Intro with Caster's past has me wanting OAVs or some such of the past lives of the Servants, especially F/Z Rider & Lancer. Sakura's costume change in this was ridiculous too.
Thankfully Assassin is all class. Guy just wants a good fight.
I'm shocked it's not just a bunch of stills or quick cuts like most of the earlier action. In like episode 3, they have Rin firing magic but they keep her hand offscreen and just toss this glow and the sound effect to signify it's even happening. Even when they do actually animate the action, it's usually poorly done without any sense of weight.

Well, at least if Ufotable remakes the series we can be sure it will look several orders of magnitude better. I'd still be extremely worried about the writing, though.
Basically, the copies come from 1997-1999 or so, while the N64 was popular. After that the PS2 came out and completely destroyed everything, and then everyone took more lessons from Sony's (worse) controllers than from Nintendo's or Sega's, tragically. That does not mean that the N64 controller wasn't good or popular, though, it just means that everyone copied the Playstation controller because it'd sold the best. I don't think that sales and controller quality have that much to do with each other though...
You shouldn't need a manual to understand how to hold a controller, unless it's some clunky behemoth full of buttons meant to simulate an expensive piece of equipment full of functions.
You don't need to read the manual, most people had no problem understanding the N64 controller on sight. The manual's there for those few who somehow couldn't.
And I'm a guy who likes to read manuals. I just never suspected I had to bother, and I played all my N64 games with my hands at the extreme left and right.
You didn't have to read the manual, you just had to use your brain. There are three prongs, and the Z-button's in the trigger-finger position. You'd have to REALLY not be paying attention to not be able to figure out how to properly hold it. I've never known one single person in person who didn't know how to hold the N64 controller. Of course some people don't like it, but "I couldn't figure out how to hold it" is a ridiculous complaint, it really is.
It's not intuitive to hold, plain and simple. Most controllers should be (and are) able to manage that much.
It's plenty intuitive. Maybe it's slightly less so than some other controllers, but it's easy to understand, easier than some other controllers I could name. (Getting used to any controller with tilt or motion control is much harder, for example.)
As the current Takamine was reminded by the other girl, though, only one can be in each spot at a time...she should focus on her dream, even if that meaks Kanata will have to wait more. I mean, I agree that it's too bad Kanata can't be on there too, but I'm sure she'll get there...
In retrospect, I regret admitting to watching this show. As for the ending,
I knew the MC was going to give his ticket away. I'm only a tiny bit disappointed as I wanted Selnia to legitimately win. But you know, I'll take that final minute where the cast scolds the MC for being dense. I'll take a final episode that acknowledges the MC is a moron as opposed to business-as-usual endings.
I guess it's no wonder that nobody talks about this show as opposed to Infinite Stratos and Haganai: The characters have better counterparts in other shows. Selnia and Tomomi are just toned down versions of Meat and Yozora. I'm torn about Daichi in the sense that [Infinite Stratos Spoilers]
they could have gone the Charlotte route for comedic effect and play the, "I'M HIDIN' TEN POUNDS OF MEAT UNDER THESE CLOTHES." Card but they just went with a flat chest.
[/Infinite Stratos Spoilers] On one hand, that's the classy thing to do. On the other, LvB isn't a shining example of classy especially when every episode of it has fanservice. Though I did say earlier in the thread that I liked LvB better than Haganai, I have to retract that and say that Haganai remains the better slice-of-life harem.
There were some prettyduskbackgrounds such as the quoted. They were so pretty that I'm sure Xebec knew this too which is why I think they used it in just about every episode. Overall, probably the best Xebec show I've seen thus far (Upotte and Nyarko being the other Xebec shows I've seen).
What I've seen of the .hack games makes The World look like the most boring MMO ever. It boggles my mind how something like that would become super-popular.
I agree, I have thought that before as well while watching the shows. I like some of the shows quite a lot, and others less, but regardless, it certainly doesn't look like one of the great MMO designs. It's got some nice backgrounds, and good music if the Sign soundtrack's in that version, but gameplay... yeah.
There is a plot explanation, sort of, for why it's popular... but yeah, it is somewhat unconvincing. Why THAT game?
Nostalgia explosion. Gankutsuou was the first or second anime that I ever watched that had never aired on American television, and I'm really overdue for a rewatch.

The show was basically based on a porn VN. It really has no hope of being "good" no matter who works on it. Despite this, I enjoyed it overall, and yes I marathoned the whole thing in one sitting. I loved it.
Well, in Fate/Zero, Kirei's character arc is basically
him coming to terms which the kind of person that he really is. However, that bypasses his original question of whether or not his existence holds any kind of purpose or meaning. He understands what his life is about now, but he still hasn't found an answer to whether or not that kind of life has any kind of worth. His journey to understand this would form the basis of his character arc in Fate/stay night.
Oh, by parallel I thought you were referencing some direct correlation between Pied Piper and The Pied Piper of Hamelin explicitly mentioned in the most recent episode.
I always assume that names like that are unsymbolic Engrish unless proven otherwise.

Huh, that's a nice selection for Caster. Offing her Master immediately upon summoning was a nice touch. if this is ever remade by ufotable, I hope they give Saber's melancholy about her days of rule more play.
Holy shit at the male teacher fucking up Saber too. Oh my god, that was so awesome.
Narag, something looks a little off about that image. I mean, why are all these girls in Shirou's house at one time? That makes it look like some bad anime harem.

I think if they expanded on characters, spread the spotlight, and had a more serious tone it'd do well. Of course this would require some hefty rewriting.

I am talking about the kinds of things that were said upon Summer War's release. Like, 'Hosoda's best film yet' and 'Hosoda will the next Miyazaki'. Those kind of painful lies hurt me.
