amount of ways you can solve situations. In fact, simply killing every guard and going straight to the objective almost feels like a waste, the game is begging you to be creative and try to fool the guards. How the hell did we go from that to the usual "detective vision" that every game under the sun now has now? The mission variety is very good, from military bases to traditional japanese buildings. I liked how every level has its own little twist, like an abundance of cameras or maybe candles that can't just be shot out.
the soundtrack..ohh my days the soundtrack...this is probably one of the best OSTs ever put in a game imo, they did not need to go this hard on the soundtrack of a stealth game. but they did

all in all, this is a masterpiece in very sense of the word. it aged like fine wine. i cannot wait to play more of this

The only gaming series I completed all the titles. I don't know where to start. You need patience to get through them for sure. Probably in the top ten for me on a good day.

It was the best splinter cell game but not top 5 ever. The original Xbox verison looked incredible at the time. Like a 360 game at lower resolution.

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy
Visually Chaos Theory was a tour de force when it released back in 2005. They really nailed the tech back then, back when Ubilol actually still gave a damn on setting benchmarks.

I look at Shadows now and visually it looks like we are going backwards. Why are Unity and Syndicate far better looking at this?

if he talks about books, you better damn well listen
It's an incredible game that's aged very well, for sure, and there's little prospect of anything similar coming out anytime soon. Ubisoft no longer seems to be in a state where they're going to invest heavily in a level-based pure stealth game; we'll get something open-world with stealth as an option, if that, and while it could be good, it won't be like Chaos Theory.

However, consider playing the original Xbox version of Double Agent (this is a different game than the 360/PC Double Agent). It's not as revelatory as Chaos Theory, but it's in the same vein, and still quite good.

Oof, top 10 idk... That game is peak Ubisoft though. I had the OG Xbox version but never finished it back then. Eventually grabbed the PS3 remasters and finished it there. It's a masterclass in game design and probably the best game they (Ubisoft) ever made.

Not super related but if you enjoyed this and want more peak Ubisoft look for the original Prince of Persia trilogy. Different type of games but they're great.

The PoP metroidvania from last year is also fantastic

It's a great game. Not neat of all time but best splinter cell for sure.

I'll answer your question though as it seems mean people only read headlines with the one word responses in here.

Stealth in splinter cell hasn't been the same since Gen 6. Why because ubisoft abandoned light and dark in favor of pure action. They thought dark rooms wasn't showing off the new "wiz bang HD graphics of the 360/ps3". So they gave us double agent with 2 different versions. One on the og xbox/ps2/gc with light and dark play. The other with some but a lot of daylight levels and shorter game. 2 different games entirely.

Then the abandoned it completely for action with splinter cell conviction wanting a more spy thriller (I guess you could call it that? Haven't really played it much) where writing is on the wall. It's ridiculous and breaks immersion.

Stealth like of splinter cell and theif games are now nowhere to be found. So I'd recommended going back to play the other sc games, they aren't chaos theory but still good.

Pandora Tomorrow's Spies vs Mercs destroys Chaos theory's
For multiplayer, I'll take your word on it. Never played any sc game multiplayer knly the single player goodness.

Whats crazy is you can't even buy Pandora tomorrow on steam or from ubisoft store. It's nowhere. I am lucky I still have my disk. I also got it on disc for my series x. Fing ubisoft and Microsoft delisted SC 1 and Pandora, so if you don't have the disc's you are shit out of luck.

There's gotta be a way to emulate it. I will say Chaos Theory probably has the better campaign. And it has the co-op option.
