These are some unique complaints. Anime rom-coms are generally contrived, but you haven't really specified how it's contrived. Being 'predictable' isn't really the same thing.

They had to find that special place and when they found it, drama happened.
Specifically, they had to prove Earth was a developed planet so that Ichika could stay, but it was all for naught in the end for the purpose of drama. Later, the MiB showed a design of an interstellar space craft, which presumably allowed Ichika to return. They lived happily ever after. The end.

It was strange, everything about it was rather... uneventful despite there being quite a bit of action, but I couldn't stop staring at the werewolf hair.

I don't get who you are responding too.

The people who buy over-priced boxsets of anime that is drawn and coloured digitally should be the ones held responsible.

Partaking on Sakurai and Kojima's secret elixir of life.

I buy a little of everything, even older shows. So that's not quite true.
Also "hand drawn" can still be done via computer, using tablets. thats fine. Its still the work of a human hand and not a CG model. Thats what I'm trying to say. I just dont want everything turning into 3D modeled animation. thats fine for scenes and for Pixar/Dreamworks type movie projects, but Japanese anime should remain true to its original form at least.

Lavishly animated films from Toei trying to be the "Disney of the East"?

You could go back even further than that. Anime has already gone through many changes from its "original form".

Some models in CGI films are created from handmade sculptures. ;)

Goddamnit you guys know what I'm talking about. Stop with the semantics.
Maybe anime really is dead.

I'm not trying to upset you. All I'm saying is that change is inevitable.

Hard to call it running it into the ground when it's only gotten better (minus Coded).

I was referring to the underwhelming performance of Kingdom Hearts 3D.

Kingdom Hearts is "fine". It seems like Final Fantasy is what's being run into the ground.

That too! Dragon Quest is next with the MMO.

Not sure if anyone has even touched Kuroko no Basuke, but as someone who read the manga up to date in 2 days and has a love for Slam Dunk and most basketball anime/manga, this went down quite a treat. Faithful to the manga and well animated, I'd vouch for a watch.

Meanwhile, the latest news from the Visual Art's front:
According to Dengeki Visual Art's magazine, Takahiro Baba said he wanted to ask Kyoto Animation to produce the Little Busters! anime, but Kyoto Animation has been quite busy in producing other titles and Visual Art's could not wait for their turn to come. When the TV anime of AIR was produced, the staff of Visual Art's didn't know how to get involved in the anime production. Baba said that at that time Kyoto Animation was the only studio which could produce such a wonderful anime without the help of the original creators. However, the great advance in the production of bishoujo anime and years of experiences of Visual Art's with anime producers have convinced Baba that the production studio of the Little Busters! anime did not necessarily need to be Kyoto Animation.

I like the manga, but I haven't watched the anime yet. I'm glad to hear that it's faithful to the manga, as I didn't want to get burned on another shitty adaptation of a series I like. I should get around to watching it sometime soon.

Lets hope that shaft actually increase their animation budget for their next project and they dont let their style overwhelm everything else.

Hidasketch has traditionally had a money ep or two a season, and they haven't been bad at all. Once the AFX abuse/impressionistic wall is broken, added budget goes into short sakuga cuts rather than making everything "average".

Think the one sequence with flying Xes, or some of the character animation in x365 ep 1 like Yuno running or pomfing down onto the bed.
