Spring 2014 Anime |OT2| about as likely as a second season of Hyouka

You'll want to come back next week, then.

Where is the anime right now?
Should be after the
Chimera-Arc
, aye? If so, the part after that,
the election
is taking not so long and is pretty good. But after that you should take a break.

THEY PLAYED US LIKE A FIDDLE.

No seriously this episode was fucking unnecessary and no shit can ever be said about Attack on Titan and bad pacing. It was ridiculous before, but this episode and last cemented it for me. Good thing is about to end.

Everybody watching Clannad and nobody watches GTO.

:'(

Hmmm, Woofington have you seen Black Jack?

Because I've been planning on doing a watchbet with someone to see this show.

It's like, 61 episodes or so and purely episodic, but it's soooo gooood. I'll watch GTO (and another show of your choosing, since GTO is apparently 43 episodes) if you watch Black Jack.

Why do that?
I'm interested in doing an experiment. lol

I dropped SAO1 after the first game and hate it with all my soul. I hate it so hard, I boycott the hentai doujinshis.
The porn line is the last line!

The show?
K-on is better.
I can't keep up with K-on gaf though. Too many moe gifs.

I'll listen to your SAO2 podcast. :)
K-ON GAF is a frightening place. lol

Also, I'd need someone else willing to do it to want to commit to it. lol

you know what? why the fuck not. Let's do this. Apparently I'll have to do watch bets to get people to watch GTO. Sounds interesting too, in that anime sort of way. You have a deal.

You can watch GTO and... hmmm what's a good short show... have you watched Baccano?

edit: can't promise I'll be watching it religiously since my weekends for the summer will be busy for the most part, but sundays I can probably get a lot of episodes in and weekdays they should be freeing up after this week.

EDIT: no I haven't seen Baccano.

I don't think anyone will have a choice about taking a break after the
election
arc. I think at that point the anime will be over.
Maybe they try to keep Togashi working and have the show and the manga go almost parallel.

K-ON GAF is a frightening place. lol
The people are nice and positive there.
But I do like you guys in Love Live GAF better.

The new arc was announced 3 weeks ago, it’s almost over, for sure!
I didn't say that ;__;
I don't know if Woofington wants to be me :D

edit: oh you already edit. curses!

Honestly I have no idea how you can consider this week's episode unnecessary in any way. It contained a massive turning point for multiple central antagonists of the arc, and even included the death of one of them.

I mean, if you don't like this arc, that's your opinion and you're free to hold it, no matter how much it makes me shake my head. But to claim that this episode wasn't relevant just seems bizarre.

Then deal. You get to watch Baccano and GTO, two of my top 10 animes and I'll watch Black Jack.

Should've specified that it was unnecessary in its time. This same info could've been done faster, alongside many other episodes. They've been padding shit like frozen faces and back and forth zoom in on a character's face as they talk and then the narrator is all "let me explain some shit" for a while now. Could be done much faster but I guess they gotta squeeze in some more episodes.

Can I start with Baccano?

Because I read the plot summary and "Flying Pussyfoot" is the best name for a train that I've ever heard.

Yes you may. It's a shorter show, make sure you watch the OVA's. I think it's like 17 episodes total with the OVA's, but don't quote me on that. If you watched Samurai Flamenco, this show was the reason people were hyped for Samumenco since it came from the same director (I believe)

a) Keeping Togashi working is horribly unrealistic.
b) Even if the Hunter x Hunter manga were by some miracle to run continuously from this moment forth, continuing the anime when it's practically caught up would only result in awful pacing and/or filler content, benefiting nobody. The last thing Hunter x Hunter needs is to sink to the level of your average endless shonen anime.

Maybe. I mean I've already put myself down for making the thread.
Let's do this!

What's so scary about it?
I think the lack of any new K-ON properties makes me wonder what people talk about that an outsider can join in on. Like with Love Live, at least people can talk about how many tears they've shed based on their empty wallets. lol

The people are nice and positive there.
But I do like you guys in Love Live GAF better.
I know, I idle in the K-ON Gaf IRC. lol

Also Nintendoman, Baccano has a great dub and sub, it's all up to you. Dub has great brooklyn accents, but sub has fantastic engrish when they say "Frying Poosyfuta" and "Carol". So I guess it's what you tend to prefer.

Courtesy of Catsuka, Masaaki Yuasa and Eunyoung Choi have just announced the opening of a new anime studio together, called Science Saru.

The logo, amusingly, is made from the monkey in Kemonozume.

They have a website up here but everything is password protected so there's not much to say really.

Doomed vanity project or exciting Mappa-esque startup? I hope for the latter!

Considering the chapter it adapted was basically pages filled with words, they did a pretty good job.

This opinion is awful and you should feel awful. Dissing Nise and Neko Black I could just about understand, but hating on Bake is just...no.

Also your opinion makes no sense. You seem to be saying that Second Season is better because the four-five episode arc length is short, but that's actually long compared to Bake, where the longest arc was five episodes and the majority were two-three.

In fact, there are only two arcs in the entire Monogatari series that ran for longer than five episodes - Karen Bee in Nise at seven, and Hitagi End at six in Second Season. Four-five episodes per arc is pretty damn average for Monogatari, so I have no idea how you think it somehow sets Second Season apart.

Yeah, Onimonogatari didn't get an OP in the TV airing (though it did on the disc release). Chariot was probably thinking of the Kabukimonogatari OP (because with Mayoi's arc featuring almost nothing but Shinobu and Shinobu's arc ultimately revolving around Mayoi, it's pretty damn easy to get those two confused =p)

It's a long time watching Bake but I remember not having too fond memories of it, especially the way it ended I think. Hachikuji was just annoying. Neither of these girls' stories were interesting to me in Bake but they're all awesome in S2. They also look way cuter with their new hairstyles lol.

Any word on bluray for S2 in the west?

So, I honestly had my reservations about Gintama' after the amazing first 201 episodes of... Gintama, but Gintama': Enchousen or Season 6 or whatever the fuck it's called was a true return to form. The 13 episodes were true Gintama perfection: ie the amazing blend of gut-splitting funny, heart-wrenchingly sad induced feels, and over the top shonen serious/action. Definitely the best way to send the series off.

Now if you don't mind me, I'm going to go cry now that it's all over.

Did you watch the Gundam final movie too?

This is seriously great news! Hopefully this means that Yuasa will be able to produce more work faster. Also, I'd love to see Eunyoung Choi direct a series by herself. I was very impressed with her episode of Space Dandy. I wish for the best for them!

On a different note, I just finished episode 75 of Hunter x Hunter after 11 days. Is episode 76 onward seriously just one arc? It better be good, because I didn't really like most of Greed Island. Felt like a big step down from the Yorknew City arc, which was really exciting and kept me glued to the screen.

I remember the days when anime gaf used to hate SAO. Now were making special podcasts for it and wildly anticipating the first episode with feverish excitement.

I climbed aboard the SAO hype train as soon as I realised how good the original was.

I'm more hyped for the game and Log Horizon 2.

Log Horizon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SAO

They've already started to be released in North America by Aniplex. They're being sold arc by arc. Nekomonogatari Black and White are already out as separate sets, and Onimonogatari releases in August.

Ah milking it all out :p
Hope some word on PAL release otherwise I need to buy a US PS3 for those blurays.

Well this is disappointing. FUNimation is officially doing DVD-only S.A.V.E. editions for both Baka & Test season one, two, and the OVAs.

Season 1
Season 2 w/ OVAs

I really hope future S.A.V.E. editions aren't going to be DVD-only releases. There was not even a chance to get Baka & Test season two after the limited edition went OOP. I can only hope the Blu-ray editions are being delayed because of an unannounced Japanese BD-box.

The Catsuka article has a little more to say. Science Saru worked on Yuasa's Adventure Time episode "Food Chain", assisted him in the last Crayon Shin-chan film, and are also credited for Flash animation in just about every episode of Ping Pong, so they're hard at work already.

I'm sure someone in the UK will pick up the second series eventually. The rest of it has been released there, so it's just a matter of time.

I certainly hope that Funimation wouldn't cheap out that much. Maybe they just didn't renew the Blu-Ray rights? Who knows.

In other news, they're adding Steins;Gate to the anime classics line! I ought to go pick it up when it releases.

Gurren Lagann 13

Yeahhhhhhhh....

I am always impressed with the fights in this show. This episode is no exception. I loved how
Gurren Lagann was able to basically attach another enemy gunman to itself so it could fly
. Virol (or whatever his name is) interestingly enough seems to be
upset about Kamina's death but equally confused about how Simon can take him on
. Looks like he was about to be told something important so I look forward to seeing what they have in store for this character next episode.

I certainly would hope so. The first season regular edition and OVA collection combo-packs are still in print as far as I know, but now there's no Blu-ray option for season two without buying from third-parties. I can only hope the Japanese license holders may be planning a BD-box for the complete series. With this now in the S.A.V.E. line though, we may never see the Blu-rays in-print again from FUNimation.

With Steins;Gate anime classics release, I noticed that four Blu-rays are being used instead of three. Wouldn't the Blu-rays be re-authored for the complete collection in order to have an 8-8-9 episode spread instead of 9-3 and 9-4, or however FUNimation decided to split the episodes with the half-sets?

Almost three weeks without being able to watch anime, and now I I have 5 free days, joy. So glad to be back.

I have so much stuff to watch that I don't know where to begin but I think it will HxH as I let it in 131 and I'm really curious about what happens.

How has been everything around here?

I knew it. Tatsuya would be the main reason they were saved. And then there was a kind of weak hot springs scene. I think we can say that Tatsuya is the Batman of this world.

The way I see it, there's two possibilities:

1: They're just using excess stock of the half-set discs for the anime classics version
2: They re-authored the discs, and added an entire other disc for the extras.

I think it's more likely to be the first, personally.

Amazing news. My friend and I were just gushing about those two specifically yesterday. Also, the Kemonozume monkey is awesome.

I remember watching this show for the first time I almost squealed in delight
when Yoko piloted Gurren for this episode. Because never mind Rossiu. I wanted Yoko to get a mecha, watching this show for the first time.

Also you think
Kamina was a dumbass? Brace yourself because some people are going to completely top him in the idiocy department next episode.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PUSSYWAGON?!?
if you don't get this joke you don't watch Team Four Star's DBZA.

Yo, this OP is groovy yo!

So...I'm kinda confused. This entire story is being told by characters who have absolutely no relation to this story? Or do they?

And it's about people who have these crazy regeneration powers and how they're pissing off some mafia or something?

Ah well, I'll probably figure it out as the story goes on. A weird first episode, but I can't say that I'm not interested.
