So I'm 8 episodes into Code Geass. Really liking it so far. I like the whole setup of the universe, with Japan being conquered and being renamed, and how the people are trying to liberate it. Lelouch is a pretty cool character, as is the 11 who is part of the Britiannia army. (I'm blanking on his name right now.)

The one thing I don't like are pretty much all the support characters at the school. They're just so cliched, and remind me why I was so turned off of anime in the first place. But it isn't something that is going to stop me from finishing the show.

I noticed there is a sequel series, but it doesn't seem to be on Crunchyroll. Any place I can legally watch it, or will I have to just buy the box set?

I'd be more perplexed about what Nissan's expectations of the show were. Like, what exactly did they get from the deal?

It was available for streaming on Adult Swim's website a few years ago. You are probably gonna have to buy the boxset by now.

Dantalian in die Bibliothek vol. 09

Some good art in here, even if it comes at the cost of the animation being bad. Even for such a good hook I wasn't particularly engaged with what was going on (although I suppose that could be a side effect to not watching much else of the series). There's something really off about the pacing, and how one scene transitions into another. There are a lot of strange fades to black, like the shots aren't really there to be strung together. I also can't say that the near silence spanning across most of the episode really does a lot for me. I wasn't sure if this was because an artistic choice because they were in a book, but if it is it isn't consistent, and certain scenes suddenly pick up with a song in the background.

Interesting to watch for the unrealized potential, but Dantalian is still Dantalian.

Eh, it's not really generic. It's trolling.

Well Akamatsu actually planned the shift from the beginning for Negima, while with Medaka Box, it was executive meddling.

The genre shift in MB was intentional. Even more so than the shift in Negima. At least it was planned better and the transition was smoother.

Viz picked up Zetman and its up on HULU! Wish someone would pick up Lupin. I wonder who'll end up with the noitamina stuff.

Young Animator Training Project 2011 - Pig

Easily the best pig in anime since Porco Rosso. It's great to see these start to pop up again after last year. Hopefully the other three are at least as good as this was.

Oh my god you really have no idea.
On top of that my allergies decided to kick in full blast.
It was one of the most miserable work nights I've ever had.

I get you man. Especially the allergies part. I had to work an entire saturday with an allergy once. Shit sucked so much and I was cranky all day.

Watch some cute stuff :p Hope you get better.

Glad to see High School DxD and Inu x Boku SS doing so well. Both shows were good fun, and they both deserve another season. Too bad about Lagrange, though.

Hey guys, you know how Apollon has an OST coming out in April with all the insert song performances? That's nice and all right? Well, that's not all!

http://www.sonymusicshop.jp/m/item/itemShw.php?site=S&cd=ESCL000003879

On June 6, they're releasing the Apollon Outtakes Collection CD. This seems like the "real" OST, with a collection of music from the show not included in the previous OST. They mention an alternate take of Moanin', and the drum solo used in the next episode previews, as well as the original BGM tracks Kanno composed for the series. 3,059yen.

omg... just imagine... mocap in anime. The horror!

Miku is so amazingly adorable! :D I love watching the concerts!

Isn't it revealed later on in the light novels or whatever that
they aren't actually blood related and that that was the one thing keeping the sister from jumping on her bro's funstick
?

At least I remember reading here something to that effect once.

That's an alternate end in the PSP game, non-canon.

man, Charlotte was too good for him. :|

Truer words never spoken. She deserves so much better!

I don't understand the Medaka Box antihype. While most of the old Gainax guard did leave. MB is headed up by the duo who did the Wish Upon the Pleiades short a while back, which was fantastic. The source material is a joy to read and the voice talent has done some great work before.

Personally, it's due to the fact I dislike the source material
yet somehow I still end up reading it every week, damn you Nisio. :(

You watched Usagi Drop, so it seems you like are at least somewhat aware of recent anime yes? Anyway, you'd probably like Wandering Son. Slice of life with a unique premise and excellent execution. Hanasaku Iroha is another great slice of life. Anything in the recent anime of the year thread is worth a shot, particularly Penguin Drum and Madoka along with the aforementioned shows. Working is a fun comedy, as is Nichijou. More recently there was Daily Lives of Highschool Boys which is very funny.

This thread would also be useful if you are looking for stuff from the 2000's

Dennou Coil, Mononoke, and Baccano are some of my personal favorites.

I wasn't aware there was that much deviation from the manga to Blood Trail? Interesting.
Wandering Son is good, I've watched about 10 episodes so far. Need to get back to it.

Daily Lives of High School Boys.
Everyone keeps saying that so I guess I need to check it out.

Gainax is dead. Studio Mappa is the new hotness.
Mr. Anno, Mr. Tsurumaki & Co. left because the studio was busy then, and it happened the same with Mr. Imaishi & Mr. Ōtsuka... now a whole year working on a long running series... but don't worry, everyone will comeback for/has been working between 6 and 7 years on something Yasuhiro Takeda defined as the real deal (O.K., it didn't said it like that, more like very important or key work) for GAiNAX (http://www.moeyo.com/2011/12/revoltech-meeting.html). Could this be the time for Blue Uru? Mr. Hiramatsu's Ghost Rhapsody? Something else? Nothing now?

I'm a bit confused as to why Sony are releasing the Apollon music. I thought Kanno only released stuff with Victor/Flying Dog? I mean, I guess it makes sense that Yuki will sing the OP as she's signed with Sony, but it just seems a bit odd is all.

Doesn't alter the fact that I'm still at hype central. Sakamichi no Melody sounded great from the PV and I'm sure the jazz classics will sound good regardless of what Kanno herself produces.

Sony isn't releasing the music to Apollon. Epic Records is. I only linked to the Sony Music store because they have a detailed description up, which other stores didn't. Sorry for the confusion!

I would be very ok with this. When was this announced, back in 2005 or 2006? It's been a while.
