I imagine that with the amount of droids in that universe, they all share some basic rudimentary programmed language that everyone knows. Really, it's not something that needs to be explained. It's something you just accept cause it makes the droids cooler in this swashbuckling space fantasy.

All current signs point to "probably." Which is probably why Luke went away...couldn't take the failure. Probably ashamed as an uncle too...let down his sister and Han.

Stormtroopers were definitely shown to be a more credible threat and to be feared more in this movie. Maybe because it is PG-13?
I like that
Thank you! So annoying that the cinema is throwing the OV out so fast :/!I really liked the dub, although a few minor things (like the Kessel run) always sound a bit funny in German. I think others from DeutschGAF were less enthusiastic about it though.

Not "probably", they explicitly say that's the case in the movie. All current signs point to "probably." Which is probably why Luke went away...couldn't take the failure. Probably ashamed as an uncle too...let down his sister and Han.
What's funny is I thought it looked like they were showing that they were clones, until Finns line about being taken away as a baby.well, it's cause they aren't clones and are actual people this time.
Yes. They state it in the movie and it's a major plot point. That's why Luke gave up and disappeared.

not if this is the outline of the lighter.
see, only the front part has to be this big and circular, because it's where the hinge sits.
The part behind that can be thin to save space.
Episode III (so underatted, Anakin's fall and duel with Obi Wan were handled so well)
An apprentice, yes. His heir/apprentice/padawan, maybe. Because Leia says "That's why I wanted him to train with Luke" and talked about sending him away...I'm just more confused as to how Rey was involved. Because she had the dream of the ocean/islands (Ren pulls it out of her when he's in her head) and how that relates to Luke, and how in a flashback she sees the Knights of Ren murdering all the apprentices at Skywalker's academy. If she was present in either of those places, that would be very strange.
Only nitpick was Leia's botoxes face.
well, it's cause they aren't clones and are actual people this time.
Stormtroopers in original trilogy are not cloneswell, it's cause they aren't clones and are actual people this time.
yes. And somehow Maz Kanata got hold of it. How, when, why? "That's a story for another time" (- Maz Kanata, The Force Awakens, 2015)
I could have sworn that they say in the movie that Kylo Ren was an apprentice of Luke, and that's why he disappeared after. If not, it was so heavily implied that my brain just made me think they stated it directly.
Yeah definitely seems like some Captain Phasma stuff got left on the cutting room floor.
how can Luke be Rey's father if she doesn't even recognizes him as a father?
how can Han and Leia be Rey's parents if she doesn't even recognizes them as her parents?
she has been marking down the days since she was abandoned, she knows their faces.
when she see Luke, she doesn't go "fuck you Dad, why did you abandon me?", no she goes "wow, it is the great Jedi Knight, Luke Skywalker!!!!"
I loved how when Finn and Ren first meet, both are wearing masks. Then, in the finale, both are face to face. Clever little touch.
Captain Phasma was turned into the Johnny Sasaki of Star Wars in this movie. They might as well have a scene in the next movie where she goes to confront the heroes but flees because she has explosive diarrhea.

And I didn't think Carrie gave it her all. She's never been great but as I suspected she was there to fill a necessary hole. She wasn't bad and I'm glad she's there as it would've felt jarring otherwise but I suppose that's the tradeoff.
What's funny is I thought it looked like they were showing that they were clones, until Finns line about being taken away as a baby.
The info about what happened at Luke's temple is kinda spread out.
Han mentions Luke going into self-imposed exile after a student betrayed him and wiped out his other students. We don't know at the time, but Han's talking about his kid.
Then Rey has her vision, and we see Kylo standing in the rain around a bunch of dead bodies.
Then Leia, in that conversation with Han, mentions them realizing their son was breaking bad, and sending him to Luke in the hopes Luke could reverse it.
So basically: Han & Leia notice Ben is too Vader-ish for his own good, send him to Luke. Luke tries training him, but Ben goes south anyway, and falls in with Snoke, joining (and apparently quickly LEADING) the Knights of Ren. One night they slaughter everyone at Luke's school. Luke can't take this, and bails out.
They put the dots out there in the movie, but they don't connect them very clearly.
i think in that same scene, ren is saying "maybe we should just switch back to clones" or whatever

Honestly, my favorite returning character from the OT was the gunner station on the Millenium Falcon.
According to what I can gather
Prequels - Clones
Post-prequels to OT - Not Clones - recruited. (still dunno the reason to that. I just know that's the case. Care to fill me in SW GAF?)
Right now - born and raised treatment
Storm troopers were never clones. While some clone troopers became storm troopersthey were not a clone army.and one became an emperors guard - Lords of the Sith book
