The thing is, Michiko e Hatchin was a fairly solid show throughout it's run (with some notable dips), I don't understand why Lupin is so much worse (beyond the terrible production problems they've run into - which probably explain most things).

Michiko didn't have Koike as chief animation director. I really do think he's the primary person to blame, certainly for the overly long pre-production. There's some issues with the conception of Fujiko and the other characters that Yamamoto is probably at fault for, but I don't think they'd matter as much if the production values were higher.

Tsuritama is fantastic; its last episode was a stellar mid-series climax that brought together the plotlines that had been building over the first five episodes in a satisfying manner. If it can pull off its finale in a similar fashion, it'll be a worthy show to stand alongside Mononoke and Trapeze.

Excellent. I'll prioritize it.

Jormungand and Zetman are meh - the former has poor direction and animation thanks to White Fox, while the latter is too rushed. I haven't watched E7 AO myself, but it seems to be generally liked, despite having ups and downs.

I guess I can dive into the Jormungand manga now. Was putting it off in case the anime was good. Zetman might be worth a read too.

Other than the shows previously mentioned, I'm finding Ayumu Watanabe's two shows, Space Brothers and Mysterious Girlfriend X, and of course the second season of Fate/Zero, which is on another level from everything else, to be very enjoyable so far. I'm also liking Hyouka a great deal, though most around here find it dull.

I actually did have slight interests in Space Brothers and Hyouka. Interesting.

Fate/Zero is a show I'll have to grab in addition to things like Steins;Gate. Both these shows I put off because I wasn't a huge fan of their predecessors.

I dunno I feel Fujikolupin has a lot of the same problems that Hatchin did - mainly that I simply don't care about any of the characters, or situations, despite the style and cool art direction that's going on in every episode.

Saya yamamoto is just a souless person that holds back talented people because of how souless she is!

She's much better suited to being a episode director then a series director imo.

is eureka ao worth watching if i havent seen the original?

Yep, it's not required at all.

Regardless of you feel about the characters, Michiko looked good every (basically) every episode and the direction was actually acceptable, unlike Lupin.

Also, I like the characters of Michiko and Hatchin.

I always find it interesting that in anime even mentioning a third-party company or product by name is verboten but ripping off their trademarked logo is a-okay.

Sengoku Collection 7

There are terrible Sengoku Collection episodes, and there are neat Sengoku Collection episodes. This one was neat.

I can't really say anything bad about it, other than the fact that I can't see how
no one thought cleaning the cafe once in a while would be good for business
. The main character was fun to watch because of the haiku thing. It's interesting to note that, much like many of the figures that have already been portrayed in the series, Matsuo Bashō lived during the Edo period, and not during the Sengoku period.

Next week's episode seems bizarre. I can see the potential.

I guess I can ask you: How is Medaka Box? Yes, I do actually enjoy the manga (I know, I know)

Well it's adapating the manga well. The problem is it's apparently only 12 episodes, which means the only post-genre shift arc they'll get through is the Enforcers one. For many people who believe the series didn't really get good until the Flask Plan arc, it just feels like a waste.

If you like the series pre-genre shift though, by all means check it out. If not, maybe wait for confirmation that there's going to be more.

In the Cowboy Bebop movie they use the ol' fake name of WcDonald's and yet CocaCola is left as is.

Also the Famicom seems to have transcended fakenameness.

Advice taken.

WARNING MANGA SPOILERS: I always thought it was would be a hilariously diabolical idea for Medaka Box to
start as a somewhat high-budget school/slice-of-life show to lure people in (like it does in the manga) and then shift to a low-budget/low-quality 10-year-style anime (like Bleach) when it goes full shounen.

I mean I am watching 18 shows from this season alone, so it can't be all bad. My favorite one isn't even among the ones that were really hyped up.

I thought that number was incredibly high, but then I went to my MAL profile and noticed that I'm watching 22 shows from this season (well, 21 if you don't count Yurumates).

Thank God I have signed a couple of freelance contracts for next month, haha.

What's the point of buying figures if you're not going to take them out of the box?

I see tits, which makes it infinitely better.

I will take them out of the box, but not until I get the right display case for them first.
I dont want these to get dusty. they are quite expensive.

How is AnimeGAf liking E7:Ao, Tusirtama, Zetman and Jormungand?

Tsuritama is excellent.

E7:AO has overall been much better than expected. Some low points, particularly episode 3, but otherwise good stuff.

Latter two are bad. God awful pacing in Zetman killed it for me before I could get into it.

Sure enough, the Steins;Gate movie advert saying it was coming this fall was a mistake, and the release date is still unknown.

It sure took them a long time to correct the mistake.

Damn.

How is AnimeGAf liking E7:Ao, Tusirtama, Zetman and Jormungand?

I haven't watched Eureka Seven AO, but...

tsuritama - After starting somewhat slow and annoying, the show brought character development and became one of this season's best.
Zetman - I've never had any contact with the source material, but I've been watching it. It's really generic, to be honest, but it has some cool sakuga moments.
Jormungand - It looks terrible, but I've been having fun with it - mostly because I like the characters. The manga is probably a better choice, though.

Dezaki is cooler than game music and school  Priorities!
I'll actually have a web presence if I write more reviews and features, though. It's too easy to be overshadowed in the Anime-GAF threads anyway, doubly-so with Jexhius, Duck, and Typo doing a metric-ton of amazing analyses (amongst others).

I'm the Takeshi Koike of anime reviews: they're really-polished—but they take a bit too long!

Wow that was quite a mid-season finale of sorts. A culmination of some plot lines, and opening up to new ones. A very visually energetic episode too. Really looking forward to where the show heads from here.

When Hideki, Chi, and Ms. Shimizu are playing
that "King" game I got a weird sense of déjà vu from a certain Haruhi Suzumiya episode
, as I am watching the dub. The plot thickens with human-Persocom relations.

E7 AO is great. Very similar to the original so far.
.

yea... not seeing this so much
probably AO's strongest point is using actual kid actors for the kids
if that girl was voiced by one of those older girls putting on a 'cute' voice I may have dropped it

im actually not really even sure why the show has Eureka in the title

How is AnimeGAf liking E7:Ao, Tusirtama, Zetman and Jormungand?

As my formal entry into the Eureka Seven franchise, Ao is pretty fun. I actually do look forward to it each week and Ao is a good main character. Took seven episodes but with a recent character introduction Ill probably like it enough to buy on day one.

Tsuritama is tied with Hyouka and Saint Seiya Omega as my favorite one this season. Hilarious, emotional, and stylish.

Zetman feels targeted to older folks interested in the genre, but I like it. Didnt read beyond volume one of the manga but I think it stands well on its own for telling its own take on the story, and the OP is epic.

Jormungand, well Ive treaded the borderland. Dont like the character designs much but gunfights is nice action.

unrequited cousin love.

I've already accepted that we're not going to reach the quality levels of the first four or five episodes anytime soon. Seeing as how Wanko has grown to become my favorite girl in this show however, I was pleased to see that this episode revolved around her.
But of course, hard-working, athletic, well-endowed best girl lusting for the worthless MC and getting shot down was not surprising.

It takes years to accumulate dust but only a second to wipe it away. Think carefully before you clean.

How is AnimeGAf liking E7:Ao, Tusirtama, Zetman and Jormungand?

I kind of have mixed feelings about E7:AO. I don't really like the universe that it takes place in, a lot of the characters are either underdeveloped or unlikable, and it's a bit more animu than the original, but Ao is a great character, the animation is beautiful, and the whole thing is pretty cohesive and well-paced so far. It's certainly worth watching.

Tsuritama has never really connected with me, but I'm in the minority and most here seem to love the bright colors and character interaction. Also worth watching.

I only watched one episode of Zetman and liked it, but the manga experts in the thread seem to say that it's a really poor adaptation of the source material, so I dropped it with the intention of reading the manga at some point.

Jormungand has gotten progressively more boring as it goes on, and I don't particularly like its band of nihilistic assholes and weirdos. It's probably more enjoyable if you love military porn and stories about secret wars ran by profiteers and egomaniacs.

How is AnimeGAf liking E7:Ao, Tusirtama, Zetman and Jormungand?
Tsuritama has been a true black horse and one that has been a fantastic show. The visuals, soundtrack, characters, character development, and setting is all excellent.

Jormugand is probably better read as the manga was probably better drawn. Nothing exceptional in any way and the art is a turn off.

AO is a 180 as I thought it would be a piece of shit and it instead seems to be an excellent addition to the franchise. The music(amazing), animation(for the most part) and characters are good. Most of AO had been very good except for the misstep of episode 3. The thing though with AO that is pissing me off is I don't know how it links with the original.

Why is that gif reversed? And why do people keep using it for congratulating people? Have any of you actually seen Citizen Kane?
That isn't important anymore in the way that .GIF is used. Defining play of light, uptight and resolute movements... recognizably iconic on its own. His face expression could hint what he was forcefully trying to do with that clapping, but that face can represent much more attitudes without knowing the character in question.

Keep in mind that "slow clap" moments used in cinema have also been subverted from this one to break or make the move from those sudden silences after the realization of having witnessed brilliance, instead of the break from apathy this one represents. Context isn't the only thing that makes the image powerful, how someone appropriates of it with a particular use in mind does. Pictures only have the meaning people want from them.

Add to that mimetic currents on a fast moving medium, and you have an evolution on its significance. The truest interpretation of all.

Really slow episode but better than any of the ones that came after episode three and focused on Rea. They were cool as kids. I really dislike Rea and just hope that through some twist of faith Wanko is successful in her endeavor.

Yasutaku needs more screentime.

OP is starting to grow on me, at least the instrumental of it, I dont like the vocals but something about the non vocal portion of it is catchy.

It's trolling in the sense that your making an argument that serves no purpose to counter a position that doesn't exist. What, exactly, is your point in discussing a rather bland looking shot from Kid's on the Slope? I don't really see what your contributions have added to the discussion beyond poking fun at my original post.

..and by that same measure, your original post about that shot from Kids on the Slope served no purpose either. It's not all about you, you know.

I'm also of the same opinion. I think my enjoyment of the OP's instrumentals was due in part to the previews.

Kids on the Slope: Episode 05

It was nice to see some kind of resolution on the Ri'ko stuff.
The episode felt kind of aimless, which I suppose kind of fit with the way Richie was feeling. It touched on a bunch of stuff, and I guess it was a good episode to help round up a few threads and pull them a little closer together.

If you can't love your waifu in 3D, then you never loved her at all.
What if your 3D waifu has a 2D soul?
Acchi Kocchi 1: That was enjoyable. Really enjoyable actually. It tingles that cute and amusing nerve well. The gag timing and general pacing flowed well (it doesn't just feel blatantly like a 4panel comic). It looks quite good too. The show overall feels really familiar somehow. From the colours, designs, backgrounds and even the dot patterned filter on top of the crowd characters (probably one of my more preferred filters). I feel like I've seen bits and pieces of this show in other shows but I can't exactly pinpoint where. The dot pattern in the crowds and some of the patterned backgrounds (particularly those crowds)... I can recall Shaft's works using that a bunch but I feel like there's another show that made large use of it that I can't think of right now. Going to have to look up some of the staffers on this show.

Tsumiki and Io are pretty cute together. The side characters provide the amusement in messing with the pair and are wacky people themselves. The school antics and the arcade trip were fun. If it can keep up this mixture of cute things and amusement I'm definitely down. My favourite cute moment was probably when Tsumiki bumped into Io and sniffed out his identity. The ED is also ridiculously cute too. No wonder cajun has this show on lock.

Strangely this show isn't featured in the OP? Well on to some pictures:
Yah I also found the 1st episode pretty enjoyable, though I haven't been keeping up. The one thing that stood out to me is during the transition phases that so kindly posted.
They give off this sense that the scene is always moving, somewhat artificically making the show go faster. I really like the bubble arrows.
Love is over. :(

I think Shonan match has been my second favorite thus far, this episode salvaged the match. Only criticism is the way the music sharply changes so much.
So much Suguru, that was kind of nice to have him speaking to Kakeru and to others as well. His soccer is the funnest soccer.

Odd censoring decision with
they had to censor Kakeru's entire chest (even though they showed the scar on his back, but not on the front, it had to be that much blacked out? If they needed to do that why not just not have done the scene?

I didnt understand the stuff with the rules of free shots, they stand weirdly and
they cant come in contact with the ball, even Jumping if the kicker wishes it?

The more ridiculous and over the top an episode of this gets the more I like it. Was pretty funny with Ayumu's fantasies, and further the
rocket chairs scene
with characters reactions. What a terrible curse.

Fuck Usopp because he sat there the whole episode and did nothing and yet somehow become a plot point about "trying hard"
Fuck Nami and her whining about treasure that isn't even hers

This show keeps on delivering in the best of ways.

Also, I think this is the first show i've consecutively watched the ED for. I just can't look away.
