Outstanding episode. As always the show is very pretty, top notch animation and backgrounds to go along with great visual direction. There were also some excellent music tracks during the episode, the one used in the cycling scene was particularly great. The use of visuals to complement the evidence discussion and deductions that has been present in the show so far, was ramped up to the max during this episode. There's always something interesting going on visually, whether its sakuga or otherwise. It's very engaging that all the evidence and mysteries are presented in this fashion. It also makes it very easy to follow along with their logic.
With the cast now past the initial setup phase, its interesting to see them in a different setting from the school. In this case they are in the isolated mansion, which means its just them fully carrying the episode. The chemistry that was built between the characters in the prior episodes really comes into play here in episode 4, their interactions within the context of the episode are very enjoyable, often playing off one another throughout the process of presenting their ideas.
You know, this is one of the few times that while watching an anime I'm finding myself wishing it was dubbed. There's just so much happening on screen, between the beautiful animation and backgrounds along with the constant visual storytelling that is used in conjunction with the dialouge during mystery solving scenes. I feel like I am missing out on quite a bit while trying to read the subs.

My Darker Than Black S2+OVA DVDs arrived a few days ago, and I think I'm ready to begin.
I was pretty certain that the OVA comes before S2, but the OVA is marked as disc 3. Halp?

I don't know, up until episode 23, I think I actually prefer the second half. Minene, Yuno and Akise are all at the top of their game. Also, I didn't really care for the Hinata and Co. episodes.
The OVAs came out after S2, but are set before it.
I guess you could say the second half has higher highs and lower lows than the first.

I like Oka's open nature, her contrast to Urabe is making for a decent side character for the show.

I was surprised that Yuuko didn't anticipate her plan will backfire. She has the same name as the ghost and she didn't think an irrational mob will use her as a sacrifice? I was hoping she will be a recurring character and joins the cast after but I'm guessing that won't happen given the ending. Also regarding the cliffhanger, isn't this like the second time they do the same thing?

My main issue with the second half is how anticlimactic the last couple of episodes are. Imo, episode 22 feels like the apex of the series.

Tsubaki was rather polite and formal, as you'd expect. He didn't say "Stay away from me you bitch!", he turned her down in the nicest possible manner. It doesn't really matter that she doesn't know who he was waiting for (although in these cases it is usually a girl), it matters that Tsubaki had a choice, which at one time he would have taken gladly. He rejected the girl that he liked before and Urabe understood that.
The hell? Pineapple's weakness is clearly cantaloupe. Get your facts straight!
