Much to my chagrin, I have recently viewed a piece of media that would technically classify (through no intention of mine) as an animated product originating in the country of Japan.

I'm wondering if I should talk about it here.

If you are talking about Tekken: Blood Vengeance, then absolutely.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

I would be careful with that kind of talk around here if I were you.

I really need to get other stuff done/watch a different series, but every time I try, this is calling out to me. Another episode finished. Rider continues to be a great character and the scenes with Saber/Iris were very nice to watch, plus it's cool to that they have both never been to a city before.
Assassin not actually dieing was predictable after I was told to rewatch the scene from 1, but still... Kiritsugu is a complete ass for kissing that one chick since Iris seems 100% better in every way. :| And finally, Lancer! I knew he would make the party, but it was more of a 'when' will he arrive.

Birdy The Mighty Decode S2 seems kind of pointlessly gory and brutal. Dare I say exploitive?

Er, apart from that the handful of episodes I've seen are great and certainly superior to the original series for a number of reasons.

Lets see:

Focus on Birdy, her character and her past.
Reduced focus on boring school stuff.
Actually defined characters and antagonists in the show who you actually care about, not just random nutters or people (I'm looking at you Gomez) who just pop up from time to time but play no role in the story.
There's a story that's going places that's not set around some ill defined object.
Faster pacing.
Weighty, understandable consequences to events that happened in the last season.
Oh, did I mention how simplifying the story and exposing all the players in it really improves it?

I really wish Akiyuki Shinbo is back to direct just one more season of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I just want to see Rin again.

God damn at how disillusioned Nabuca looked in the barracks. God damn at Tabool shooting him too. Something satisfying in seeing Shu beat on Hamdo as well and that kid nearly being swept away got to me. Nice ending really.

As for the show as a whole? I'm glad I watched it. I feared it was going to be something horrible throughout and it turned out it was the main plot that was thorougly lacking, Lala Ru's last name may as well have been MacGuffin, and I really didn't care for the opening episodes given how heavy handed they were. My biggest mistake, I suppose, was assuming this was going to be some sort of event oriented story focusing on Hellywood when in reality it was more character oriented and it succeeded in spite of the awful and terribly convenient events of the actual story.

There I found some wonderful stuff when people were paired off. Boo & Nabuca worked well together as comrades, Shu & Nabuca as rivals. Tabool, who I initially dismissed for annoying, grew on me as I began to feel he carried resentment towards the three as Shu & Boo replaced him in those roles and Nabuca himself for holding onto a false hope he'd long since abandoned. The impression Sis left on Sara that finally let her get past her own problems was pretty great and it was sad to see Abelia finally free herself of Hamdo although the final scene of her looking at his drowned body had me wondering if the chamber simply collected draining water or if she flooded it herself. Maybe it was intentionally ambiguous. This is the kind of thing I found engaging rather than Hellywood's role in the world, why the world was as it was, or whatever secrets existed concerning Lala Ru.

Oh look, semi-positive impressions. Well look at that.

Some of that 'plot' stuff is clearly symbolic, rather than literal anyway. Lala Ru is symbolic not just of water, but of the all the resources mankind exploits. I don't think they're very subtle about that message. I don't think there's anything more to it then that.

Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

The dub gives Jigen a very arch 30s gangster accent. It's a bit silly, but Lupin is a silly franchise. It works, more or less.

I can see why the car chase is so well-regarded, even if there are bits that disregard physics more than usual.

The original characters certainly look like they're straight out of a Ghibli film.

The way Lupin actually gets to the castle's north tower is amazing and hilarious.

Damn, Fujiko's a badass.

Nice mechanical designs in the gear room. Didn't I read somewhere that this inspired the climax of The Great Mouse Detective?

Certainly lived up to its reputation. Could've used more Goemon, though.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica 03

I didn't really feel any emotional impact. Although the suddenness of what happened was probably the point, I think that 2/3 episodes wasn't enough time to make me care about her. I also wasn't sure when it happened and had to rewind to be sure, afterwards I went "That's it?". Of course, being spoiled on it may have impacted my reaction. At the end of the episode I was feeling more happy than anything else, after seeing the ED and thinking that the show was finally going to shift into the dark genre deconstruction that it was hyped up to be. I also kept wondering if they were going to say this quote I always see posted referencing the series, but it may either be translated differently or from somewhere else in the series.

Glad you LIKED it. Its not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. I guess it really depends on what you look for in the show.

Well when you find that someone, Berserker can take him out. :)

Or else I will myself. I'm pretty sure Berserker could accomplish the task.

Why would you subject yourself to this?

In the interest of national security!

Taking gun porn to levels I never imagined and only Japan could conceive.

I'm assuming it's like Soul Eater where they physically transform into guns, no sign of that in this episode but they play that concept alot, the school setup so far is like Infinite Stratos in that they differenciate the students by country, well they make note which guns come from which country, we already have an "Ichiroku-chan no ecchi" and the format seems to be following 4 girls like we've seen a bajillion times before.

Was the quote "Being Meguca is suffering"? If so, it's from a parody comic.

Well, I expected pretty much all of this when I saw what it was about but it still could be fun.
Maybe I should watch this and Akikan at the same time to see which is more awesome.

[Monogatari series]

So it looks like the Kizumonogatari movie won't make it for 2012 after all. I'm not exactly surprised.

Shaft apparently intends to adapt the second season (Nekomonogatari (Shiro), Kabukimonogatari, Hanamonogatari, Otorimonogatari, Onimonogatari and Koimonogatari) as an "about two cours-long TV series". Two cours for six books means around four episodes per book, like they did for Tsukihi Phoenix (so they'd have to skip a bunch of banter).

They'll also be making Nekomonogatari (Kuro) before that, but since that one isn't part of the second season (and there's not enough material for a cours, I assume), they don't quite know how they'll handle it exactly (OVA? streaming?).

They didn't mention the final season, but considering it's not even out in book form yet anyway...

Like a fragment of a movie, but of course that leaves you incredibly thirsty for more compared to one... damned series! And now reviewing in my head what I've just seen, with that Point Zero theme stuck in it as well, I wait for the following episode.

The buffering takes longer because they actually bothered to have a decent bitrate this time. When you see the episode, you will understand.
I see... I see it now! That detail, specially on fast moving and dark scenes, would have been very difficult to see otherwise.

Kiritsugu's sniping made me wonder why he didn't just go for the head immediately.
He made it like that so we could see Ryūnosuke's crazy, but understandable from a guy like him, realization at the end.

He's a
child killer.
He's scum.
Well, although repulsive in its consequences, I think one can appreciate (maybe out of pity) such a strong determination of those two stranded characters that understand so well each other in their disgrace. It is a kind of a strange empathy towards them.

My Servant is not available for hire. So sorry. :3

This was THE cutest thing in Fate Stay Night. "BERSERKER, CRUSH THEM!" being said by little Illya.

I always knew the FNC was a slut.

This is so much worse than I imagined. Refreshingly so. I just assumed this show would be about the moefication of guns, but it's actually about girls in school who get turned on when they think about their teacher holding them in his big strong hands. It's creepy gun porn on a level that I could never imagine until this day.

The level of fanservice was impressive as well, I hadn't imagined that it would be quite so direct.

Yes, she's talking about what you think she's talking about.

This should be watched by absolutely no-one. Ban this sick filth.

Loved the whole
Tokiumi vs. Kariya
build up and I can't wait for next week to see their fight and
Kiritsugu's sniping made me wonder why he didn't just go for the head immediately.
Oh well what a great way to start up S2~! :D

The dialogue in the episode suggests that
Kiritsugu was not 100% certain that the person he was shooting is Caster's master. Remember, no one has seen Ryuunosuke with Caster, except maybe the Assassins. It was a guess based on the way he was acting, so he went for a non-lethal first shot presumably so the bystander wouldn't die if he turned out to be wrong about it. When the monster stopped the moment Ryuunosuke was shot, Kiritsugu knew it was the right person, and went for the kill.

This actually makes it pretty disturbing if you think about it. Kiritsugu was willing to risk shooting an innocent bystander who was acting a little crazy, just to stop Caster.
