Inspired to peruse some new Pixiv tags? It's okay, I don't judge.

...*ahem* I would never go to Pixiv to search up some strange fetish. Definitely not.

why are we discussing these things in our pure and innocent anime thread?

Probably not, hahaha. I don't remember much about the series, but the summons were always great (basically the transformation sequences). Also, it ends on a HUGE cliff hanger, so yeah. It devastated me back in the day.

It was rather generic, from what I remember, but yeah. It might be worth looking into at some point.

It wasn't very good, I'd say barely watchable. There were a few nice visuals, but ultimately it fell very very flat.

Well, I guess I won't be wa-

I might watch it someday.

or just loop the ED again and again

Good, that means more room for my stuff to be talked about. Right? Right?! Haha, c'mon GAF, we all love deadly yo-yos! Haha! YEAH!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Episode 09

I liked the camera stuff at the beginning. The quick cuts to various shots of the surroundings helped hammer home that disoriented/overwhelmed feeling Madoka was having. I thought they pulled it off really nicely, and it was kind of nuts how many well done background arts they went through for it.

I more or less figured Sayaka and Koyoko would end up dead at the end of this episode... Man, that Kyubey... What a terrible little dude. Things are getting serious!

Not digging the whole explanation for what magical girls are to the Kyubey people/universe. I don't mind the whole "uh, yeah, you're basically energy for us," but more the "we developed technology that runs on emotions, but we don't have the capacity for emotions." That makes no sense! I mean, they had to scour the galaxy to find something they could use as the resources they harvested, so why bother developing tech for something you don't even know would be worth harvesting in the first place? I know it's a dumb thing to get bothered by, considering it's only a throw away explanation behind everything else in the show, but it was just dumb. : \

YOU CAN DO THIS HOMURA. I BELIEVE IN YOU, I ALWAYS HAVE.

Oh, no, it's not that part that bothers me. It's the part where why would you
develop technology for a resource you don't have access to and the matter of potential access is up in the air?
It's dismissable, but dumb.

I was expecting worse. I was also expecting a lot more cringing from attempts at military/weapon authenticity, but they did alright. The only issue is that it was pretty boring and not really, uhhh... cool? I feel like a description of this episode is more exciting than what actually happened. The pacing and execution weren't too thrilling. Hopefully this wasn't the type of first episode that ends up being "Things that happen in the show, but animated better", but that's kind of a good bet, unfortunately.

A MAN'S K-ON... WILL NEVER DIE!

wonzo have you seen this scene in the anime?

for those of you who don't know what blackbeard sounds like it's Rider from fate/zero both have the same voice actor.

Yeah, that plot point did feel a bit forced to me, but it didn't end up bothering me in the long run.

The Light of El Cantare
I would gloat over this, but eventually it'll happen to an anime that I like and all of the haters will come out of the woodwork to celebrate and it won't feel so great then :(

Best of luck in your new playpen, K-On bros. You're not my bros per se, but you're still bros.

that just cements its awesomeness. although I don't really like Blackbeard.

I haven't been catching up with the manga recently. When was this moment?

Neat, I didn't know about the VA.

Makes sense though, as he has one of my absolute favorite laughs in the One Piece series.

For me, that's still nothing compared to
the sad excuse for a reason they're doing this in the first place. You can't lose energy! And if you can gather metaphysical energy, why not just use your amazing technology to gather energy from the fringes of the universe to re-energize it!
My suggestion is that you don't watch past episode 10. The implications are more satisfying...

you'll see... >___>

I don't really get Fumoffu's high ranking after grabbing it on BD a while. I rewatched it and I got almost nothing out of it.

I rewatched Fumoffu a couple of years ago and still laughed pretty hard. That's a sign of a good comedy if you can rewatch it and have a good time.

Did I already mention that Jormungand is pretty awesome so far? Feels very similar to Black Lagoon. Nice soundtrack and great use of music, too. We really need more anime like this and less generic moe shit (Except for moe Cthulhu. There's never enough moe Cthulhu). But other than that, this show reminds me of the old days - no high schools, no moe blobs, no harems, no panty shots, no whiny, angsty teenagers. Instead, we get insane characters old enough to sign contracts and drink alcohol (except for Jonah, but I'm totally okay with a child soldier in a show like this), badassery, guns, blood, explosions, an impressive body count... Just good, old fashioned fun.

Don't listen to frostbyte. Best/ only worthwhile thing KyoAni ever did.

They're definitely aiming for a BL feel. It just seems they don't have the animators Madhouse does nor the skill. Normally character design doesn't bother me but the eyebrows are just so inhuman and weird looking it throws me off of Jonah as an individual.

Definitely agree with this.

The original FMP was pretty good, as I said, but nothing really special. Fumoffu recycles too much of its jokes and comes off as rather bland to me.

FMP:TSR on the other hand is definitely a step up though. Quite well done and actually made me appreciate the franchise more than FMP/Fumoffu ever did.

The original series was actually ok. As you said it's not really amazing although it does have its moments. You can see the potential there and it's not really until KyoAni steps in that steps from good to great. The universe as a whole is also relatively interesting which helps things a lot.

Unless duckroll is joking, I'm not sure how My Little Pony is allowed in this thread but K-On isn't.

Because it's a good show?

Pish posh! I must see this through to the end!

I was originally thinking it was going to be a 26 episode series, but I'm taking it this is only a 13 episode series, now.

Sadly, this course of option isn't possible for moustaches such as myself. Maybe I should just point and laugh as many times as I can until it's my turn.

...I really need to catch up or I've forgotten much.
The last thing I remember is Luffy and co fighting a dragon of some sort?

Before I say anything further, how far are you? What's the last major event that you can remember in great detail?

Jormungand 1

Well it's got that nice jazzy modern western atmosphere, but that's about it. We're given very little context and expected to sympathize with these anti-hero/villain protagonists, so yeah, not the best introduction.

I'm also usually not a big fan of action series that only have guns unless it's stylish as hell, so I probably won't be keeping up with this.
